Hey! when I made this video, I assumed catapults would get fixed! it seems they have not. However, this exact trap works with a cannon as well! There is a clip of me using it in my solo small tribes series, the second episode of the series! hope this helps!
I tamed 3 high level Karkinos yesterday with this. If you encounter the catapult bug where it doesn't connect when it should (and you verified with several unmissable shots first, cause you do need to aim lower than the target because of how the catapult throws the boulders in an overhand motion) the just exit the game and boot it up again and it connected with shots just fine for me after that. (tame #2 I encountered the bug) Just stand up on the raised portion where the catapult is and you should be able to reboot the game without getting killed by anything. Thanks so much for sharing this trap!

You can use cannons instead. in ASE, you lose tonnes of effectiveness from this method, but with ASA, somehow it works with 100% effectiveness. However, you can only miss 1 time, if you miss a second time, the karkinos is definitely gonna die. you can try to give it dead bodies to avoid it dying. with cannons its only one shot at well, one shot in between the head and back shell, its down. hope this helps.

You don't need a nasa pc for Abberation, Here's my recommendation. Swap General Shadows & Global Illumination to epic. Save, then change them to Medium/low. Save and relog into the server. That will fix the flashing gradient lighting in the distance. Then try using these commands is clean up some of the renders: r.VolumetricCloud 0, r.VolumetricFog 0, r.DynamicGlobalIlluminationMethod 2, grass.desityScale 0.
Trap worked perfectly! Catapult sometimes works and sometimes doesnt. I killed my level 10 crab because it was already fighting stuff before I started, but it's so easy to capture one now that I didn't mind.
I tested quite a few methods since Abb came out and I think my favourite is still the one I used in ASE: Paracer with a platform saddle, put a cannon at the end of its back, get Karkinos to attack the Paracer from behind. Cheap to set up and quite easier than most other methods
that does sound very nice ngl, I think I prefer the raft method, only because you can essentially rush crabs on spawn in. I've had pvp starts in the past where I've been on a crab in the first like hour of spawning in fresh.
Hey man. Shavenupperlip had the same issues with the lighting in his streams. In the end I think he tweaked the Global Illumination settings and such, and it is much much better. So it might be worth checking out.

So i thought that maybe some ceiling/hatchframe would be good ;)
My fav way is having 2 cannons off the back of a pararacer facing all the way down. Just have the crab follow you and boom boom off back when they get in range
I legit dropped a pillar on the side of of my spino trap. dropped it lower snap almost ground height. added a few ceilings and a canon. Without aiming or anything i can 1 face shot any crab
Hmm.. in ASE i just need those catapult+ammo and a net gun (not sure ASA alrdy have net gun yet) so just need to net the crab the just put the catapult down then shot it also put large bear trap in between the crab and the catapult.
Heh, we do not officially have net guns yet in ASA, HOWEVER, someone made a mod you can use on singleplayer or your own hosted server that adds a working net gun.
@@toastiionark u are right but take less chances of killing it and lowering effectiveness on a hight percentage. In other words the splash damage u do with the cannon is less than hitting catapults in the wrong places
I killed a 135 and just stole the baby :) sure you loose the levels from the taming bonus but taming these things is such a pain I didn't feel like dealing with it again
Don't trust Ark programING you will spend hours building your game just ta have it crash with no backup they are theifs. My kids have cried many time emotions ran deep punch you for all the times they cried.
You can hold the left or right mouse buttons to grab things which can be used to move tames, wild dinos, etc. Makes farming stone and metal a breeze since you can just carry a doed/anky to some rocks and get what you need super easily. That and they're aight for combat/traversal too.

Also you can use platform carts if spam is an issue.

i get good fps on abb, it just doesn't look that good, when i use a bunch of commands i get like 120 fps average

Just used a spino to tank em as i placed gates around it then cleared the threats and tamed at leisure.

Cannon dont double hit or do splash so useing them on karks is perfect its a 1 shot nice and easy
I think cannon tanks the effectiveness tho, unless they changed it

@toastiionark I tamed a 150 I lucked upon the other day with a single cannonball to its face. 99.9% taming effectiveness when I started the tame.
