Nigeria born players might be 4-5 years older than their registered ages. From my 15 years experience working in tier 1 pro soccer club.
That sounds about right. And it makes a lot of sense.
Pippen saying that he wasn’t trying to win a championship for himself but for Barkley is laughable. Anyone with a brain knows he wanted one more than Jordan. Come on!!😂😂
It wouldn’t have changed anything cause it was never a debate who was the bus driver on those bulls championships. It’s totally different than Kobe winning 2 rings after parting ways with Shaq
@@Bonescratcher yall overrate Kobe *waaaaay too much.* Kobe had a top 5 center *and* power forward, as well as a *top 10* small forward(Artest who replaced Ariza the previous season), and a very serviceable Derek Fisher *and* Lamar Odom. He better had won without Shaq.
@@benyah3390 yeah you act like Jordan didn’t have Pippen, Rodman, Steve Kerr (who still holds the all time record for 3 pt % career average). You act like Lebron didn’t have D Wade and Chris Bosh, then Kyrie and love. You act like Duncan didn’t have Robinson, then Manu, Parker and Kawhi. Do you want me to continue? So what’s your point? Most championship teams have a stacked roster.
How is Kobe overrated when he won 2 more rings and 2 FMVPs after leaving Shaq??
@@Bonescratcher I will say Kobe is overrated because he never shot over 50% from the field even once in his career, whereas for example Jordan shot over 50% just about every single year.
No doubt Kobe was a great player-one of the best of all time and I would take him over LeChina for his killer instinct and defense, but he was a poor shooter percentage wise.
Edit:. A poor shooter compared to MJ and Larry Bird and pretty much most of those high-scoring shooters from the 80s and 90s who all shot a higher percentage from the field than Kobe.
@@fitness..moveyoullgetit5832 MJ is the GOAT no doubt. But I still have Kobe in the 5-10 range All time. There is no question he had poor shot selection which is mainly why his percentage is crappy (like Iverson & Melo), but let’s not forget how great of a defender he was. Shaq wouldn’t have won those 3 rings without Kobe and Vice versa. Ultimately any player who wins 5 rings with 2 FMVPs, a regular season MVP, 11 All NBA first teams and 12 All defensive teams belongs in the list of the All time greats and does not fit in the “overrated” category
Past their prime and injuries played a factor
If Phil Jackson was able to trade for him when he took over the lakers I think he would have had a career renaissance. He is probably the best at using the triangle offense to his benefit.
Them old rockets jerseys and that old logo are pure 🔥🔥🔥
Pippen not winning after Houston was not a knock on him. He ran into the Lakers’ Shaq and Kobe. Portland has us until that fourth quarter run and alley oop.
That was all the refs and when i realized it was rigged
Pippen got robbed by the refs in Portland.
Yes it is Pippen choked in the 4th quarter. Kobe and Shaq had won nothing at that point and were swept out of the playoffs by the Jazz and Spurs in 98 & 99.
@@karmaisreal261 of course it was the refs. The nba can't continue casting their "MJ the goat" propaganda on the sheep if Pippen wins without Jordan.
@@benyah3390 The NBA pushed big market LA because viewership plummeted after MJ retired. They did not want small markets Portland & Sacramento to defeat Shaq & Kobe.
I don't call those Rockets teams from 1996/97 to 1998/99 a super team, they were old aging all-stars and slow and had nothing left to give in the playoffs.
Those late 90's Rockets teams were long past their prime after their 93/94 and 94/95 back to back NBA titles.
This was only a Super Team by NAMES ONLY! ALL OF THOSE GUYS WERE PAST THEIR PRIME!!!! Just like the Lakers when they had Malone, Payton and those guys who were Once Again PAST THEIR PRIME!.
The Lakers were a superteam. Payton was a All-Stars the yr before and Malone avg 20-8-5 before they joined the Lakers. Rockets were a big 3. Hakeem was All-NBA, Pippen was All-Def and Barkley avg 16-12-5. The Rockets were in the WCF in 97.
Superteams are more than just names. There's a vast difference between the Warriors and the other so called Superteams. If you ask someone why the term Superteam didn't spread throughout the media until the Warriors they couldn't give you a good reason why. The Warriors had things that no other team had before them. A current championship team, two 3-point shooting champions, a 4 times scoring champ, two MVP caliber players, and bench players who could start for other teams, all in their primes.
They were past their prime as much as Lebron, Kobe, Jordan were past their prime when they were 33.... meaning they were still top players in the league.
@@cubbdacrossfacecrippler The 80s Celtics, Lakers and Sixers with Moses had the talent level of KD Warriors. KD Warriors felt OP because their wasn't really a team as talented as them at the same time, unlike the Celtics, Lakers and Sixers of the 80s who were at their prime/peak at the same time.
@@xxwhatevahxx no they weren’t. All players don’t age the same. They aged much faster.

