I was vegan for 3 years. And starting in the 80's I was vegetarian for 22 years. To make a long story short, all these years of veggies destroyed my health. I had fatty liver disease, diabetes and diverticulitis. Reversed them all on a carnivore diet. If I could tell anyone thinking of going on a vegan diet ....RUN!!!! AND GO CARNIVORE!!!
After getting a terminal cancer diagnosis my brother saw a RUclips video claiming the vegan diet will cure cancer. That was two years ago. He doesn’t speak of his health much.
Thanks to Dr. Chaffee, I’m no longer a size 16 (now a size 6), I no longer need a cane after 2 years using, I’m no longer breathless just from bending down. Friends have noticed my skin looks more youthful and I feel more youthful at age. 65. Started carnivore in April of 2023. I’m eating a steak for dinner as I’m watching this😘. Thank you Dr. Chaffee🫶
I recently convinced an elderly client, who thought she was declining into dementia, to eat red meat everyday. She looks and feels WAY better. She almost gave up living, and now her friends are commenting on how good she looks! Big quick turn around! So wonderful to see. Thanks for a great interview!
That is so great to hear! Thank you so much for sharing that with her, you literally just turned her life around and probably gave her many more years of good health and happiness. Thank you very much!
I am almost 63 and 7 months into Carnivore. Every time I step on the scale I am still amazed at the number I see, over 30 pounds less than when I started. Thank you Dr. Chaffee, Dr. Berry, Dr. Fung (I also fast every day), and all the other Carnivore promoters I watch. It’s never too late to start this way of eating. Life changing for sure.
You are a rarity among nutritionists because you are willing to learn and throw old/wrong knowledge overboard. A good friend of mine is an aggressive vegan and coach. Discussions about other nutritional options are impossible
Regarding Maggie’s experience with trying to survive as a rancher-my husband’s family are California ranchers and our family ranch is having similar problems. We had to sell off our entire cow-calf herd last year because we couldn’t buy hay in the state and there just wasn’t any grass. Property taxes are so high that my sister-in-law’s family is constantly battling to keep their ranch, land that has been paid off for over a hundred years. It’s horrible.
I'm sorry to hear this. This is the way they expropriate people. High taxes, levies and requirements that make it almost impossible for the farmers to survive.
It's called EXPROPRIATION WITHOUT COMPENSATION here in South Africa. Our government is planning to remove all land, assets etc from whomever they want. That have passed it as a law.
Just want to send my support and encouragement. I do see bright lights of people connecting directly with ranchers and I hope that that trend continues and that it helps all the people that are doing it.
It's *REALLY* as simple as "Eat fatty red meat when you are hungry, until you are not hungry any more" no need for ANY other channel than the good doc here
I’m down 4 lbs just about under 10% BF Should be at my goal of 8% BF by Christmas. Eating a balanced meat Veggie grain diet. Good luck to you on your journey
3 months strict carnivore, down 54lb, weight training and cardio total 2 hours, 5 days a week, I do not get DOMS from training at all, no longer suffer from back and lower body joint pain from over 20 years of military service. Sleep is incredible and energy level is constant through the entire day. I also intermittent fast and occasionally do 2 to 4 day water fast to push my system while training. I truly wish I had this knowledge in my 20s.
One of my grandmothers was still painting the outside of her house at 88 years old. We have gotten a really skewed idea of old age from following the lies of what is healthy for us to eat for so long. I'm 61 and I hope that by making this change that I can work into my '80s as well. I may not be as healthy as Maggie, but I can be my best!
I’ve studied nutrition twice! Once through sports and again through Naturopathy and health science. All your info completely blew my world views on nutrition. I cant believe how we’ve been lied to!! (Actually I can, when you look at the history of allopathic vs natural medicine). I’m one week in on Carnivore 😍
I am 34 years old. 7 years ago I went low carb and lost 51 lbs. I maintained my weight and everything. My mom is the one who introduced me to carnivore. The reason why I'm carnivores because I have so much neeve pain. I am happy to say about probably 80% of my nerve pain is gone. I used to have sensitivity in my feet from when I had plantar fasciitis but now that is gone. I even wore shoes that would regularly hurt my feet and no pain whatsoever. I have always had nerve pain since I was in my teens and now I only feel aches from over doing things. When I started carnivore it wasn't about weight for me. I wanted to see if this would help my nerve pain and it did. So I will be carnivore for the rest of my life. Thank you Dr. Chaffey and every other RUclipsr promoting carnivore it has helped immensely!!🎉
Surely losing weight (whatever diet you're on) would improve a lot of symptoms that simply being overweight would cause. I mean being overweight puts pressure on your joints, feet, nerves, etc. If doing carnivore is the only way you can manage to lose weight, then great, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's carnivore that made the difference. Like do you think someone who was 100 pounds overweight who only ate carnivore would have no negative symptoms from being overweight?
I am a new Seventh Day Adventist. And I've been carnivore for 5 years. I don't really talk about it to other members much because they don't understand. But I can say you are right, that they do a lot of things that are healthier than average people. One of those things is resting one day out of every week.
