can you plug in any video source to it? I mean a blue ray player or any other video signal? Or is the movie cinema mod only for scial streaming services?
If Project Morpheus was compatible with No Man's Sky and it got a legit SAO game, I would buy it no questions asked. Morpheus has a lot of potential. The only things that worry me are: 1) Will it eventually work with AAA titles instead of basic makeshift games and 2) The hardware of the PS4 seems as if it'll be (if it isn't already) a limiting factor to the venture into VR gaming as a whole. Which brings up another question. How short is this 8th generation of consoles going to be?
+The Last Trap God OMG no man's sky, I can't wait. Also, if there is an SAO game, then I'd play it as long as I have the ability to sign out. Also, I was wondering how long this generation of consoles would last the year that they came out. I was watching trailers and interviews about the witcher 3, and they were saying that they had maxed out the capabilities of the xbox one and the PS4. So if the graphics capabilities of these consoles are already maxed out, then the next generation of consoles will have to come soon. I do like consoles, but un biasedly, I think that PC won this generation of gaming.
james wasda That sign out feature will for sure be detrimental to an SAO game lol! I remember back in the beginning-middle of the 7th generation of consoles, developers were already starting to max out the Xbox 360 and they had just started to grasp the PS3's architecture. I don't think that this generation will last as long, but it's far from over. I still feel as if developers have to find a more efficient way to develop for the PS4 and One without constantly cutting things. Whether it be framerate or resolution. We are only 2 years in, hopefully developers can update their game engines or make them more versatile in order to deal with the weaker hardware of the consoles in comparison to the PC.
The Last Trap God That's a good point, looking at no man's sky, their entire game is procedurally generated, and because of that, it won't use nearly as much processing power, and it will also take up a lot less space. If game design companies used this technology to make their textures, then it would take a lot less time and processing to make a game look good. For example, in stead of copying the same pattern over and over for a path, a grassy field, or a brick wall, (which takes up disk space, and makes the game less immersive), you could apply an equation to a certain amount of space, which would create a random and logical texture.
Thinking about this again, a lot more stuff could be dependent on equations in stead of graphical processing. Which would put a lot more stress on the cpu in stead of the gpu. I'm pretty sure that the current way light works in games is by shining lots of rays of light, and then having them reflect, scatter, and blend. But doing this uses a lot of graphical processing, which is why a powerful gpu is required for amazing lighting. But if you made the lighting dependent on equations of motion, angular reflections and refractions, then it would take a cause a lot less stress on the GPU.
10:28 A wild Brad Shoemaker appeared! Been waiting for this video for a while, so If I'm correct the Morpheus is basically a decent entry level VR for people without a huge gaming rig, which is suprisingly close to Oculus given the 2 year old PS4 hardware. I can live with that.
***** I'll never own a PC capable of cutting edge stuff, I strictly own a laptop for 2d animation purposes, so Oculus and others will never work with anything I own. I already own a PS4 as well as the stuff needed, it seems like a no Brainer given everyone says the difference isn't game-changing.
AChimpKnockinAbout Well, you are right except for one thing, it appears to be a top of the line Vr for people without a huge gaming rig. So as long as it gets the content promised, i don't see oculus getting too much of the market share
I don't know if I'm the only one, but I feel the visor should be a removable piece for ease of use (if that's possible). If I know anything about myself it's that I won't want to keep having to take the entire headset off every time I need to do something. I like the idea of clicking a button to remove it, putting it down on my end table, doing whatever I have to do, and then just *click* back to gaming. Maybe being able to flip the visor up as well instead of just being able to adjust it? Just a thought.
there was a lot of interesting stuff going on in the background, a man with bionic legs, a sad looking woman giving out hugs, over a hundred different people with camera equipment, ect
Sam, Nico, Brandon, D, and the crew were all hanging out in the background during the intro. And I just got finished watching one of their Node videos. Creepy o.O
I feel like VR will eventually become a treadmill (that allows free movement, there's something exactly like this already) and some positional trackers like the ones that game studios and film studios already use, to track body movement.
