  • A Toastmaster 20" box fan model 4433A in gray. This looks like a run of the mill box fan from the front, but the inside of the unit is far from standard. This houses a 1 amp PSC motor, as opposed to the 2 amp McMillan or Edison shaded pole motors typically found in these fans. A side to side comparison is certainly in order to confirm, but this doesn't seem quite as powerful as the shaded pole motor ones. I believe this is a very rare configuration. While I am not too familiar with the lineup of these Toastmaster fans over the years, I've seen quite a few and never found one like this.

These were made in Boonville Missouri. They ceased fan production in 1996. Had family that worked there. That was the one last generation from 1995 the 1996 and final version had slightly different grills with " tabs" on the top and bottom corners where they slipped into the cabinet.

That blade design started way back with the Edison Thin n' Lite models of the 1970s.

This is the exact model I have. Everything about it is the same. Unfortunately the bearings started getting gummed up and eventually would just hum but yesterday I took the motor out and fixed it. Been using it every since, it's a good sleeping fan bc it drowns out all the noise.

I don't know what you're talking about, SMC/Midea is still manufacturing fans for The Home Depot to this day.

Looks like a very odd and rare fan to find online or in the store.

Wonder if maybe at some point it had a different motor and it burned out. Could have maybe produced some heat in one particular area that melted the gard.
Someone may have replaced the motor at some point, which would explain the odd motor and the melted the gard.

It’s original, this is the very last motor Toastmaster used in the mid to late 90s before they stopped selling fans.

Nice find! These seem to be very rare, I come across them with the McMillan motor sometimes, but I’ve never found one with this motor, though I’d like to.
This is the very last iteration of these fans, from about 1996-97. Well, not quite the last iteration, because the true final version had different grilles, which snap in at the top and bottom and only have one screw on each side.
Nice to see a thorough look at one of these, there are very few videos of them and most aren’t in depth.