Just started my journey a week ago. I do concrete for a living and now off the for the winter. I’m 47 and I want to be in better shape for the spring. Really I’m hoping to feel like I’m 30 again. Can’t wait to see what happens in this next 3 months 🤞🏻
Shoe! Go in carnivore and having 3 months off you'll get an amazing shape. As long as you use those three months wisely, start really exercising well as you get more and more energy on this way of eating, your body won't be able to stop getting healthy....but I ain't no doctor 😜
You might experience some "turbulence" but please hang in there! After the oxalate dumping (which could come in the form of a headache, joint pain, lack of energy) and the keto flue, I experienced not wanting to eat meat anymore because of my carbs and sugar cravings. Anthony Chaffee mentioned once that the taste of meat will only keep getting better once you're fat-adapted and you'd be looking forward to the same meal every day and it will taste delicious to you. 100% true. I can eat only steak for the rest of my life and enjoy every bite of it :) I'm happy for you, and since you're just starting, I didn't want you to think that this diet isn't for you if you didn't feel good for a few days. Just hang in there and it will only keep getting better and better in every way. That's a promise :)
Guys, really, i'm concerned about one thing, i feel the region of my heart, like a pain, especially when i eat lots of fatty meat. My stomach, when much fat, shakes, and i searched for those symptons and found a problem/disease called "aortic aneurysm", and this is a huge problem. What about those symptons, it occurred to you? Are there any explanations for this reactions like heart pain..? Thanks.
@brunobortoli12 Do you still have your gall bladder? If not, the fat can be a problem on Carnivore Diet at first. Dr Chaffee explained in one if his videos that (I think this is correct 32:37) bile is produced by the liver but stored in the gall badder until needed. My opinion would then be that if you're a vegan or have been, youre not using the bile stored in gall bladder, so maybe it causes a build-up of gall stones & eventually the gall bladder is removed. BUT, according to Dr Chaffee, the liver adjusts to produce the amount of bile you need. So IF you still have your gall bladder, maybe the increased need for bile has caused a Stone that's gotten stuck in the bike duct. Bottom line is you're gonna need to go to the doctor, but try to not let them remove your gall bladder. An old wives' take I heard from my Granny was to drink a cup of olive oil. That will either dissolve the stone or help it to pass. I don't know that I could do it tho.
@@JScox Thank you for your reply. I did two exams for the heart, one was electrocardiogram, and the other was to see the CK, both were good and ok according to the exams and dr. I was not a vegan or vegetarian, but i was perceiving this reaction in the left chest, especially after too much meat with fat. Maybe it is my body reajusting to the fat, to the ketones? So let's moving on! I have scheduled one more appointment with a cardio, to show and see if there's anything to see meanwhile, this will be in less than 1 month, until then, i know my heart is ok and i will keep pushing in the meat and fat so that we can see the results for this next month.
Sardinians and all the centenerian I met in my trips from Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Greece they were eating a lot of red meat, fermented dairies, raw milk, lemons, olives, fermented plants and less salads and almost none cereals... They even not eat meat from animal fed cereals..... And they were drinking red wine. everything organic, locally sourced....
Excellent. I was debating vegan diet the other day.. unfortunately with a vegan. The debate stopped mearly immediately when I got her to admist it lacked mandatory nutrients for humans. After her admitting it.. from that point I would only say it was not a nutritious diet after every point was brought up. It drove her nuts. Absolutely nuts. Every time she would bring up a point I would reply “your diet lacks basic human nutrition and for that reason it is not fit for a human diet.” That was my answer for every single point she tried to bring .. lol. I do this with anybody that wants to discuss or debate the vegan diet. It is hands-down, a un-nutritious way of eating for human beings. It might be good for rabbits, though.
Dr Chaffee, could you please get someone to talk about ways to get this type of healthy food into small children. My grandson has Asperger’s syndrome. He is 6. We have just switched over to carnivore in our household and the results are eye opening for me and my wife. His mom (our daughter) is doing it as well. 2 weeks in and the three of us have lost right at 30 pounds combined. My grandson is a picky eater. We are really racking our brains trying to get more fat and protein into him and cut back on the junk he has been eating due to our ignorance on the issue. We want him to have the best chance going forward. Having turned 13 years old back in 1980 I know what he faces if his diet doesn’t take a significant turn. My mom embraced the vegetable diet and imposed that on me as a developing teen boy. I want the best for him but at this time he just will not eat meat at all unless it’s chicken nuggets. Help us save the next generation!!!!
Look up Neisha Berry's "Chicken Nugget" recipe with ground chicken, pork rinds & Mozzarella cheese. Not ideal, but not a bad transition. Other than that, unless he buys the groceries, you cook, offer the food. He WILL eat! Unfortunately school food is processed garbage, so you can't really control that...unless you pack his lunch. My 28 year old transitioned to carnivore over the past month because I did, in August. Been cooking mostly meat, but offered him sides. He has stopped wanting sides because he has discovered his increased muscles are very profound!
My son (on the austistic spectrum) was the same at 4 years old: A nuggest only diet. The therapists advised us to include him in the cooking/preperation of good food. He started eating what he helped cook. Additional we came to the realisation that he would eat food if he was hungry and only good food was available, but it was hard for us to "enforce that" becuase my wife didnt want he to go "hungry" so she gave in a lot. It is when we got consistent that things started to chagne. Now he is eating a lot more nutrient dense food, whole chicken, meat and only some rubbish foods like banana shakes ocasionally. His austistic behaviours improved dramatically coinciding with the change in diet. Good luck with your Grandson.....
I never felt good when I ate vegies, especially celery, lerruce, and other leafy vegies. I felt weak and tired. I recall telling my husband I felt like a new person whenever I ate steak. Sadly, I did not clue in until years later when I came across Jordan Peterson's interview after going carnivore and later Dr Chaffee and Dr baker's videos.
