So wild to have been playing toontown so long that I’ve gone from being a child to having a cog job 😅
heard a story about someone who got into business because of toontown so
realest comment
The real question is which cog most accurately matches your job description?
Which job? I still play games all day like I did as a child
😭😭
It's not very often I can say that a 20+ year old MMO has aged better that games half its age.
It's even more poetic that it's also about a game centralized around stopping corporate greed.
That's why I thought the irony was so beautiful
Aged just as well as those from 20+ years ago.
What blows my mind is that the private servers have now been around longer than the original game. Toontown is such a unique case in MMOs and I love seeing how the different teams are always trying to put a new spin on things
same!
Meanwhile, CN took down the Fusionfall servers just to be little shits
Wait... They have been?!
...Fuck, dude.
@@graysongdl FYI CoH private servers exist, too, if you were into that.
@@ca_kay Oh, I was responding to OP. Sorry if my comment was confusing. It was more of a "it's been that long??" sort of thing.
So what you're saying is, we need to make a Toontown a battle royal or an Overwatch clone.
That's exactly what I'm saying
Ngl i would play toontown themed overwatch
A Toontown-themed class-based shooter would be hilarious.
Toon-Up - The Medic, obviously. Juggling could be a spin on TF2's Amputator, where you stand still to AoE heal. Cane could be the same, except weaker, and you can move without cancelling its effect. Megaphone could be a long-range heal with shotgun-style hitreg, whereas either lipstick or pixie dust could be the precise projectile heal (like Crusader's Crossbow in TF2)
Trap - Some spin on the Demoman, with traps that either disorient/debuff. Marbles/spring for disorienting (unwanted movement on the victim's part), quicksand for AoE slowing, banana for stun, TNT for pure damage, rake for damage + single target slow.
Sound is either long-range sustained damage (like the Heavy in TF2) for stuff like foghorn and bugle (latter is more precise like Tomislav), or super short-range single-shot for bike horn.
Squirt is AoE-focused (get it? SPLASH damage?). Squirt gun is hitscan, water balloon is lobbed (like grenade launcher), seltzer could be like TF2's Direct Hit
Throw is all projectile-based, but without splash damage. Which one you go with probably just determines damage & cooldown. Higher levels need longer cooldown, but do massive damage.
5:00 W editing, now every time I see a grey McDonald's I'm probably going to think of this lol.
Unfortunately not my original work. I found it on RUclips from someone who found it from someone else. So I don't even know who made it lol
@@Megasnoop Yo, the creator here :D
I edited that on the fly years ago and I'm just so happy it's spread so far in the community haha, Thanks for using my silly meme Megasnoop!
I'm glad you made it! And i hope you continue to gain recognition for it!
One of my favorite games besides toontown has been terraria. The game has existed since i was growing up and i have never stopped loving it. The devs show so much support they can't even stop updating it to work on a new project. constantly listening to feedback and doing everything to improve the game. that's what gaming should be. I love toontown and the rest of these indie games for the passion and love they put into their projects.
Lets just hope Toontown private servers don’t become like WoW private servers. Blows my mind how they get away with pay to win features. Probably because there are so many of them.
they legally cant, i believe. disney would come after them
It's only been because of goodwill. The private servers have had their fair bit of drama in the past (remember TTI devs RATing the TTR devs like 10+ years ago?), but luckily nothing on the scale of the club penguin private servers which basically locked Disney into taking down any private server on sight.
Toontown? What's that?
I LOVEEEEE TOONTOWN (I have no wife)
Me too but I'm gay
No husband either 🥲
@@shriveax me too im gay we slay in toontown
Just hopped on TTR after 3 years, saw the sound nerf which was crazy tbh. I’m going to have to make a new character to re get into it. Saw a decent player count of like 1500 . Really glad it’s still alive. It’s crazy they’ve been around longer than the actual game.
had to pause the video and go sulk for a couple of minutes when i remembered there was a toonfest in my city and i didn’t know it was happening until a week after it ended 😭 fun video though toontown is the ultimate mmo forever
🙁
So happy to see how much community is still around for this game. Healing my inner child's heartbreak when TTO closed down.
Also side note, what mic do you use? Love the RGB on it!
Happy to hear it! And thanks! It's the HyperX QuadCast S
i cant believe megasnoop is still uploading toontown videos in 2024. 12 year old me would be so happy
Whenever I have a good idea, I still like giving some love to Toontown 🥰
I was just watching my son this morning, and he was watching Mickey and it put toontown into my head. Came straight here to see how it looks after like 4 years 😂
MEGASNOOP LETS GOOO
Watching this while waiting for my group to fill😂
Toontown a fighting MMORPG would be fire! Like have a Fortnite style 😂 that’d be funny but instead of guns we use gags 😂
6:16 there i am gary there i am!
You're actually in this video twice!
@@Megasnoop the goat responds 👀
By far the only games I'm waiting for this year is the Epic Mickey Remake thats coming sometime in 2024, and then also the newest expansion for Final Fantasy 14 called Dawntrail coming out on June 28th. You should try it out it has an actual free trial that has unlimited game time and you can play the base game A Realm Reborn and the first two expansions Heavensward and Storm Blood for free!.
