One of the most dominant and complete high school football teams I’ve ever seen in my life. To me, 2021 Austin Westlake was not only the best team in the country that year, that very well could’ve been one of the 5 greatest Texas teams of all time.
@@Nunya_Argo79 I completely agree with you. Mater Dei is loaded to the brim with D1 athletes and some serious future NFL players (#4 is absolutely unstoppable) but Westlake is no pushover. They have the #1 QB in the country and are just as well coached as Mater Dei. It wouldn’t be a blow out by any means like it was with Duncanville.

So if there are 2 divisions in Texas 6A football, how do they determine which team is the best in the state being that there are separate playoffs? What makes Westlake better than North Shore? Has the best team in Texas ever come from the 5A conference?
They created 2 divisions because 6A has a HUGE enrollment span. From the smallest (South Garland-2151 students) to the largest (Allen-6959 students). I guess they could just make 1A-12A (getting rid of the 2 divisions per classifications). It would be interesting to see a TRUE title game. The champion from 6a d1 vs 6a d2. So up until the... (2014?) 5A was the largest classification. Since the addition of 6a, I think only a few of the Aledo and Denton Ryan teams would be able to contend for an overall title.

Guyers got more skilled position athletes than WestLake can match up with.. Westlake hasn’t faced a high powered offense like Guyers..and Guyers trenches fight harder and are tougher than WestLake has ever played!! I’m callin for an upset, RIGHT NOW!! GO GUYER!!!
