Been making sprouts for years. I only soak broccoli sprout seeds for 4 hours. I never use a blackout cloth. They always turn out well! Mine only take 3 to 4 days, and look fuller and greener. Using a salad spinner makes dehulling and drying easier.
I've been sprouting broccoli seeds and lentils together for several years now in a 1 qt. mason jar with stainless screen. Soak overnight, no blackout , rinse 2x/day, after 4 days, just switch to a standard plastic lid and store in refrigerator. Just eat within 1 week and start another batch. Ok, sometimes I add in some Mung beans. EZ peezy.
Thank you for sharing! I always appreciate your videos...so professional and informative! One thing...I noticed that you didn't place your sprout jars in light. I always allow them to be exposed to light so the sprouts turn green. More inviting to eat. Take care :)
This video answered a lot of questions I had. I especially was wondering about eating roots on microgreens and learned why people don't do that when they do eat the roots on sprouts. Well done!
This tutorial was the best I've seen yet, ihave the jars but would actually like to make the microgreens, I'll have to get the trays. Loved how easy u made everything look, Thank you so much! ❤😊
Thank you for this video. I really want to try both 😊 I saw another video where she compared covered sprouts or with light. The light gave a much better result in my mind. They come out more green and appealing
They should be here on our Amazon Affiliate Storefront under the harvesting tab - www.amazon.com/shop/onthegrowfarms?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_mwn_aipsfshop_2JJZ41XJ12PP7GZ9ZC81_1&language=en_US
Thank you for watching! That's a really great way to learn. Honestly, both Microgreens and Sprouts are super great for just getting started growing your own greens. We don't offer lights or grow racks, but we do have them listed on our Amazon Affiliate Storefront - www.amazon.com/shop/onthegrowfarms?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_mwn_aipsfshop_2JJZ41XJ12PP7GZ9ZC81_1&language=en_US
From various sources, I had formed the impression that broccoli seeds should be soaked only 4-12 hours for sprouting. Have you found that a 24h soak works better?
Hi! Just bought your microgreen kit and love your videos! From this video, you didn't add any nutrients and the microgreens turned out really well! Was just wondering what difference do you see by adding nutrients and do you think it is necessary for just home consumption?
I’ve been using your sprouting jar set up for some time now and they work great. I use 10x20 trays using the method from earlier videos. ( been studying/watch your videos for some time-even have your book ) just wondering how using the dome with no blackout or weight compares to using blackout & weights? Keep up the good work, thank you.
Another amazing video. I'd be interested to see the result you didn't do black out on the sprouts I feel like they would probably look similar on the same day as microgreens
Thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it! We haven't done one for Broccoli yet, but we did exactly what you're talking about for fenugreek sprouts in this video - ruclips.net/video/gKauI-IJyQ0/видео.html
I'm always amazed by these videos, I hope that one day I'll be doing this as well. Are there any special requirements for a space to do this in? Like temperature and humidity? The one space I could theoretically do this in is my shed. While sturdy, it is still influenced by outside temperatures, and it probably won't do well with too much humidity/dampness forming inside.
Wow, you are a natural born teacher. This video is so well done and very torough & informative. ( it was kind of funny, I would have a question, and boom you'd answer my question...it was like I was right there.
Nice video, thank you.......I've tried to purchase your microgreen trays but out of stock....very frustrating.....not even available on Amazon....thanks anyway....I tried.
It's 2 to 3 times per day, and it really just depends on where they are at in their growth and if they look like they could use water or not! Typically, I still aim for 3 times per day. Morning, lunch, and dinner 🌱🌱 thanks for watching!
@@OnTheGrow Thank you. It’s my first time doing it in jars with broccoli and mung beans. When I did my rinse tonight (day 2) the broccoli were a little dry. So I think they will need 3 times a day. 😁🌱
Dang, no clear winner. Historically, by volume, I have grown many more micro greens using your products and tutorials. I kind of prefer the micro green process but I love the crunch of some of the sprouts, especially in Pho.
Your method of cleaning the growing medium is so complicated. You can just pull them off like a carpet and a gentle scrub with a brush gets the remainder off, takes about 1 minute.
I've had broccoli sprouts and I remember liking them, or I don't remember disliking them. But I grew broccoli micro greens recently and will never do that again. They had just this odd, almost savory taste. Definitely not for me

Agree… I always give them 2-3 days under light, they turn green & grow even more in volume 😊
Great video. Might want to add a notify tab to your store so we can get those trays when they are back in stock. Thanks

hello, does the broccoli microgreen have just as much sulforaphane in it?
Long time not see ❤❤
I'm seeing white stuff on my microgreens is it micro roots or mold? How to identify?
It looks like like it might be more expensive then buying broccoli sprouts Or micro greens?
2 or 3 times a day? Which is it and what determines it? Thanks for sharing! 🌱

You only get one harvest from the microgreens? They don’t keep growing?
U only get 1 harvest from a full grown lettuce, or carrot, or sprouts

why can't you reuse the roots and stems
WHATS WITH THE ADAMS APPLE
Roots looked a little brown and rotted on the micro green batch. Mushy when you were scraping them.
It happens, even with soil or coco coir sometimes. Can't always control what living organisms will do 🌱🌱
giant gourami and rabbit can eat fresh corn fruit silk just let you know
I’m definitely going for micro and baby greens as it so much easier to harvest and repeat.

It’s for health- it doesn’t have to be tasty
Broccoli is savory did u expect it to be sweet?
Microplastics. You should switch to stainless steel everything.
Prettiest chick that grows
nearly impossible to grow broccoli sprouts. Ask for mone back if so. I tried. Need specialized climate control or they rot.