Those Houston Rockets weren't a "Super Team" due to them trading away their best young players [Sam Cassell and Robert Horry] who were vital contributors to the Rockets two championships, to acquire Charles Barkley. Barkley's bad back was causing him to decline steadily. The NBA moved Barkley to Houston to give him a chance to get a championship and hopefully face Jordan and the Bulls again in the finals. I remember the NBC promos for Rockets games calling them "Charles Barkley and the Houston Rockets. I'm sure that didn't sit well with Olajuwon and Drexler.
Years prior to Barkley joining the Rockets, Barkley had used the "Dream Team" experience in 1992 to be recognized as the NBA's second best player [although he was never better than Olajuwon] and most colorful personality. As a Rocket, Barkley's performance was sporadic. He could still rebound with the best, and sometimes he would erupt with big scoring games. But he was unable to sustain the level of play he demonstrated early in his Phoenix Suns days. Drexler was willing to be No. 2 behind Olajuwon, but being pushed to No. 3 behind Barkley was a problem. After a couple of seasons of playing on Barkely's Rockets, Drexler retired. There was still an icy-ness to their relations years after they retired from the NBA.
The Rockets then threw the big money bag to Scottie Pippen to form another "Big Three." Problem was Olajuwon and Barkley were a year older and Pippen couldn't help them. The Rockets soon found out that Pippen's best basketball was left in Chicago. Despite contributing to six Chicago Bulls championships, Pippen couldn't do much to elevate the Rockets. For him to point to Olajuwon's diminishing ability and Barkley's laziness as the causes for the Rocket's failure to win a championship is just throwing them under the bus. The problem for the Rockets stemmed from their trading their future away to acquire two players who were over-the-hill.
Pippen may be be a hall of famer but he has been shady for a while. Throwing Hakeem under the bus when he himself was a bust in Houston,, just looks bad on him. Jordan said he would have never won those titles without Pippen yet he says he does not feel recognized enough on the last dance, Pippen seems to like blaming others for what he could not do after Jordan left his side.
Pippen wasn't used the same way in Houston as with Chicago. They wanted him to be a catch and shoot guy. His shot attempts went down from 16 to 12 per game. Scoring went from 19.1 to 14.5 a night. Over a third of his shot attempts were 3 pointers. Seems weird that a guy averaging 40 minutes a night wasn't getting the ball.
@@danlower7834 How else could the Rockets use Pippen, given they had Olajuwon and Barkley on the blocks. Hakeem and Charles were also good mid-range scorers. If you can't be a good catch-and-shoot player on that team, then the team made a bad signing.

There were also deals being made behind players backs in that organization. The Rockets took a pay cut out from Charles Barkley, without him knowing, for Scottie Pippen to get to Houston.
U can't do that. Especially not to Barkley.
Not much of a super team considering they were old and injured.
Friday mrn - March 24, 2023.
They were too old, that Houston team wasn't a super team.
Exactly.
Pippin is behind Barkley by a mile in the SF category. Still, Jordan doesn’t have more than 1 or 2 titles w/o him.
The best shot he'd have had was in '97 & '98 against Utah, but that could've went in Utah's favor or a split.
Nonsense. If the Bulls drafted R.Miller instead of Pippen in 87-88 the Bulls would've had a realistic shot at winning 6 or more chips.
Barkley is a PF not a SF like Pip
Barkley was a power forward so that makes no sense. How many titles Jordan would have won depends mostly on who would have played the SF in Pippen’s place. And since we’ll never know…
Jordan may not have any titles without Pippin
Pippen basically admitting he didn't want to be a leader, preferring to take a backing role instead of a leadership role. He left Houston, salting the earth behind him, because Houston wasn't perfect. Instead of inspiring them to do better, he whined and cried about everything. This, despite the fact that Houston brought him in precisely because they thought they were getting a championship experienced leader. Instead, he threw his teammates under the bus because, as we all know, nothing is ever Scottie's fault. After quitting Houston, he searched for a team loaded with so much talent he figured all he had to do was be a figurehead leader and they'd win the title. The team was so loaded that if they lost, he wouldn't get blamed for it. Perfect situation for Mr Passive Aggressive: credit if they win (He won without MJ!) and no blame if they lost. He found what he was looking for but it didn't work because in the 2nd half of Game 7 vs LA, the guy with all the championship experience went ghost just when the team needed his leadership the most. His teammates stumbled and bumbled all over themselves before coughing up a 15 point lead to the inexperienced, upstart Lakers.

As great as Scottie Pippen was, he could never carry a team on his own. When MJ retired the first time, that was Pip’s time to really shine. Yeah he got MVP at the All Star, but the Bulls didn’t get too far. IMO, Pip was a really great role player to MJ. Barkley came into the league to an aging crew of legends, breathed life into the Suns, then became a great with the Rockets during a time when there was monumental competition ahead of him. If you look at the decade of the 90’s who do you knock off for Charles Barkley to win? what year would have been best? I don’t think there ever would have been a year that Barkley could’ve won a championship considering the teams he was on. Scoring 18 pts and 13 rebounds with the first or second highest shooting percentage. Sure. Ok kid
@@Youralwayswhining4367 They needed him to rebound and play strong defense. Karl Malone destroyed him each year in the playoffs. And his insistence of running the offense through him disrupted the strengths of the other 2 stars because he played a much slower pace.
@@sishaq12is that why Barkley came off the bench in 98?
@@sishaq12and because you're clueless, Barkley got hurt im game 4 of the 98 series and didnt play in game 5 smooth brain
That Portland team with pippen should have won it all. But insert a cheating referee...
Yeah that ref that threw the lob to Shaq and forced the blazers to miss multiple shots in a row was crooked
@@Ted_Bell NBA's scripted...
Pippin was total shit without Jordan. During and after his career
The amount of ignorance required to make a shit for brains statement like that is staggering.
