A: Football: Dave Campbell's Rankings (At gametime. I will not amend.) Other Sports: Maxpreps. Rankings are with respect to classification. ie: 6A, 5A, 4A, etc..
Q: Where are you filming next?
A: I never say beforehand. FYI, my general rules for picking games are a combination of multiple factors, including state ranking, competitiveness, atmosphere, location, and potential for additional storylines. Definitely not limited to only those factors.

One of the most dominant and complete high school football teams I’ve ever seen in my life. To me, 2021 Austin Westlake was not only the best team in the country that year, that very well could’ve been one of the 5 greatest Texas teams of all time.
Almost 7,000 views of a complete game in 42 minutes.
Damn shame only 106 likes at this point.......C'mon Man help the dude out.
Professional at what he does.......outstanding job.

@@Nunya_Argo79 I completely agree with you. Mater Dei is loaded to the brim with D1 athletes and some serious future NFL players (#4 is absolutely unstoppable) but Westlake is no pushover. They have the #1 QB in the country and are just as well coached as Mater Dei. It wouldn’t be a blow out by any means like it was with Duncanville.

Yeah, bro Westlake gonna repeat. I knew Westlake would win but I thought Katy would be the first team that would make Westlake struggle, at least a little. Westlake doesn't have any weaknesses. Even their backups are balling.

@@christianoconnor4184 Katy's ranking was a fluke, state and DEFINITELY national...and it took an entire season for Westlake to play one game of any kind of substance...70-7, 77-0, 56-0, 63-10, 70-14...Duncanville is either your #1 or #2 team.

I think the Katy of old is finally done. They got killed by zoning, for 2 new high schools. Tompkins is a good playoff team now and Paetow is going to state in 5A.
Coach Joseph has got to be pushing 70 and has been there since 1982. Changes on the way? Good run though: 15 state finals, 9 championships (actually should be 10 but UIL took one away 😋)
@@heidi7151 New schools in Katy and other teams around the State that has open enrollment plus there are schools that recruit. Tough to compete with that. Coach Joseph does a lot with what he has and is in the Texas High School Hall of Fame. This 2021 team and the 2022 team had the weakest defensive secondaries I've ever seen at Katy.

So if there are 2 divisions in Texas 6A football, how do they determine which team is the best in the state being that there are separate playoffs? What makes Westlake better than North Shore? Has the best team in Texas ever come from the 5A conference?
They created 2 divisions because 6A has a HUGE enrollment span. From the smallest (South Garland-2151 students) to the largest (Allen-6959 students). I guess they could just make 1A-12A (getting rid of the 2 divisions per classifications).
It would be interesting to see a TRUE title game. The champion from 6a d1 vs 6a d2.
So up until the... (2014?) 5A was the largest classification. Since the addition of 6a, I think only a few of the Aledo and Denton Ryan teams would be able to contend for an overall title.

Westlake's talent fluctuates while MD is constant (at least up until now). It's hard for the national powers to predict when an opponent will be good.

I think we all agree on that. Katy was a top 5 team but NS may be the second best team in state just as they were last year.
Having said that, WL has a way of making great teams look bad. This WL team is much improved of last years team.