Laying in bed with the flu, middle of the night, surfing RUclips videos in a fever dream, and who should I hallucinate but Tom Arnold. Distressed, I decide it must finally be bad enough to see a doctor... But wait, it's not just me! A shared projection?? Anyhow, Jingle All the Way in ten. Who's in?
The headset looks really good. I would want a black one with the option to change the LED color. Also they need to figure out a way for a camera or small group of cameras to track and recreate the room we are in... so that we can walk around safely in our homes while wearing the headset and playing in a VR game. 10-20 yrs.... things are going to be so cool.
Guys - forgive my epic lateness - does the PS-VR screen completely immerse you - as in you don't see anything else but a huge screen? While in use is your perception as if you're viewing from being there or is it like looking at a screen? (if you catch my drift) Thanks...
+Jose Brito I've never worn diving goggles - lol - besides that could mean how it fits & not how you see... So does the lack of degrees - we see 160 I believe - mean well see the screen edges?
Marvin Connell yes but thats with every headset im pretty sure to get 100% coverage the screen would have to be curved and i dont thinks the lenses could deal with something like that
I'm really liking the sheer effort the console scene is putting into VR, despite the consoles themselves not being ideal platforms made originally with VR in mind. As a PC user this is good for me as it raises VR's profile and gets it into the mainstream. People loving this hearing you can get a higher fidelity experience on PC. That could really give Oculus and Steam etc.a bit of a better chance of sticking. I so hope this doesn't end up being a fad that doesn't catch on.
The fixed known framerate of a ps4 is a massive advantage for VR devs and users. Much much more so than normal 2d games where framerate doesn't make you sick.
Morpheus looks nice. Not sure if I'm as excited as I should be, definitely am buying one though. Wonder how this works with FPS and shooters in general in terms to how you move. Can't wait to try it.
+Manga! at the disco! Oculus is a Head mounted display, so is PSVR. They don't ''generate'' the graphics. Your machine does (PS4 & pC) and if you got a good PC. there is no comparison with ps4.
sik59rt its not 24 hours a day for whole week(maybe hour or two). best advise is play the game before you go to bed(probably the best way). by the way, thats oculus prototype dev kit version(terrible letency). You don't really have to worry about motion sick for consumer version of Morpheus or oculus. they pretty much solve the problem and thats what people said at E3 2015(people who tried Morpheus or oculus).
The most exciting thing about VR for me is it appears local couch co-op is making a comeback. There are very few couch co-op games for the PS4, looks like Morpheus is going to open up the flood gates.
atención, mucha atencion en el minuto 6:40 al hombre de camiseta negra, pantalones cortos camuflados, gorra roja y un baston. eh visto prótesis pero como esas nunca
VR i think is going to be a huge leap in the gaming industry if they can do it right, as for photorealism and life like graphics they can hit a huge wall very fast with the VR, since you ARE essentially the character you are seeing out of, they can hit the brick wall that is the uncanny valley where your mind will find discomfort and uneasiness with seeing life like things that is knows is not life like, idk, its will be cool to see how the future goes.
Somewhere out there is a kid, not yet a teen who will someday be in trouble when his parents say "let's try this new VR thing out" and notice little Johnny was watching Pornhub. Hopefully the dad finds it first lol.
that only manages audio and similar, the ps4 is using called frame reprojection where it takes 2 frames and adds a 3rd frame in-between to fill in the gaps similar to how digital motion blur works except on frames and not movement
You might be right but from what i gather they're marketing it as 4k ready. www.idigitaltimes.com/playstation-45-rumors-2x-gpu-power-4k-blu-ray-player-price-q1-2017-release-date-524024
I have yet to buy a PS4 (not enough on it yet to justify a purchase) but I when this comes out, it will be hard not to; it looks incredible. Does anyone know if the PS4 supports the PS3's Move controllers or are they completely new ones?
Will i be able to use VR instead of a tv with all games? and will i be able to use with my Mac book as a screen? I move around a lot so this could be very handy.