I decided last week to try some lamb for the 1st time. Bought a grass fed leg from New Zealand, and 1 from Australia. What a unique flavour profile! Especially the fat. Its very distinctive in its flavor from beef, which is my usual go to. Ive been eating lamb all weak. Even though it came from Australia and new zealand, it was actually cheaper than the beef i usually buy. Definitely adding more lamb to my routine.
I've been doing mostly carnivore now for almost 2 months. And I feel so much better when I stick to it. I do have a sugar addiction. So that's been a bit of a struggle. But I am learning ways to overcome that. I made some of those browned butter bombs (that's what I call them) and they are really good and taste caramely (is that a word?) I really would like to get my daughter to do this. Because I think it would help her mental health. She is on depression medicine as well as an anti psychotic. And I think this diet could help her is just a matter of getting her convinced. She is nineteen and rather stubborn when it comes to this.
What is a brown butter bomb? Regarding your 19 yr old daughter... Perhaps justlead by being a positive example. I've never seen forcing anything on someone who's in their most obstinant, passionate, political stage of live 😎🤘❤
Same, only mine is 23. And I think @ruthanna is right. 😢 unfortunately..... they are at an age where they have to learn it themselves or decide to ask for help. 😢😢😢 When I was that age I thought my parents were stupid too...😢😮
@@ruthanna4713 brown butter bomb is when you brown butter (cook slowly until brown but not burned) then pour into a pan, chill and cut in squares or put in pretty molds then chill. If you tolerate butter they are supposedly yummy. I get congested when I eat butter so I've never tried them.
Hi, not sure if I have sent this question to you as I.m not the best on using a laptop. Thank Thank you ever so much for the path you have chosen to take to help hopefully over time millions of people to begin to feed their bodies real food and remain healthy for a much longer life. Anyway my question is my sister-in-law is interested in eating this way as I have shared with her that at 84 years old my husband and I have been eating the right way for 6 weeks and our health has already improved a lot. She has ANTI THROMBIN deficiency, type 2 diatbetes and is over weight. She has been told to eat a lot of the foods that we now know are not good for you. So please could you let me know what information you have about her blood disorder. In spite of their advice she is still going to eat carnivore for two weeks to see if even in that short time it will help her. Many many thanks for your advice on this issue for her. And PLEASE keep up the good work you are doing for us all. Lorna Trass
@@tellingtruthexposinglies1435So you just put tallow on your toothbrush ? your breath must be amazing 😅 but does it really work ? like you stopped buying toothpaste ?
@@sickopathogen tallow or cold pressed coconut oil. I don't eat enough carbs to get morning breath. On Sundays I still use the cleanest toothpaste with activated charcoal I can find. Even then I wish they'd use mint instead of God knows what the flavoring is. I might stop though because it's more just like I feel like I still need it for others sake, but it's takes half a week for my teeth to look good and my mouth to feel good again. A lot of carnivores report not brushing at all and still enjoying plenty of tonsil hockey without any complaints.
Regarding hay. It’s tripled here in USA too. Chinese buying our farmland, bill gates buying farmlands, and big developers all contribute to this. There’s not so much money on huge acreages required for hay production. Then there’s draught, floods, heat and freezes. The taxes on farmland owned by small farmers are ridiculous! They made it all but impossible for them to be productive and profitable.
Hi Anthony, John the carnivore here😀 if you’re after a salty carnivor treat that is exceptionally good for you, try some dried anchovies. You get them Asian grocery stores!
I enjoy this channel and appreciate the awesome content! I just donated a bit toward Maggie from the link in the show notes. It was nice to see the number has climbed from what Dr. Chaffee mentioned in this video.
My body has healed itself going to animal based lifestyle from a raw vegan lifestyle. Thank you @anthonychaffee for inspiring me to make the switch . My intuitive spirit brought me to your channel. I am grateful and thankful for you sharing this with humanity. I have healed a multitude of alignments that got so bad on a raw vegan diet it made sense to make the switch overnight once I heard one of your podcasts. First meal was a Grassfed/ finished Wagyu filet I bought from a local regenerative farm. I’m blessed to have this local farm where I now only buy my beef.🥩 Never will go back my body knows best and I now crave 🥩 Side note: I had a food sensitivity test and I have no tolerance for plants 🌱 ! ( only some fruits showed up as ok ) unfortunately poultry & eggs were not good for me to eat eggs on red zone 😢) All other meats are ok 👍 I feel our bodies are amazing & I feel amazing since August 22,2023 eating only animal foods ❤🙌💃
Am a kikuyu and for the first time i have understood why us kikuyu ladies have big bellies its because we eat alot of potatoes ,,cabbage and carrots because this what we grow ,,,on day 7 of carnivore and i have lost 4kgs target 90days
Danielle Smith , premier of Alberta should be addressing this land issue that is literally killing the farming in Canada , with these wells of gas under their feet. Canada when i grew ip seemed like home, what disappointment in my later years. The stupidity and greed is unbelievably profound.
A bigger land issue is wef and un agenda 30 / 30 /30 where for climate change and nature by 2030 - 30% of land 30% of oceans will be in national parks or reserves and then 50/50/50 affecting meat production
Energy development per se is not affecting Alberta farmers. Land rights are affecting farmers and are dismally unfair. I think Danielle is looking into it.
