He wanted to stop, he wanted to die, he wanted to go back to his life before being exposed to radiation, and mutating. All this is proved in the lyrics, He was afraid to be forgeted, his body told him to keep moving, to strike fear into japan, so he would never be forgotten. He was distressed, his roars were cries for help, for salvation to kill him, he felt pain just from breathing, being alive pained him, he did all this just to numb the pain, his suffering.

I like the other forms and think it's a really creative and interesting take on Godzilla. Him being able to evolve from a fish to a god is something I would never have even thought of! However, I do like that the movie only shows a glipse of the 5th form. It leaves a lot to the imagination and it makes the audience feel a sense of dread over their impending doom.
Godzilla: King Kong? What is a King to a god? Kong: And what is a god to a non-believer? Godzilla: DO YOU BELIEVE NOW? **atomic breath** Kong: **monke flip**
I always thought that the final shot of the movie could represent that it was adapting to evolve into a colony lifeform. No matter how powerful it became, a bunch of humans co-operating efficiently were able to topple it, and it had to adapt to that. Become more like us to cope with us.
Can i just say, i absolutely LOVE this idea of Godzilla. flipping the concept of humans accidentally creating life through destruction, I like Shin Godzilla way more than others because it instead makes Godzila a true MONSTER. Not a defender of earth that does a flying kick and fights robots, but an accidental creature that leaves nothing in its wake, the destruction incarnate. His existence is like a warning to all humanity, that all of our actions affect the world, and hopefully we didn't make the same choices that humanity made in this movie. The choice to continue selfishly destroying one another, as the final competitor wipes us all out, that competitor... is Shin Godzilla, the Destruction Incarnate.
Alternate movie title: The American's accidentally create an immortal, omnipresent, omnipotent god from dumping nuclear waste in the ocean. Who knew it was so easy to create god?
Well, if a life being don’t stop evolving (considering that evolution always limits itself, the rules don’t apply to this monster) it’s a matter of time he become destructive to itself and to everyone, moral of the story? Learn to balance your game
Also heres the link of shin ghidorah :ruclips.net/video/TuKNKXg8TiE/видео.html.ngl he is very unique because of his gravitational beam and very underrated
I think the eventual evolution into a cosmic god is really cool, but does anyone else dislike the idea of the 5th form where Godzilla turns into a bunch of small humanoid Godzillas? I think it kinda works against the idea of Godzilla just getting bigger and bigger. If it came down to that, Godzilla would be less of one big entity, and more of a faction or race/species of creatures.
They are simply part of him that better allows for colonisation, the smaller they are the more he could make, they'd be able to enter subways and tunnels he couldn't access, he would still be there while they'd do his bidding across the globe
personally the whole god thing is just god damn weird as hell and to me doesnt make allot of sense.... i get the human forms allot more then the god thing
I asume the humanoids would be acting as drones or like ants/bees for the main entity (the big dino thing) them would be acting as a more fine defense line vs shooting lasers in massive scale. I guess.
I think it would have been interesting if, when Shin Godzilla underwent the subdivision evolution, into human-size horrors, that each horror kept self-evolving over time. Most would build defenses or weapons of their flesh to fight, becoming entirely new types, but there might be one single one that self-evolved into a human-like form to be either a communication conduit between humanity and Godzilla...or to be an infiltrator who can assume multiple identities in order to destabilize things to make it easier for the more monstrous ones to continue the advance. The idea that humanity has to learn to fight all these horrors and then discover that ONE of them is able to be talked to, which changes the entire nature of the conflict...
Something similar I always considered was if aging godzillas mini-mes of his fifth form each evolved individually like you said, but the end result being they evolved into the creation of the other daikaijus of the Godzilla franchise.
That goes against the narrative. He doesn't need to be like humans or to destabilise them to keep advancing. He's an unstoppable force on his own. He just respected humans thats why he copied their design. He can keep on evolving up to stage 8 on his own but the pain was just too much to bear for Shin Godzilla so he chose to die.
@@jonathandeza7718 it's not about that. It's about him adapting into new forms to destroy humans. If he'd continued subdividing into smaller horrors like the movie suggested, there might come a time when they'd realize they were having trouble killing humans in that form. That it'd become too difficult. So they'd self-evolve again. Some might get stronger and brutish, some might take new shapes in an attempt to offset human tech-savvy advantages... but maybe there'd be a few that evolved into infiltrators. The first few attempts would be clumsy, and not work except maybe in dark alleys where visibility sucked. But later evolutions... one day you go to the bar, and there's a creepy guy leaning up against the counter. You don't know why but he creeps you out. Then he looks at you and smiles. And then the lead lids snap over his eyes, and he spews a beam of neutron radiation at your face... and that's the last thing you see.
It was a perfect marriage. All my life I get excited when seeing Godzilla appear but Shin was the first time I had a sense of dread. This was legit a threat to the human race and for that it's the best Godzilla movie on my list
I interpret the ending as a critique on humanity. Godzilla is evolving into more destructive forces and the fact that his last evolution is a humanoid, means he understands humans are a far more destructive force which he must evolve into. Mankind created Hiroshima and Nagasaki...
You can just should Nuclear Weapons. There is nothing wrong with Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Don’t make Japanese cities seem like a bad thing. Nuclear weapons is the problem, NOT communities
@@abaddon130 no, I know exactly what he meant that is why I mentioned it. Hiroshima and Nagasaki was not the end of nuclear weapons or advancements. Correction: “American government created hiroshima and nagasaki” Don’t lump us the rest of the human race to that shit. We just chilling somewhere around the world...
While I wanted to see the other forms, I think it's great that hey stopped at 4 and only showed a glimpse of 5. I like the "fight fire with fire concept" where 5 becomes a legion to fight humans, but removing the pain makes him less impactful. Shin Godzilla is now famously known for his constant suffering and I think it's good that they kept him that way.
It's a morbid thought but it's the concept that pain is the motivation to evolve makes Shin Godzilla so impactful. Taking away the pain therefore will take away the need to evolve further.
I think it would be really cool (also really tough to pull off convincingly) to see shin godzilla evolve from a raging moster into a sentient being able to interact with and communicate with humanity. It would be neat to exlore what sort of goals or morality he would approach things with. It would be hard to do because it could easily get preachy or super edgy (ie humanity was the monster all along bla bla).
Imagine in this multiple godzillas form, we could control one of them and fight against the others to prevent them to reach the final form, after evolving and defeating all the bad godzillas, this evolved form let a human named Shinji to decide how humanity will transcend, yes, Shin Godzilla was written and co-directed by Hideaki Anno, the creator of Evangelion
They truly need to make a sequel to this and even introduce Shin Godzilla into the normal Monsterverse. I seriously would love a new Destroy All Monsters movie where Shin Evolved and won after nearly dying earlier in the movie even if it was an alternate ending or something. The Who Will Know scene of him using his Atomic breath is truly the best scene for me in all the Godzilla movies.