Jose Brito um yes but people ask if you can only use the ps4 an PS vr just to play and nothing else meaning that PS vr is what's only showing a image
Wow awesome content and thank you for showing us so much of the Sony VR, I mean I'm really glad you guys hardly talked and just showed us the input from game testers.Yes sarcasm and very much so
***** They didn't announce anything, doesn't mean it won't have! It probably will, since not everyone on console wears headphones and they're pretty much necessary for immersion! Enjoy tech? Check out Projections, our series about AR and VR: bit.ly/2ufaYr2
Everyone waive to Node in the background. Brandon, D,, Sam, and Niko hard at work.
Jason Sidwell Oh good, I'm not the only one subscribed to both channels.
Jason Sidwell That was the first thing I noticed when I started watching.. lol
Joakim Eliasson
The
Jason Sidwell 5:17, oh shit! :D
You guys have the best VR coverage in the industry.
can you plug in any video source to it? I mean a blue ray player or any

If they make a stationary bike peripheral with fitness related games then I'm all in

Yes it is
Shout out to Node hanging out in the background.
Is it just me or did Tom Arnold just walk across the background at 7:20?
Finally Iv'e been waiting for you guys to review the Project Morpheus.
Looks so different without glasses o_0
Im guessing he's using contacts for a better VR experience.
***** I agree. But there will be another better greater occulus in the next few years.
AChimpKnockinAbout Well, you are right except for one thing, it appears to be a top of the line Vr for people without a huge gaming rig. So as long as it gets the content promised, i don't see oculus getting too much of the market share
***** The immersion depends on the game not in the hardware. Of course, you won't see a Uncharted 4 VR with PS4. Maybe PS5 XD
My last name is Shoemaker.
I don't know if I'm the only one, but I feel the visor should be a removable piece for ease of use (if that's possible). If I know anything about myself it's that I won't want to keep having to take the entire headset off every time I need to do something. 14:30 hi tim schafer
You never have to feel sad saying goodbye to Richard because wherever you go, whatever you do, he'll will be right here waiting for you.
lol you can see the node crew in the back ground 00:01
I was going to say that!!
phoenix denney I was like "there's Sam!" lol.
+GamingBanana fuck me too
and Tom Arnold in the background at 7:19
The mic you guys were using for the interview was sweet
I cant wait for this to come out
you can tell this guy loves what he does! We need more people like this in the gaming world!
How about just putting in on to play standard (FPS, for example) game? Just mirroring screen with wider view.
5:18 Sam and Niko from corridor digital in background!!
there was a lot of interesting stuff going on in the background, a man with bionic legs, a sad looking woman giving out hugs, over a hundred different people with camera equipment, ect
i just realised your going to need to buy the camrah to use this with, i think the lights on the headset are like the light on the controller
Makes sense
:/
yeah that's what they are just the the tracking on the ps4 controller and move wands
Amazing what a small world to see node and tested at the same place
Omfg! XD "Do you picture going to the gym and seeing 40 people in a row wearing goggles flying virtual horses" I'm done if that's the future.
+Inept Society i cant wait lol
You know it's E3 when Tim Schafer is walking behind you. 14:28
Is that Tim Schafer at 14:30 in the background?
Sam, Nico, Brandon, D, and the crew were all hanging out in the background during the intro. And I just got finished watching one of their Node videos. Creepy o.O

Spencer Mahan Haha nice spotting. Yeah that's him, saw he was at E3 on another RUclipsr's channel lol.
Who's in?
Spencer Mahan That was totally Tom Arnold hahaha
corridor digital in the background!
Norm is a very flaunt interviewer. Very enjoyable to listen to your conversations!
They should create a jacket that you wear while playing that can map the movement of your whole upper body.
ScubzMcTalBowling they have ps move
doctamic But not a Playstation Suit.
ReformedThe and what if there's vibrations in it. So when your running you can feel where you got shot in the back.
***** welp somthing like 10 15 yers later

no they compare it to wearing diving goggles as its a 100° field of view. the human eye has a fov of over 180° in most cases
+Jose Brito I've never worn diving goggles - lol - besides that could mean how it fits & not how you see... So does the lack of degrees - we see 160 I believe - mean well see the screen edges?