The biggest poison is herbicides and pesticides in the vegtables, recently increased veggies and my energy tanked. Ended up in hospital 3 days infection in intestines . Now more divertictulosis. Carnivore diet here i come.❤😅😊
I lost 65 kg in 10 months reversed my NAFL,pre diabetes, sleep apnea and countless more issues. I will be eating a species appropriate diet for the rest of my life
I was a lover of shows that show behind the scenes at the zoos and was amazed at how these zoo keepers fed the animals things like peanut butter and a ton of sweet potatoes. I was like nooo what are you doing people! Then they wonder why these animals were having issues getting pregnant etc. I was told by my vet to feed peanut butter and sweet potatoes along with horrible kibble. My pup died from bladder cancer. I take total responsibility. No more!
I understand why they want to poison us (humans). I can understand why they would want to poison our livestock to mess up our meat, eggs, and dairy. ...... What is their motive for punishing our pets I wonder? Are they just so far gone into the plant based that they force themselves to believe it's good for all creatures?? Or do they actually think it's good for them? Cats and dogs are carnivores. Cats even moreso than dogs. The other day I saw cat feed that's main ingredient was wheat.🤔😢
Thanks to the Good Dr. I’ve been able to let go of Coffee! I used to believe I drank it cuz I enjoyed the taste. Reality - it was for the energy I got from the caffeine. I have so much energy from carnivore. I no longer need the boost from the caffeine.
I also follow Dr Cywes and would love to see a Collab between you. His video on salt sensitivity not being the problem with hypertension, blood pressure issues but sugar with salt added compounding the problem was a revelation for me. Plant-based, processed foods as sugars really drives home the point of staying strict to a species-specific nutritional paradigm.
I have an Adventist background. The majority are neither vegan nor vegetarian. The difference from the mainstream is the non-consumption of caffeine, booze, tobacco & junk food. Most were in good health into old age. Of the vegans & vegetarians, I saw a not-insignificant number who were "starchetarians" (average shape or overweight).
Great interview. I'm a 17 month carnivore and daily faster. I was never really over-weight except for maybe a few pounds. Before carnivore I was low carb but finally decided to cut out all carbs and plants. I'm 64 years old and exercise every single day in the way of body weight exercises and bike riding. (importantly, remember weight loss is down to diet and nutrition and NOT exercise) My intake of food is eaten in a 4 hour window. My first intake of food is at 5pm and usually pork or steak with 4 scrambled eggs with cheese + a large glass of raw cow's milk. At 8pm I ingest two large free range eggs mixed in raw cow's milk. My cooking fats are butter and lard. I also have a hot drink consisting of water, butter, and salt first thing in the morning.
I’d like to see a video that explains the difference between a so-called “balanced diet “ and “carnivore”. I’ve watched all the vids by various doctors and scientists explaining how we don’t need carbs to live and how a balanced diet is pretty bad for you. However, I spent hours researching all of that to get to the core basic reasons why carnivore is the best possible way to eat for humans. Vegan is extreme, but trying to explain to my brother about carnivore was difficult because he eats everything and had already decided that a balanced diet was best. He wouldn’t listen. I have a friend in Denmark who is interested but I need a succinct video to send to her (and my brother) that puts everything in one place. Thank you for being a positive force for human nutrition. This video is a good start. Just want that info from scientist who explains why carbs are bad for us.
That needs context. The healing comes with the abstinence of poisons, refined sugars, and man-made sugar like dextrose and maltodextrine and also seed oils. Under this context, yes carbs are bad If we talk about sugar from nature like in wild fruits for example that is bound by fiber for slow sugar release? Than this is far better. But i truly believe humans can be optimal in carnivore
Just don't unwittingly get the kid carb addicted as most parents do.....peerpressure is awful, advertising, and bad advice from so called health workers, many of whom are obese and clueless
@@RandomHuTaoSimpfibre is also toxic, see Dr Paul Mason, all plants contain poison defence molecules which accumulate, see Sally K Norton, even Gundry admits plants are trying to kill us.
Fort Worth? Blue zone? That’s hilarious. The nickname for Fort Worth is “Cowtown”. One of my biggest clients was a meat packing plant. The cattle drives to Kansas after the Civil War went from Fort Worth up the Chisholm Trail for export to the east. The stockyards, meat packing, and steakhouses are part of the culture. Fort Worth Blue Zone sounds like an oxymoron to me. From what I see, my grandparents & great grandparents generations lived long lives. My parent’s generation are now in the 75 to 85 year old range. Many of that group have already passed on. Overall, I don’t think they are faring too well. I am seeing a lot of Alzheimers, dementia, and cancer.
The blue zones are shown to us as plant based. People who are from there or have personally visited there all talk about how it's the opposite. Okinawa is known as the land of pork. Sardinians are constantly snacking on meat and cheese and their biggest get togethet every week involves bbqing a lamb and feasting on it. The blue zone in Costa Rica eats more plants than most blue zones. They do still eat mostly meat and they cook their plants in lard. The blue zones do legitimately have a lot of longevity and health. It just ate due to what the propagandists claim.
All true about including more meat based places in blue zone. As a whole, the group doesn’t seem too healthy to me. It is better than where I live now. But, both places have lots of air pollution. The health “care” in both places seems very lame to me.
@@ernesthader1109 the blue zones that already exist ARE meat based already. The problem isn't that there aren't meat based place represented, it's that we are lied to about what is eaten in those places. People both from and that have visited the blue zones testify to how much meat and how little plants they eat
QQQ - Vitamin 12 - how do we know if we’re deficient? Have itchy skin episodes at night with top back nail scratches from this. Carnivore only for over 90 days, beef, chicken, fish, eggs, bacon, butter, salt, no cheats, don’t want anything else. (Will try to be here at 11am - that’s our working day).
