- "Baker's Bend" at the 23rd turn of Nunperial Estate
When you travel on the A4 road towards Badulla about 18 kilometers from Balangoda town, you will find the Nanperial area. The starting point of the Nanperial road is called the Nanperial junction and the Nanperial area starting from that junction will take you to a different beautiful world. Going up this road we can see the view point of Baker's Bend
Situated at about 1700 meters (5000 feet) above sea level, this scenic spot offers many beautiful views including the Butterfly Reservoir on a clear day. The temperature at my place is also very low.
The large bends that meet Nanperial area are numbered and Baker's Bend is the 23rd bend. This area has a changing climate. This road running through the tea plantations is very beautiful. The beauty is further enhanced by the small waterfalls on this road.
There is an oral story about how Baker's Bend got its name. Samuel Baker, the creator of the city of NuwaraEliya, known as Little England, died in an accident with his horse-drawn cart at this place. Therefore, this place is called Baker's Bend (Baker's Bend).