Ok...
That room's ambient lighting fucks my brain. YOU SHOULD HAVE SHADOWS!
It's Tuesday, where is the Adam Savage project?
5:26 corridor digital / node in backround
This is the most excited I've seen you guys regarding content. Do you think that could drive adoption despite the hardware limitations?
Is the resolution better the oculus dk2? if so, what resolution use it?
Is that Daniel Bloodworth in the background at 7:50?
So how long is too long in VR? How long before it messes with your head?
lol, is that Node in the background?
just noticed that! was going to comment but you beat me to it!
I'm really liking the sheer effort the console scene is putting into VR, despite the consoles themselves not being ideal platforms made originally with VR in mind. As a PC user this is good for me as it raises VR's profile and gets it into the mainstream.

Will's lookin good, he looks healthier. Norm still looks greasy.
Were those Double Fine guys at 14:28 !?
14:27 Greg Rice, Matt Hansen, Tim Schafer make a cameo!
Morpheus looks nice. Not sure if I'm as excited as I should be, definitely am buying one though. Wonder how this works with FPS and shooters in general in terms to how you move. Can't wait to try it.
Can't wait till this comes out
am i the only one who think these graphics look better than the oculus?
+doctordalek thatsmybiz just note i've haven't seen the new oculus
+doctordalek thatsmybiz if you mean Graphicwise and not displaywise on the oculus, it all depend on what pc you got.
mrchriss ohh that make s sense
ah okay cool

0:25 Node in the background !
Have you experienced any nausea while using this or the Oculus for extended periods of time like some old school VR products?
strongpillow Why don't we just take the motion sickness... AND PUSH IT SOMEWHERE ELSE!?
sik59rt once your brain get used to it you won't get it for sure. i dd first but after using it a week, never happen
andy sky so it takes a week to get over the motion sickness? thatll help sales
sik59rt its not 24 hours a day for whole week(maybe hour or two). best advise is play the game before you go to bed(probably the best way). by the way, thats oculus prototype dev kit version(terrible letency). DarkYogurt Your comment didn't get the attention it deserves. I applaud this, because this made me laugh. I friggin love Patrick.
Check out Tim Schaefer walking by at 14:28, just all casual like.
Lower fidelity experience? Maybe visually, but the head tracking on the Morpheus is like 100x better than OR's.
6" screen improvement with also an upgrade to the field of view . instead of 100 degrees make it 120 to 160 .
never aswered the boys question! how long can we wear this until we take off due to weight etc
The most exciting thing about VR for me is it appears local couch co-op is making a comeback. There are very few couch co-op games for the PS4, looks like Morpheus is going to open up the flood gates.
anyone else see Double Fine guys walk past at 14:25?
Why haven't you guys checked out RIGS from Guerilla Games? It was announced best VR game of the E3.
6:40 to the left you can see node
0:26 Corridor Digital in the background ;)
5:17 SAM AND NIKO IN THE LEFT!!!!!!!!!!
what are they going to do about the size what if a kid wants to play it
Its for 13 and up
+Caden Veritas Kids shouldn't use VR to begin with.
+kraenk12 Why the fuck not?
I got my first consul when I was 11
It was a GameCube
I'll get this. If it has SAO, ALO, or GGO on it. Flying would be amazing
Look at Tim Schafer at 14:30
Anyone else notice Sam Niko Brandon and Dee just chillin in the background?
At 7:19 it looks like Tom Arnold walks by in the background.
That zombie at the end. Scary stuff.
they need to make a sword art online game and the other ones in that series
+Ikram'O'Marki Gun gale online yess!!!
Node in the back near the end :D
Sam and Nicko from Corridor digital are in the background. And Node
Sony really need to improve the screen res on this thing!
Haha I noticed at the beginning behind Will was the guys from Node.
06:20 ...did he just say 'jif'?
Brian Blanchard It is pronounced ''jif'' not ''gif''
TheMrDicat yeah... I don't care what the inventor wants to call it. "Graphics Interchange Format" has a 'guh' so gif it is for me.