I’m a newcomer to the Godzilla fandom, and I just came back from watching Shin Godzilla. Man it was EPIC!!! I definitely want to explore the franchise a little bit :D
From animals in contact with nuclear waste To a depressed lizard that feels pain 24/7 To a titan that can shoot lasers from its mouth tail and spine and produce human hybrids To a fucking god
Godzilla meets John Carpenter’s The Thing. I never saw this movie before but just the thought of asexual reproduction on that scale is honestly a little terrifying, sci fi make believe or not.
According to The Thing film it takes at least a full hour for The Thing to assimilate a human. Godzilla is easily 100x or more the size of a human. Plus godzilla has a nuclear power plant inside him. The Thing is only weak to fire. Shin Godzilla also has a healing factor. The Thing couldn't possibly survive an encounter with Shin Godzilla.
I missed out on Shin Godzilla, and now watching the movie and to know what kind of creature it is, It's just.. Mind Blowing! I've always loved the constant evolution of the Swarm in stacraft, and seeing Shin Godzilla just puts me in awe, I definitely would love to see some of his later forms be adapted, more likely horror
“Shin”, according to the director, means new, true and god. I read an article explaining how the japanese language has many homophones, and shin is no exception.
Unironically I would love to see these ideas brought to life as a sort of what if/alternate universe type series. Like, those 4th and 5th forms could be the basis for a horror monster movie.
I think people should accept for once that the original work told exactly as much of the story as it needed within its limitations. That's a feat! It’s good cinema!

I would LOVE a Shin Godzilla 2 where we get to see the rest of Godzilla’s evolution into the final boss of the universe. Showing the evolutionary line of Goji in the first movie allows all sorts of crazier forms to stem from those blueprints. The 4th form is good, but it could be better, especially if they stuck with the concept of making the perfect organism- humanoid or otherwise. I personally like the reptilian look of Big G, but a fifth form with longer arms, thumbs, maybe a few extra joints for increased mobility (and some freaky movements) and some kind of protective skin or even acidic secretions would be really, really cool. Wild, outlandish, and absolutely absurd, but that’s the whole kaiju genre. Bigger. Better. Stronger. I want to see the concept of Godzilla pushed as far as it can possibly go.
9th form: Shin-Godzilla becomes one with 3 dimensional space-time, attaining universal consciousness 10th form: Shin-Godzilla ascends to higher dimensions. Now a god, he has omnipotence, omnipotence, but still not omniscience. Godzilla being bored and wanting to access all possible knowledge, it goes into a hibernation, it's dreams becoming new realities. These simulations play out, creating new life, and new knowledge, all connecting back to Shin-Godzilla. It now is indistinguishable from Azathoth. This is his final form, before omniscience.

I always thought that the final shot of the movie could represent that it was adapting to evolve into a colony lifeform. No matter how powerful it became, a bunch of humans co-operating efficiently were able to topple it, and it had to adapt to that. Become more like us to cope with us.
Underrated comment.
That's exactly how I interpreted it too. The shot of the humanoids sprouting from the tail was meant to be a "we stopped it just in time" moment.
This would make him the most powerful and yet depressing Goji ever. Can't expect anything less from the man who made Eva

Absolutely. A very freaky creature.