If TTO came out today it would be F2P with microtransactions for cosmetics and some events and I bet Disney would rake in the money
I think the runaway success of MeepCity in the past (and even now) basically shows that nothing was ever wrong with TT, it was just a lack of focus from Disney. I don't know what motivated them to almost completely drop the game after around ~2008-2009, but it was a mistake regardless. They could've revamped the revenue model with a new game (i.e. by adding cosmetic microtransactions but not locking most content), and probably made the money back several times over because servers are extremely cheap nowadays, but that ship has sailed I guess.
With how disconnected so many triple A companies have been with their communities lately, it's been really hard to have as much faith in those games compared to indie creators who *know* game experiences so much better and don't have to carry their understanding of their playerbase through a hierarchy of demanding publishers and limiting executives. Hooray, freedom to make something that isn't a Fortnite/Overwatch clone!!
As someone seeking a future career in the game industry (audio) I've met a lot of indie devs in the community and at my college who love making games just for the sake of games -- especially ones they love playing for themselves, and a lot of the time for -free-. (Not even just fan games like Toontown revivals, Undertale Yellow, modpacks and romhacks etc. but legitimately just original games for free) Growing up, the idea of spending so much time and effort into unpaid efforts seemed so unrealistic and useless. But eventually, you learn that there's *always* value in making something you love, even if it isn't money or the desperate need to display a portfolio piece so that you can land a job doing that same thing.
Games are art. New cogs, areas, gags, and toon looks are art. The power to create these things, to adhere to and evolve a 20 year old artstyle and experience, to struggle endlessly trying to program something basic in a 20 year old game engine, to continue to love and provide for an abandoned and once corporately gripped 20 year old franchise... That, too, is art. It's the kind we want to see more of in this industry, something that no amount of money can provide. (except for helping those creators live stable lives and, in this case, game servers)
This was a great watch and I think more people should feel validated for experiencing or creating passion projects more for the passion than for the project. If you ask me, video editing for four days straight and attempting to garden on camera also counts :]
Dude what another great video man keep it up.
that's crazy!!! i thought you were talking about corporate clash until you said "that's not the only toontown game a"
I don't know how I just saw this 😅 but just want to say, you have come a long way! I remember when your videos were just voice over. Love seeing the growth! Awesome video 😊
I appreciate it! Glad you liked it tho!
sorry i didn't wait to leave a comment til you were done talking
And you did great!
What's a tonto town
I just stubbed my toe... thanks... :(
So happy for the Toontown community... its so lively now!
was an OG subscriber of yours back from 2015, and left TTR on about 2018 when the game was dead, and I maxed out my toon.
Would love to return to it someday, but for now, life is just too busy!
see u then, Megasnooper
Wait what??? ToonTown??? A game that's been kept alive for 20+ years is the one that crushed Triple A gaming?!?!?!?....Weeiirrdd...
If I were to get a Windows gaming setup, this is one of the games that I will never uninstall
It makes me so happy to see Toontown get the love it deserved! It is amazing to see the development of both Rewritten and Corporate Clash 😄
Very good points made
12:25
Thats a 8bit mix of Chao Hero Garden from Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.
10:34
**INCORRECT BUZZER SOUND**
No they dont they just make the game worse and worse both game and story
i love ttr so much, gonna max my 4 toons then im gonna play corperate clash. i genuinely believe i will be playing this game for the next 10 years and im so excited
I mean tbf. i could get a slice of toast throw it in a toaster then throw that toaster in a swimming pool and the toast would come out better than most of these triple A games
Love the editing on this video Mr. Snoop, you just keep improving
I'm watching this on my 2nd monitor while in a cog bldg👀👀
also, I think I have you as a friend on clash. ;P
unironically, i consider toontown better then half of the new mmorpgs that have been made in the recent years
Dawg, you are COOKING with these new videos ‼️ 🗣️🔥
This was fast. I thought this was coming out in a few days. 👍
1:56 this is so real
Great video man. I hope more people come to Toontown (rewritten) :)
I actually quite like the new mcdonalds look
"This is a video about how indie games are better than triple-A games!!!"
"RUclips... this is the 7th week in a row you've shown a video about how indie games are better than triple-A games in class."
Yeah but this one has TOONTOWN in it!
@@Megasnoop You've got a point there! It's not often an indie team has the insane dedication to fund an entire game MMO out of pocket, while selling plushies they see 0% profits from.
Thank you for the video.
Recently got my fiancé into toontown and now shess hooked 😂
Wait WTF this game is still around.
4:13 Uhhh actually it's modeled after Jesse Schelle
You're so right I'm sorry
the atmosphere of this video qas great. id love an online game to play these days but i have to ask. Do people just speed run the game and only play the most efficent way? Are there enough new players to provide a sense of "lets find out and finding out is fun"? either way your video may have conviced me to try!
There's definitely always new players and with it being Toontown, the "Elitism for the most efficient strats" player count is fairly low
@@Megasnoop thanks for the reply! I've been trying out mmos and effenicy usually wares down the experience for me!
