30:52 fun fact: The little girl playing the voice of baby coco is the actual daughter of Hector’s voice actor (Gael Garcia Bernal), so it’s a real father & daughter singing together. 🥰
Imagine people many years later knowing this fact when they're both old or pass away.. It's such a sweet moment and memory between them they made to last forever😭💕
The Aztec/Mayan god Xolotl, who was dog like, guided people to the underworld and was believed to have created the Xoloitzcuintli dog breed to also help guide people and to protect them in death. Dante is a Xoloitzcuintli which is why he can travel with Miguel to the land of the dead
Your reaction to the Hector/Coco reveal was gold, I'm so glad the movie kept y'all guessing right till the end because that was perfect 😂 Loved this reaction so much you guys!! Keep the Disney reactions coming, really looking forward to Movie Mondays!!!
Imelda didn’t know that Hector was murdered until Miguel told her. But she was still upset that Hector left her on her own with a child. Remember, he was gone long enough to write Coco a bunch of letters (so probably a few years). Eventually he got homesick and tried to leave Ernesto, which is when he murdered him so he could get his songs. But that was long after he first left home. It was hard being a single mom, especially in those days when most women were housewives. Imelda was still hurt that Hector left her in the first place. He left to pursue his dream of becoming a famous musician. So Imelda was angry and banned music from her life since that’s what Hector left her for. She then made sure her family always put family first. I agree she went too far with it, but you can understand why when you look at it from her perspective.
A mark of a great movie are all the little details like that, much how a painter would add references that shed light on its meaning if you know what to look for. Another cool detail in Coco is that Hector is barefoot throughout most of the movie, showing his separation from the rest of his family who are all shoe makers. Only at the end, once Hector reunites with his family, does he have shoes.
Coco had Alzheimer’s. Several of my family members have had it, so I recognized it right away. It’s very heartbreaking. 🥺 That’s why Coco was getting people’s names wrong and forgetting her father. Music is very powerful and can trigger memories. 🎶
26:53 nah, not smoking anything. A lot of Mexican novellas that our abuelitas watched had crazy dramatic twists in it. That’s why there’s always parodies of them, like someone murdering their best friend to marry their husband or an evil twin coming out of nowhere to murder or something. Always expect a twist😂
Also, the Day of The Dead is not a sad holiday for us. We clean our family members graves, put up pictures of them on our Ofrenda, like in this movie, along with their favorite foods and things they enjoyed in life. We remember them and laugh and talk and we aren’t sad, we are celebrating the life they lived and what they passed on to us.
Día de los muertos is indeed day of the dead in Mexico, we celebrate not death itself but the life that the person lived and the memories we shared together and it lasts two whole days. And the dog just like the cat are spirit guides, alebrijes, who guide the spirits of the dead. He was Miguel’s spirit guide. Also not so fun fact this movie is based on a true story that Disney ripped off and made millions with not giving the original one anything. Also the reason the jacket looks so big on Hector is because mariachi jackets tend to be really thick if you notice like the guy shining his shoes or even de la Cruz.
If you are talking about The Book of Life, those two movies are very different. The only similarities are that they both take place during the Day of the Dead and how colorful they both are. Mexico is known for having bright, vibrant colors so that similarity shouldn't be a surprise. And they both take place during the Day of the Dead...well, so? How many Halloween movies are there? No one calls them ripoffs. The story lines are vastly different.
31:05 I read that Hector's voice actor did bring his real daughter to sing with him on this sequence. Which makes it even more touching at my point of view.
I celebrate "Dia de Los Muertos" every year but after seeing Coco I don´t let any of my relatives out of my altar 😆 from great-grandfather to my latest relatives. After my father died I started to make my altar more creative and beautiful, last year I put monarch butterflies in it. It shows respect and love for the ones that are gone and we genuinely believe that that day they will come and visit. It´s a beautiful tradition!! As a Mexican, I think they did a really good job on the meaning of it. I liked a lot your reaction, thank you!!
An ofrenda is made of all the pictures of your loved ones who have passed on.. if their picture is not on an ofrenda they can not visit you on November 2nd…
I love this movie so much, I cried the whole way through it the first time I saw it haha I'm so excited you are gonna do more movie reactions!!🤩 Great video guys, greetings from Costa Rica 🇨🇷
I thought Coco stood out as a dark Disney film because it's a Pixar film first. Pixar Studios pride themselves on making the audience cry. They're rarely afraid to go to dark places to tell their stories.
idk why but since im working on movies/series/audio projects myself and having released one recently seeing people react to other kind of cinematography art just gives me so much inspiration!
“This film explains what “Día de Muertos” is. This is a Mexican celebration on November the 2nd. People mistakes it with halloween but as you can see it has nothing in common.