Brian Blanchard it took me forever to find out people actually say gif instead of jif. luckily im not surrounded by those types of people
Rusty Nugget Awwww we're not that bad.
+Rusty Nugget GIF ARMY ATTACK
we'll be there in a jiffy
At 0:25, you can see behind them is Node.
I mean the start of the video. You can see Sam.
And d
I noticed it to I love those guys
Are you guys not getting along?
Anyone notice the crew from Node in the background at the beginning of the video?
Tom Arnold at 7:19 ?
imagine sports games in ps vr like a nhl game where you are in the pov of a hockey player in a game or an nfl quarterback
VR i think is going to be a huge leap in the gaming industry if they can do it right, as for photorealism and life like graphics they can hit a huge wall very fast with the VR, since you ARE essentially the character you are seeing out of, they can hit the brick wall that is the uncanny valley where your mind will find discomfort and uneasiness with seeing life like things that is knows is not life like, idk, its will be cool to see how the future goes.

it's a far cry from getting in shit when my folks found my .jpegs and 2 min mpeg on win 95 that took me hours to download on dialup...
+Matt Grant lmfao hey at least you had those 2 mim videos my beast loads came from hbo after dark lol "real sex" and those prostitute shows
nestbox102 Hahaha that's awesome!
will that external brick used in vr be used in regular gaming to increase performance is it possible that we will se a 60fps ps4 soon?
that only manages audio and similar, the ps4 is using called frame reprojection where it takes 2 frames and adds a 3rd frame in-between to fill in the gaps similar to how digital motion blur works except on frames and not movement
+Mostafa Alarab Ps4.5! And no that's not a joke rofl
Rechitech that will just upscale games most likely using the new hdmi 2.0 standard as i doubt it will do native 4k for a console
You might be right but from what i gather they're marketing it as 4k ready. www.idigitaltimes.com/playstation-45-rumors-2x-gpu-power-4k-blu-ray-player-price-q1-2017-release-date-524024
Can you use the Sharpshooter with PSVR instead of the Aim controller?!? Does it work well?!?
A good prank would be to strap this onto someones face while they are asleep and when they are awake, they see some demon coming towards them.
a better prank is strap it on someones face and punch them so hard in stomach
Sony is getting serious :)
And they one of the first to actually show VR interaction system.
The assault rifle looks glorious!
the whole NODE gang chilling in the all cool 5:17
the bicycle game should be "Downhill Domination" remember that back on the ps2 days
I move around a lot so this could be very handy.
if you could connect your ps4 to it via HDMI or something then yes
yes they actually say that normal ps4 games will be like a tv within vr. indecently that tv would be up to 250 inches at 2.5 meters
Jose Brito recently on Twitter PlayStation boss said you don't need a TV for vr
Chris Wright i answered the first question. The tv is only for capture and for other ppl to see
Jose Brito um yes but people ask if you can only use the ps4 an PS vr just to play and nothing else meaning that PS vr is what's only showing a image
Wow awesome content and thank you for showing us so much of the Sony VR, I mean I'm really glad you guys hardly talked and just showed us the input from game testers.Yes sarcasm and very much so
5:30 Sam and Niko!
Morpheus will have headphones?
tks :)
***** They didn't announce anything, doesn't mean it won't have!
It probably will, since not everyone on console wears headphones and they're pretty much necessary for immersion!
Even the Rift and Vive(Not oficially announced, but confirmed) will have headphones and they're for PC!Everyone on PC has headphones!
***** The headphones barely cost anything(specially not $90) and they are optional...
***** Have you ever seen Rift's headphones?...
You think they're gonna add a fucking high end headphone?...
14.00 aaaand Will just came up with a multi-million dollar idea. VR Gyms, holy smokes that'd be a great idea
Why don't you guys have your own show on TV?????
i can't stop staring at the Node guys in the background
I saw sam and niko from corridor digital at 9:56
Isn't the PS4 limited to 4 players? Are they going to update it or something?
What is the game at 1:07
THIS GUY The Playroom Vr. It's free.
vr players look like they need their own couch to play, with all the head butting the person next to them will get