Only two Toontowns?
idk bout that, I hear there's an Operation going on to bring forth a rainStorm of Desserts from the Horizon. It's gonna be a pretty big Event, not just for some up-and-coming ones, but across every single one of the Realms we call a Toontown server...
(admittedly, the parts of the two longer names are out of order but hey, context clues, amirite? Don't knock the smaller ones til they get some serious updates going.)
anyone ever tell u that you look like brian wilson from the beach boys
To note; Fortnite added their battle royale game mode on a whim to their zombie game on the popularity of PUBG, but Fortnite became more popular so eh.
awesome vid!
How has Disney not sued them or sent them a cease and desist?
The Toontown servers aren't generating any revenue and they haven't had any malicious intent so Disney really just hasn't cared and it isn't worth their time to do anything about it.
Plus it could be bad PR to shut down just a wholesome little community project
it makes me so happy that toontown is still around and doing well :')
Great video man love our small community this update is amazing and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store toontown is doing better than ever
Skull And Bones more like Assassin's GREED 4
respectfully this isnt roblox
Why can't both be examples of good gaming communities?
@@Megasnoop sorry i used to watch you as a kid and just saw this and decided to comment the most dumb thing i thought of in 2 seconds
@@BemmyBlox No worries! Looks like you grew quite a community yourself too! Keep on keeping on my dude 😀
I’d like to comment on your talk about developers under corporate not as to disagree with you but to push the conversation to be more respectful.
First I think its a bit disingenuous to imply that the rare devs were unpassionate making Banjo Kazooie Nurs and Bolts. Yes much of the original staff had changed, but there were still many members there from the n64 days. Likewise for the franchise of Banjo Kazooie having, possibly at this point the final game, be such a far cry from the platformers before it does suck, but that shouldn’t be the only point of comparison for the game. I like how they tried for the angular style, even if it didn’t hit it’s marks. For 2008, the vehicle builder is impressive, and wasn’t something being done. They weren’t just following trends even despite how much the characters talk about “modernizing”. From the initial teaser of Banjo Threeie to release its clear there was a lot of love and ideas but sometimes it just doesnt work out, and that can be because of corporate and takeovers, but they were still passionate.
I’m not as familiar with toontown and the fan remakes but I do know they also had lots of unfinished work and ideas that the fan teams have fully finished or taken inspiration from. Its unfortunate they werent able to complete it but its still good that their work is able to see the light of day. (including that one big leak)
Of course! I'd hope to not throw any shade towards them specifically as every game development goes on a case by case basis.
For Banjo specifically since you brought it up, I followed the developers that worked on the original as they moved onto make Playtonic games and helped support their new IP Yooka-Laylee's Kickstarter, and I absolutely LOVED that game regardless of any other critics or reviews.
I can only think there was probably some meddling done by Microsoft after Rare was purchased and Nuts and Bolts was created because of how different it was, and how the team had changed over time, but always applaud new innovation and the choice to take a risk with a new direction. It IS important for franchises to grow and evolve so they don't get stale, and sometimes that just doesn't work out.
Thank you for your comment and perspective!
Yoooooo that me at the end
But megasnoop... do you garden?
What's the name of that underwater game you showed at 12:20?
Subnautica
6:40 correction; you needed 7 back 9s (if there in invasions), not 14, which is still 7 hours
In the original TTO, they didn't intend the game to have constant invasions running all the time to always give double promotion XP, that's something the players did to counteract the terrible grinding conditions.
Disney's full intent and game design would have had you do 14.
@@Megasnoop oh mb, thats true unless you were in nutty river
I have updated my cog suits to v2.0. The options I've gotten for Bossbot are 15200. That's about 7 Final Fringes (not 4). Maybe you meant 'equivalent to 4 Back 9s'. But, it's true, they are shorter. You also really burn through pink slips quickly that way. I'm still hoping for the golf bag backpack drop🤞.
My comparison was from level 49 Big Cheese on TTO to Level 49 Big Cheese on TTR. But yes the 2.0 grind is a bit more demanding.
@@Megasnoop gotcha!
@@laureencriss8220wait for September cartoonival, if you want an easier grind
2.0 suits are closer to the TTO grind according to the developers but still shorter because the facilities are shorter.
Regular grind is a lot shorter I think it may even be less than 4 Fringes.
@@exterminator9676 Yeah. I'm still doing them. I love the game--even during the grind--haha.
I love it. I love the community
Got back on Toontown at the beginning of the year after 5 years away. I'm so impressed by the community! ToonHQ and groups like ATTA (Adult Toontown Addicts) have made it so easy to find people to play with, and make playing the game in general so much fun!
Preach Megasnoop! Preach!
W video

5:02 😂😂
short answer: it's not
Toontown is the biggest game of the century, perhaps in all of humanity.
stopped watching the second you called X twitter… why u gotta be a soft lefty
Tis a joke lmaoooooooo I'm surprised you let that ruin the whole video for you
& still, despite being more advanced than Rewritten, Clash still can't get that upper hand on. Rewritten Forever!