Buy a supplement and see if it helps, if not then you aren't deficient. Try epsom salt baths for the magnesium, that may help. But without blood work your just guessing.
@@fkn16v Thx, have started B12 supplements. The itchiness is only at night when drowsy. I have a distrust of docs so looking for another way to get a blood test. Appreciate your response.
If I were to suppliment, Id use liver once a week, or so. The itchiness may be a reaction to something your eating. I couldnt do eggs or butter for several months, after 10 months, I now have no issue with eggs, but use butter sparingly. If eliminating those dont change it,( give it a couple weeks), cut chicken for a while. Chickens are monogastric, some people react to the corn and soy they were fed.
AZ USUAL AWESOME CONTENT FOR HEALTH CARE. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK. AND C KNOWLEDGE. EATING MEAT HAS CHANGED MY LIFE AND MY HEALTH THANKS FROM HONOLULU BIG AL MANOA VALLEY ALOHA BRADA
I am diving more into this diet the more I learn. I have noticed that the less fruit and veg I eat, the better I feel. The more fruit and veg that I ate thinking I was being healthy was actually harming me. I have some food intolerances and most fruit and veg have these chemicals. The last week I have eaten meat mostly and I feel so much better. I plan to keep going and learn more. It will be interesting at work as I work in health and with dietitians.
Hi, im from the UK and I've been carnivore for 4 months now and I'm due to have a baby, im wanting to feed my child the best I can but I'm unsure how I get it from milk to the solid food, do I just give it eggs until it can chew properly? But they it will not get certain nutrition that it needs to grow, I just dont know what I should do and how to do it? I've searched RUclips but there isn't really anything out there for babies going in to toddlers. Can you give me some advice please.
In the past, mothers breastfed their children for a very long time, sometimes years, so there should be no problem with using milk until the child can chew. Also, meat can be puréed.
You can breastfeed a long time. Even pumping and putting it in sippy cups. Until your baby is able to eat other foods. You can easily puree any kind of food with a small food processor. Many people make their own baby food this way.
Breastfeed as long as you can, I nursed all mine 3-5 years. Mammals naturally breastfeed halfway to puberty. If humans go thru puberty at age 12, receiving breastmilk til age 6 would be the norm, biologically. Also, some good baby foods to start with: pureed meats, butter, scrambled eggs, egg yolks, homemade mayo, whipped cream (no sweetner), greek yogurt, ground beef.
I want to go carnivore so badly since my health is horrible at 32 and I am always overweight but I am so addicted to garbage food and carbs.. I don't have the money to eat ribeye steak. I have done about 30 days a year ago eating ground beef, eggs and bacon, but eventually I had a "cheat" day and I went right back to eating shit from there. I wish I had the dedication to quit carbs... :(
Hey it's okay. Just start again. I started and started over again 2-3 times. It's a new way of eating and it might take practice. You are learning what works for you! 👍👏 🤔 I wonder if you were craving salt/fat. Also, I find that if I keep ready to eat foods on hand, that helps! Ex. Summer sausage, cheese, hard boiled eggs.
Thanks Dr Anthony, I’m in the process of putting my type2 into remission. I live in Adelaide, would you know of a GP here that could support my health recovery with the carnivore diet?
That's so great to hear! I hope you are feeling a lot better already. I don't know anyone personally there, but if you go to the low-carb down under website you will find a list of doctors most major areas that do at least ketogenic, which is going to be very close to carnivore and at least they understand that meat and animal fat are not bad for you, and cholesterol is generally good not bad.
@@anthonychaffeemd thank you so much, yes I’m feeling much better, my last HBA1c was 6.8 prior to carnivore, I went through the whole frustration of finding type 2 is reversible and so many older Drs don’t know that(met a 30 something yr old GP from Pt Lincoln who confirmed it is possible) at the same time had a heart surgeon insist meat/fat gives you heart disease 🤦🏼♂️ My life was very active before my diagnosis @35(after some closely performed ops for kidney stones under general aesthetic) athletic as a kid, teenager. I was a scuba dive master and learning to be an instructor - After a microdisectomy @34 that scuba career ended After the type 2 diagnosis and read I’d lose 10yrs off my life from that I kind of gave up for a few years until I got on a motorcycle - I kept my type 2 in relatively check because I didn’t want to escalate the associated damage after I took up motorcycling. I’m 178cm was 86kg in Sept 23, I got to 78kg in Nov, held it and still heading to lose more as far as my body needs. I can’t tell you and all of your carnivore community how much it means to get my life back 🙏🙏🙏 I’m 55 now and watching Maggie has made tears well up in expectation of having quality of life again.
The way that grass protects itself from predators is by being nearly indigestible. You could have infinite grass and you'll still starve to death because you can't extract nutrition from it. Cows bypass this by repeatedly chewing the grass and having bacteria break down the plant matter in multiple stages. It takes a ridiculously complex digestive system, but it works. Oh, I should add, cows grazing isn't actually all that detrimental to the grass. There was this soil specialist who compared grass that is grazed on with grass that isn't, and the grass that was grazed on actually benefited. Just like cooking is now a natural part of a human's digestion, being grazed on is part of grass' natural life cycle. I guess grass adapting that way was more efficient than trying to wage war against cows' digestive systems.
Dr. Chaffee thanks for all the good you are doing. I have to tell you, that a new accepted theory aound the iceage is, that there were pockets of landscape, where there were no ice and people stayed and lived there as normal during the ice age, but off cause, it must have been pretty cold there as well. And Steven Gundry is not against meat - even though he promotes not to eat to much of it and mostly to eat fish/seafood, eggs and white meat and not so much red meat. So not against meat and pro lectin free plants.