It's strange seeing the iconic trio become a duo here! But I'm glad that the two of you had a good time! I don't know what it is about the "twist", but I still never saw it coming. Like Miguel, I was completely starry-eyed by this new, music-loving world. He finally found a place that accepted him, including somebody who he thought was family. I was so happy for him! Miguel's only known suffocation and labor in his short life at the hands of his "real" family, after all. If not for the threat of his (and Hector's) life ending, I'm surprised that they were able to make him leave!
Great reaction! Coco just melts hearts. I have to say I feel a little bit worried about De La Cruz, he seems to have a very strange fetiche towards bells... Or rather the bells towards him... ANYWAY, we must forget him.
My grandmother is 94 (I’m going to be 27) but my cousin have children who are in college now so their great grandmother is my grandmother even tho we’re close ish in age 🤣🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♂️
I absolutely love you guys reactions the reference you make and everything being from South London just make sense you guys are hilarious keep it up ❤️🤩😂
If you want to go on with beautiful cinematographic artworks I definitely recommend you THE PRINCE OF EGYPT (1998) by Dreamworks. A veery underrated masterpiece. Very sad. Even though it's about Moses's religious story, everyone can enjoy (or suffer with) it. It goes about the evolution of the relationship between two brothers. Stunning 2d animation (so detailed and foreshadowing, full of symbolism, amazing CGI, it took 2 years to animate just the most famous thing that Moses did), stunning ost (Hans Zimmer) and songs (Stephen Schwartz)... The characters are also intriguing. The protagonist isn't protrayed as the stereotypical hero. Like for example at the beginning he doesn't want to see the harsh reality and when he knows about his own reality and denies it. He gets to know sacrifice. He suffers knowing that some of "his" deeds will affect innocent people... The antagonist also shows us his humanity. The pressure he feels, his struggles, his pain when his hopes get crushed... I personally think people should emphatize more with the antagonist, since many of us would do the same as him if we were on his feet.
greetings brothers, in México you will be received with open arms, when you decide to live the tradition of the day of the dead, bless you, and your families. 🙏🙏 PD. excuse my writing so bad 🥹🥹🥹🥹
Guys first time watching and love your reaction, if you ever want to live this tradition, come to Mexico in the first 2 days of November, in November the 1st we commemorate the kids and babies that are gone, and in November the 2nd the rest of our dead relatives, we build altars and put in their favorite foods, drinks and stuff they liked. If you ever come for the Día de Muertos (Day of the dead), go to the state of Michoacan. I'm sure you would love it, because even if the theme is dead, this is a party.
Actually, there's a short film about the lamp on the begining. It's called " Luxo Jr ". It's funny because Ernesto de la Cruz will never have the final death because now, everyone remember of him as the guy who murdered his best friend and stole his songs
Always love seeing yall reaction to these, coco is pretty good. You guys should watch megamind too if you haven't already I would be interested in what you think
Real nice reaction you guys! New subscriber here! Found you guys through your Encanto movie reaction, checked out your ATLA reactions (when I tell you I was rushing through those videos and staying up late to view them, that's how much I enjoyed your watch of it, y'alls perspective, insight, and thoughts), and knew I had to sub then and there. I'm not sure if it is something y'all will like or not, but I would love to see a reaction potentially to Disney's 'Turning Red' if you're down to give it a chance. Either way, looking forward to more series and movie reactions from you guys!
Me encantó su reacción, se ven muy rudos pero se les humedecieron los ojos, ojalá y puedan reaccionar a videos d l día d muertos para poder entender un poco más la cultura mexicana
Whether he was murdered or not, when Hector died he left a single mother behind. That would make someone mad bitter, being THAT bitter so much so the whole family can’t enjoy music is a bit much but then we don’t get the story. Heh
There is No Waaay this movie gets less than Encanto! 😅 This movie is so much better! Agreed Encantos music is better! But the story itself, this hands down is 10 outta 10!!! Plus it’s a real tradition in Mexico. 🇲🇽 Just sooo much better. Encanto I haven’t seen again since the first time seeing it, soundtrack of course listened, but the movie is whatever tho.
11:55 “what the hell is all if this?!” It’s heaven, land of the remembered. 13:56 “that’s no spirit guide, that’s a monster” oof, if you think that, you should see Voodoo and other folk religions my guy :p. This movie is all about Mexican culture, if you understand this, you begin to understand what is is to be Mexican.

This is my favorite Coco fact! it's so cute! 😀
Don’t make me cry 😭
Omg really❤❤❤❤❤ that's so amazing😊😊
AWEE I NEVER KNEW THAT 😭🩵💙

I adore xolos 🥰
Also the name Dante is a call out to Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy (but in that Virgil lead Dante through hell and purgatory)
"the dots are starting to connect"
One of the best dots is the guitar having a gold tooth, just like Hector

Not you saying a few years. Imelda was a bitter woman from the beginning
@@angelaroberts3563 I think she only became bitter after he started leaving for too long
It was several months. Hector mentions it in the setup of the flashback of the night he died.
Dante kept leading Miguel to his actual Great Great Grandfather.
