I know it's a scrimmage and these are just the highlights, but once again Painter's biggest problem is going to be finding playing time for all of this talent. They won't be as consistent as they were with Edey, but they should be really fun to watch.
Purdue has always had good team, good players, ......its seems since the big 3 (Orton, Johnson , Moore) the talent up and down the bench has gone to higher level. And on top of that... Purdue is now the cradle of quarterbacks, astronauts, BIG MEN...( really big, athletic, basketball players over 7 feet) ... oh.. it also seems like our point guards have gone to another level as well. Always had good points... not great. Edwards, Ivey and Smith--- never had points like that back in the 80s or 90s or 2000s .. we had good one like Everette Stephens and Tony Jones (80s) and I love those guys .. they won tons of game... And on more thing...I watched a lot of film from last year. The hustle factor is way UP.. the stats that don't make the stat sheet... tipped passes, quality in bounds plays... guys ON THE FLOOR getting loose balls. .... I think I saw Zac Edey go to the floor 4-5 time last year for a loose ball... he always came away with the possession.... good hands.. so many times Purdue players got good hands on tough rebounds last year.. that is physical condition and resolve (Gillis was the best at that)
By the end of this video I am certain that Braden Smith has picked up a step of quickness. He is moving like lightning and both he and Fletch are running their cuts with out the ball at an indefensible speed. This team will be special.
No TKR at the 5 or Heide at the 4. Seems like Painter wants to stay with two bigs. Jacobsen impressed on offense. Berg has a soft touch too. But I think Furst is the safe play alongside TKR. I like Colvin starting over Heide.
Scoring looks good, no problems there. Who will defend, every play, every game, all season long, like the B1G championship depended on it??? We shall see/learn. Boiler up!!!
I thought the same. BYU has scorers, but they looked like an AAU team. I think they'll be good offense but definitely will have a poor defensive ranking
I don't know what video you watched but in this scrimmage, guards shined. Most impressed with freshman guards Harris and Cox. They look ready to contribute.
Starting 5 1st game: Smith, Loyer, TKR, Furst, Colvin… play a lot: Harris, Heide, Berg… everyone else is not gonna play much. I see Furst getting supplanted by someone… Colvin is the key to the season.
I’m really excited to watch this team. Deep bench. Tons of talent.
Yeah… this team is going to win a lot of games! 🚂🚂

CJ is a bucket getter! Wow! Can't wait to watch this team in Mackey on Jan 5!
Can't wait! Only a few more weeks!
Not related to this scrimmage, but it will be a bonus to seasoned fans to have ‘The Big Dog’ back in Mackey for most home games this season.
Major talent on this team top to bottom. They will be very, very deep and very, very skilled everywhere. The young guys are looking really good.
Great editing
Thanks for uploading! 🚂🚂
This team can legitimately go 5 Out. There are shooters EVERYWHERE.

Braden is gonna be a problem for the b10
B18😊
Braden Smith is the most underrated player in the nation
Smith is going to be a NPTY candidate. He is such a great point guard.
Everyone can shoot 3's and if you want to double team inside they can light you up from outside!

Dude we actually b deep at gaurd cox and harris both can hoop
Quicker and more balanced compared to last year
Benter to Burgess made me so happy.
Passes…….and passers. Team looks to be full of them ;-)

I agree Furst is a safe play, however that would leave us very undersized with Furst and TKR, Maybe a run and gun year!! (eyes emoji)
Is anyone else dizzy from watching this?
Yes!
Agreed
CJ got a couple of quick lessons from Smith about ball handling, but he'll be better for it.

'Defense wins games/championships'
Unlike the BYU and Illinois clips, our guys are playing D.

Tough!!
Fun to watch. We need someone to step up and be a good ball handler. A Lance Jones replacement. Guard play is still our weakness outside of Smith.

I've heard multiple rumors of Harris being a possible starter with Loyer and Smith
Starting 5 1st game: Smith, Loyer, TKR, Furst, Colvin… play a lot: Harris, Heide, Berg… everyone else is not gonna play much. I see Furst getting supplanted by someone… Colvin is the key to the season.
Daniel Jacobsen will play.
Loyer will ounce again be the key. Hes going to have to make a significant jump in shooting much more
I like this line up. It was the fastest.
Furst better be able to score more.
I had to stop watching 50 secs in. That camera work made me nauseous. 🤮
Yeah they should have ran a camera from birds eye to the floor.
Boiler Up!