I was eating shit and sugar all around garbage so much that when i went carnivore i lost 30 pounds in about 18 days. I felt amazing, like better than ever, then one day i said oh a energy dring with no sugar wont be that bad. It tasted so bad like pure syrup. I went ahead and drank it anyway and it did make me feel great for 2 hours. Then the craving came back so hard and said well i already cheated today an ice cream sundae wont be so bad and tomorrow ill start again. 2 weeks later ive ate a sundae every day after work and got a really bad back ache. I got colitis and it was brutal for about 3 weeks. I was still just eating meat but added an energy drink and ice cream and ended up in the hospital with $6000 bill. If you do this take it very seriously and do not cheat!! Trust me i know it will ruin you. That was 9 months ago and ive gained 22 pounds and been eating my sad diet. The drs said dont eat red meat but thata all i was eating and i didnt tell them that because i knew they wouldve said thats what it was not the ice cream. Which i ate ice cream daily before and never had colitis. I need to start keto or carnivore again and do it right. Just did a 50 hour fast this weekend and felt amazing. The constant crashes on a regular diet is brutal and i never even realized it.
You will feel so much better once you get back to it 👍🏼 I’ve been mostly carnivore for a while and last night I ate a single raspberry that my 5 year old granddaughter shared with me… it was so incredibly sweet to me that it was difficult to not spit it out 😂 I survived the raspberry but next time with say no thank you 🤪
I have a hard time believing your story! 18 days carnivore is barely enough time to adapt to this diet and you lost 30 pounds ?? Then you end up in the hospital 2 weeks later after adding ice cream and one energy drink ??? Seriously?
@@prunelle19 well I ate the ice cream and energy drinks for 2 weeks everyday. Which is what I'd normally eat. I seriously eat so much crap I'm surprised I'm not 300 pounds. I got a large strawberry shake from qt every single weekday for about 9 months to a year. 1000 calories and Id eat a bowl of cereal with sugar added because I didn't think the milk was sweet enough. No joke I put sugar in my cinnamon toast crunch. Like half a cup of sugar almost. I'm 6'3 220 and was up to 245. I had been working out and trying to slow down the sugar intake for about a month. I'd lost about 5 pounds and gained a bit of muscle. I was listening to a lot of Jordan Peterson and his daughter plus having heard of the carnivore diet previously I said screw it let's do it. I did stop exercising because I didn't know if I'd have enough energy and just till I got used to the diet. This was back in April I think. I ate hamburger patties and eggs with tuna for lunch and a steak at night mostly. I didn't cheat at all just meat salt and pepper with water with some electrolytes sometimes. I got down to 212 within those 2 weeks and then for like 4 days I slowly got to 210 or so. I told my wife I was working overtime for a little bit but I'd stop at braums and get a triple hot fudge sundae. Plus the white monster energy drink during work. I'd have 2 a day generally. I have no reason to lie to 10 random people in a RUclips comment section.
The reason people are over weight is because there is no vitamins and minerals In the veggies. That you are eating your body is starving. So the body continues to be hungry so the person is continues to eat
I tried carnivore for three months, I lost no weight at all and developed hypertension. Went back to Keto and reintroduced vegetables back into my diet. I don’t think everyone benefits from just eating meat!
carnivore is far more than just eating meat for the majority! I, for instance eat meat, fish, poultry, dairy, especially raw cows milk. I also gave up coffee and alcohol. Can you honestly say that you weren't maybe cheating when you tried carnivore?
There are definitely a lot of lies coming from carnivore pushers. Its ridiculous how people blindly trust these people and reject all the info we currently have about nutrition
Balanced diet for me. All meats , veggies grains coffee. Occasional shot of coffee flavoured vodka in my coffee. I’m just about under 10% BF and have great energy at 46yr young. I could never give up seasonal ripe fruit.
Is there any chronic disease for which the carnivore diet would not be recommended? Given the information presented here, it seems anything other than a carnivore diet would only cause more damage if one has already been so diagnosed.
Hello hello, can you talk about water/salt. I don't know why but since I'm carnivore, I need to urinate almost every 15 mins. it's bad! Since last week I'm feeling bladder discomfort.
salt is not carnivore. salt is mined. salt is sodium overload. the natural sodium in animal food is more than enough especially if you eat raw milk/eggs
I was already metabolically healthy when I tried carnivore, my cholesterol doubled to 400, plus I was constipated, I dropped five pounds I didn't need to lose, and my cardio performance was not as good. Decided to add back salads, rice, oatmeal, popcorn. My cholesterol went back to 200 and regular again, weight back up, also better cardio performance.
Total cholesterol is a meaningless number, there are multiple types, most beneficial. Also, it's virtually impossible to be constipated on carnivore; you produce so little waste that it can takes days before you even have to take a small poop. The only way I know to be constipated on carnivore is to either eat a whole lot of cheese, or to have a lifestyle that causes you to lose electrolytes unusually quickly and avoid foods containing magnesium. It's also totally normal to lose 2kg when you go from a carbs diet to a keto diet, it's just water weight, not body fat. Performance may take a few months to come back but eventually it gets better as you can use fat reserves instead of needing to refuel on carbs all the time. Whoever suggested carnivore to you should have told you most of that, no?
Bowel troubles are common at first, usually diarrhea, but it could be constipation. Goes away quickly. One thing I'll add to the person above me is that eating a lot of lean meat without adding fat can make you constipated. I've also noticed that days where I mostly just eat lean for whatever reason, I'll be super tired. It is now way better understood than it was in the 80s that cholesterol is actually the firemen not the arsenist. Cholesterol is always present in the hearts during a heart attack, which led them to believe for a long time that is what caused the heart attack. It is now becoming more and more obvious that cholesterol is actually what cleans out the heart. Which makes sense because there's an extreme correlation between people with high LDL and people who live a long, correlation is not causation and is definitely not the end-all be all. But it is something. I'm not somebody who says that everybody needs to be a carnivore. I did it for 6 months pure and then transitions to having some plant foods, and still eating 80 to 99% animal foods everyday. But depending on how long you gave it a try for you still could do well for you. If you ever decide to try it again, I hope this comment helps you.
I think the people getting benefits from carnivore were extremely unhealthy to start with, which is why they are getting benefits from cutting out junk carbs and sugars. The next couple of decades will be interesting to see the damage carnivore does to people
@@mattv5935 We've seen people who had been carnivore for 25, 40, and in one case over 60 years, and they were all exceptionally healthy. Maggie White looks 35 years younger than she is and, at over 80 years old, she still jumps fences and wrestles bulls. Carnivore is a way to see what happens when a human *doesn't* suffer damage from their diet.
@@BigSlimyBlob Yes there are a few. There are also people like Annette Larkins who have been raw vegan for decades and look decades younger. Carnivore goes against the majority of data we have on nutrition and it's being heavily pushed which is worrying. Just because it works for a few, doesn't mean it's healthy for most.
America is pretty much the same way on mineral rights. They've all been bought up decades ago anywhere there might be something valuable under the surface 57:50 . I don't know that it's exact same situation, and the companies do pay the landowner when they put a site on their land but it's not like getting the money from the oil or gas itself.
Once all your issues have gone away, then you can add them back, one at a time. You'll quickly find out if your body has a negative reaction to any of them. I'm OK with pepper, not great with mustard and chilli gives me arthritis within 12 hours. Personally, after 4 years carnivore, I avoid them all.
I was vegan for 9 years - went vegan for health reasons. Initial response was positive, but after 9 years, started having more gut problems, problems sleeping, losing hair, just tons of issues. I was tested lactose intolerant too. Been carnivore about 4 months now, I sleep better, better digestion, and I drink cream and eat cheese with no problems. I wish I knew about carnivore 10 years ago. So far everything has been positive from going carnivore.
Thanks for sharing. I’m about to go carnivore in 2024. I’m still wondering why there are some vegan RUclipsrs still look very healthy and even fit. Any thoughts about it?
Anthony I had my gall bladder removed years ago and I haven't been able to eat more than 6oz of beef steak or even hamburger without having trouble digesting it.. too much bile is produced... do you have any experience with patients dealing with this problem?
@mamaitaliano9774 wrong mama, your gall bladder is a storage and dispensarie of bile.. please remember these things Before giving medical advice 🤷🏻♂️ it makes you look 🤪 otherwise
@@mamaitaliano9774 The liver produces bile. The gallbladder just stores it. If you have no gallbladder, you need to eat fat in small amounts at multiple points during the day. That or take a bile supplement.
I’m on day 62 and I’m afraid I am not helping myself. My ketones were .3 and glucose 106 this am before eating. I have been only eating meat and heavy cream in my one coffee.. hard boiled eggs. I was eating burgers but ground beef makes me nauseous just looking at it. Now I’m eating only rib eye steaks. Also no weight loss.
The weight loss will come. Your body is adjusting and more than likely really healing and improving in many ways that you cannot see, but probably are experiencing within your metabolic health. Keep going, you will be surprised and grateful that eating a Proper Human Diet is something that you wish you'd known about 20 years ago. You CAN do this!! We are all different and our body systems respond differently and in each situation. Keep up the good work!!
I can't do ground beef either, at least not more than once in a while. Probably the histamines (I'd probably be fine if I minced the beef myself just before cooking it).
Look up the dawn effect. Everyone has this. When you wake in the morning, your body makes or releases glucose to get needed energy. 106 is very normal.
Direct from Dr. Google: Meat, poultry, and fish have high levels of potassium, especially in large portion sizes. For example, a 6 oz pork chop has 600 mg of potassium. Dairy products such as milk, and yogurt are also high in potassium. You're welcome ; )
Which hormones are responsible for the killer instinct of predators? Is that, and other systems as a result, affected by them being in a zoo enclosure? Could that be enough on its own to cause mitochondrial dysfunction and lead to all these diseases, even on a proper diet?
I was vegan for 3 years. And starting in the 80's I was vegetarian for 22 years. To make a long story short, all these years of veggies destroyed my health. I had fatty liver disease, diabetes and diverticulitis. Reversed them all on a carnivore diet. If I could tell anyone thinking of going on a vegan diet ....RUN!!!! AND GO CARNIVORE!!!
I was also experimenting with all kind of VEGGIES but my IBS/IBD/CROHN'S got worse....
After getting a terminal cancer diagnosis my brother saw a RUclips video claiming the vegan diet will cure cancer. That was two years ago. He doesn’t speak of his health much.

They need an online presence. People want to help the ranchers
I asked my financial advisor if I could invest in family ranches. He said that isn’t done. Why not?
My Day 54, 15lbs down, feel great. More and more people are having amazing results on carnivore. Lots of carnivore RUclips channels to learn more.

I have only been doing carnivore for 8 months now
Supplementing with Vit. B1 helps eliminate this issue - it worked for me
Surely losing weight (whatever diet you're on) would improve a lot of symptoms that simply being overweight would cause.
Good on you 🥩♥️

18 days Carnivore. Can't wait to learn more. Thank you, Dr. Chaffee for bringing us these amazing interviews!! Can't wait!
100% true. I can eat only steak for the rest of my life and enjoy every bite of it :)
I'm happy for you, and since you're just starting, I didn't want you to think that this diet isn't for you if you didn't feel good for a few days.
Thanks.
@brunobortoli12
Do you still have your gall bladder?

Great question. This should be highlighted. It’s so important now to instill good eating habits in our kids.

I've been doing mostly carnivore now for almost 2 months. And I feel so much better when I stick to it. I do have a sugar addiction. So that's been a bit of a struggle. But I am learning ways to overcome that. I made some of those browned butter bombs (that's what I call them) and they are really good and taste caramely (is that a word?) Regarding hay.
Add to all that the fact that property taxes are based on unrealized gain and that the government take any land it wants to.

I’m blessed to have this local farm where I now only buy my beef.🥩
Never will go back my body knows best and I now crave 🥩
Side note:
I had a food sensitivity test and I have no tolerance for plants 🌱 ! ( only some fruits showed up as ok )
unfortunately poultry & eggs were not good for me to eat eggs on red zone 😢) All other meats are ok 👍
I feel our bodies are amazing & I feel amazing since August 22,2023 eating only animal foods ❤🙌💃

Carnivore diet here i come.❤😅😊
This Thanksgiving, instead of one turkey, have two.
Yep I've tried to transition to decafe, useless , it's like drinking nonalcoholic beers 🎉
I dont foresee ever giving up coffee.
My mom worked in a school cafeteria in the 80’s and 90’s and was instructed to cook ground beef as described here. I don’t think she ever did it.
😣 The first ad that was shown before the show even started was that plant-based steak tacos are good for you! 🤢
I was watching a low carb video the other day and the last add was for Up and Go!
Saw that commercial last night! I wanted to scream!
Thanks, doc. I love your channel. You've really helped me more than I can mention.
Looking forward to this!
(importantly, remember weight loss is down to diet and nutrition and NOT exercise)
My intake of food is eaten in a 4 hour window.
Under this context, yes carbs are bad
If we talk about sugar from nature like in wild fruits for example that is bound by fiber for slow sugar release?

Maybe it's a good idea to include more known meat based cultures in the blue zone to break the impression that blue zones are plant based.
Thank you. Great info.
Google blood tests without a referral and you should find where you can get them done without seeing a doctor ☺️

Thank you.
Mothers in the past pre-chewed food, then fed that to their babies.
In the past, mothers breastfed their children for a very long time, sometimes years, so there should be no problem with using milk until the child can chew.
Also, meat can be puréed.
Nurse your baby! As long as possible. I went 24 mos. With one of mine.
Try running everyday and eat less. You'll be happy you did
Did carnivore for 84 days, ate some pistachios and couldn't stop... watching for motivation to get back on track😢
Why did you start your carnivore journey?
Hey it's okay. Just start again. I started and started over again 2-3 times. It's a new way of eating and it might take practice. You are learning what works for you! 👍👏
🤔 I wonder if you were craving salt/fat.
Also, I find that if I keep ready to eat foods on hand, that helps!
Ex. Summer sausage, cheese, hard boiled eggs.
There is room for both styles of eating. We really don't need another divide in society. Eat and let eat.
@@anthonychaffeemd thank you so much, yes I’m feeling much better, my last HBA1c was 6.8 prior to carnivore, I went through the whole frustration of finding type 2 is reversible and so many older Drs don’t know that(met a 30 something yr old GP from Pt Lincoln who confirmed it is possible) at the same time had a heart surgeon insist meat/fat gives you heart disease 🤦🏼♂️

After the type 2 diagnosis and read I’d lose 10yrs off my life from that I kind of gave up for a few years until I got on a motorcycle - I kept my type 2 in relatively check because I didn’t want to escalate the associated damage after I took up motorcycling. I wonder why grass doesn't have "defense chemicals" against cows.
They do. Cows have 4 stomachs to ferment and destroy toxins
Well, there's a reason why cows have four stomachs and we have one.
Thats because grass is species specific diet for cows. ...not for human😀

Ditto on the seasonal fruit. I eat what I grow.
Actually polyphenols are protease inhibitors - meaning it blocks protein absorption 😱
Either you r consuming to much water and not enough salt or u have a UTI.
salt is not carnivore. salt is mined. salt is sodium overload. the natural sodium in animal food is more than enough especially if you eat raw milk/eggs

What about mustard and pepper? Currently doing the Lion diet to resolve skin issues.
When can I try adding mustard and or pepper and or chili?
Once all your issues have gone away, then you can add them back, one at a time. You'll quickly find out if your body has a negative reaction to any of them. I'm OK with pepper, not great with mustard and chilli gives me arthritis within 12 hours. Personally, after 4 years carnivore, I avoid them all.

Look up the dawn effect. Everyone has this. When you wake in the morning, your body makes or releases glucose to get needed energy. 106 is very normal.
Dr Chaffee, do we get potassium from meat? So we dont need dark leafy greens?
Bacon has way more potassium than banana
Direct from Dr. Google: Meat, poultry, and fish have high levels of potassium, especially in large portion sizes. For example, a 6 oz pork chop has 600 mg of potassium. Dairy products such as milk, and yogurt are also high in potassium. You're welcome ; )
