@@outoforder8791 The lack of Plants because Knives stole them is a good reason for them to go back to the "90s space western" aesthetic (or at least something more similar to it), I didn't think of that before 😲now that just increases my hopes that the character designs will look more like those in Trigun Maximum. Don't get me wrong, I liked the designs in this show but I couldn't deny that I got so excited when Vash had his original hairstyle in ep 12. It's also possible that his new red coat would look more similar to the original since it was either burned up due to him falling like a meteor or he left it behind in the wreckage like in the manga. He could even get a new prosthetic arm that transforms into a gun like in the original since it got absorbed into the Angel Arm. Hell, he could also get the shades with the zigzag arms since if you look closely, his purple shades got cracked during the fight. I'm also holding out hope that even Meryl would get her iconic cape since she's using her derringers now. I'm not sure about Wolfwood though, but at the very least I'm hoping he'll call himself a priest in season 2 since in the contract that Conrad gave him in ep 10, he was called a Pastor. But I don't know, I'm just excited for what they'll do in season 2 ♥
I do want to point out on “don’t fill smoke to hide awkward movements.” Because there was a moment that used smoke in a very different way. Not obscuring flaws but using it in way one would utilize smoke in a thriller. When Millions Knives is ascending the staircase at Jenora Rock and cuts up two of the three women, it’s terrifying as you can’t solidly anticipate his actions. That is very good use of smoke.
Trigun Stampede being inspired by Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse- advancing point in the industry of animation- says a lot about the dedication of Orange Studio in its own. You can tell that there was SO much love and hard work was put into this show, I can’t comprehend how some people are disappointed because of the CGI. The studio did everything they could’ve possibly done to make Stampede a genuine masterpiece. I genuinely can’t stress that enough
I find 3D/CGI animation is hated by a lot of western fans, because they don’t want 2D animation to die, so they want to restrict the creative freedom by only wanting Japan to do a specific style. This is just unfair to the artists who want to experiment. Although the original Trigun doesn’t look as good, I think cel animation looks beautiful, even compared to modern anime. It obviously depends on the show, but Akira isn’t the only well animated anime from that period. Side note: I think the best looking CGI from television is Star Wars the Clone Wars, specifically from season 3 onward. Just so much good animation, whether it’s fights, character acting or just beautiful backgrounds. It’s not anime, but who cares?
Great video I liked how you positioned each technique they used throughout the series and how it culminates to the final fight really great transitioning. I did find the “this is impossible” type wording when it came to an anime like this wouldn’t exist in this day and age when Houseki no Kuni was agh was go it’s time in 2017 so Stampede doing something similar came off as unimaginable even if we have precedence. Came from the Hell’s Paradise video which I didn’t like the structure of so I definitely enjoyed watching your thoughts on Stampede a lot more.
Their is no other 3D anime series that have this smooth animation and character expression even polygon picture studio can't make this kind of 3D animation.
hahaah I laughed at the 'this looks horrifying'. great explanation, thank you! i appreciate these insights into how much work went into this anime, because I could tell the studio put their whole heart into it and it's nice to know the technical aspects of how they achieved their vision
98 Trigun and Trigun Stampede are both beautiful in their own ways. I wasn't sure about Tristamp at first, but I'm all for the style now, and I think Studio Orange did so well because they didn't try to make it realistic. They stylized everything and really pushed what CGI can do. That amount of knives still seems like it made the final render stutter a little bit, though. Also Zazie's bugs at one point.
I used to wonder why stiff 3d anime didn't just do what final fantasy did with Advent Children, but Stampede pulled off this style really well. The nuanced facial expressions and small character movements are my favorite. Idk if its just me but I like it when I can still draw the characters in 2d as they appear in the show without it looking awkward. That's usually not something I can do with most 3d animation without much effort on shading so if its done well like this, I appreciate stylized cgi a lot more than the usual pixar-ish stuff.
I really can't wait for the time, where 3D CGI in anime is expected, efficient and most of all perfected. The time where Berserk could get a perfect 3D CGI adaptation of the whole series and it looks fantastic. That time may be decades away, but technology seems to evolve so fast lately, I think we are closer than most might expect.
I don't think cg in anime being good will ever be the norm as long as the anime industry stays like this. Anime is too cheaply made and produced too quickly for cg to turn out good. Technology won't make up for a lack of talent and time, if it did we wouldn't have cg from movies in 2006 looking better than 90% of what comes out these days.
After Land of Lustrous, Beastars and Godzilla: Singular Point, I had zero issues with Orange handling CGI. I was more scared for how they would handle the themes of the story. And i am happy with what we got.
Currently watching Trigun Stampede on Netflix. (Started streaming on Netflix in Hong Kong as of last Friday, 2 days ago) And there are moments where I can't differentiate CGI and 2D animation. It was that good.
3:48 Even though I don't know that much about 3d animation this is what I was thinking about for the longest time that could be applied to attack on titans's 3d models, I was thinking if it was possible to make different models to match what a 2d drawing would look like in a specific angle making it stick out less than what the base model would look like in the same angle and it seems like the techniques used here makes that a reality but also the process more feasible and possibly be utilised in the future by other studios like mappa in something like a future dorehedoro season 2
The CGI did a wonderful job tbh. After watching it, I craved for more that I binge watched the original anime just so I can see more of it. I also don't understand why people can't appreciate it. It's truly impressive. His fight with Knives mademe crave for a Trigun Stampede gameplay. It's just sooo good.

I really really like it. and i just want to say this! I really like how you deliver your thoughts and opinions in this video! i really appreciate it! hope, your channel gets bigger one day!
By comparison, the stunningly beautiful 2D film Redline took the Madhouse 7 years to produce, even with its budgets and the number of talented animators. So drawing a very beautiful 2d series can take as much time as making it in 3d with current technology
That took longer, and I don't think the two are fair to compare at all. 7 years for a less than 2 hour movie vs 5 years for an entire series. The end results speak for itself
I think the consistent use of it allows viewers to stay immersed because there's no contrasting artstyles or art elements competing for attention and this adds quality. I want to think on Made in Abyss as an example; even if they did their best to make the artstyle seamless, the ever so slight differences made the 3D really stand out from the 2D (I am totally in favor of using CGI for complex animation, I am merely giving an example). Our brains can get used to the artstyle and focus on the other elements of the show as a whole to enjoy.
trigun stampede slapped hard. i showed my mom a 7 minutes out of context video and she likes it. she watched the og series. if she likes it, then it passes the code man. IT'S OKAY
This show is easily the best looking cgi anime out there right now but i think guilty gear strive tops trigun in replicating the look and feel of traditional 2d anime perfectly.
The recent DS ep made me realize how hard it actually is to combine the 2D and 3D. What actually is the difference bw the ways it is done in for ex CSM and AOT that makes it stand out mich less. (Also is it just me or the animation of this ep felt very stiff and...limited? By DS standards)
Yeah, I think there's a big diifferennce in how ufotable handles CGI elements as compared to a studio like MAPPA. Whereas MAPPA goes for maximum integration with the 2d elements, Ufotable often seems to lean towards pseudo realism, and don't really try to blend them in from a modeling and texture standpoint.
Not a reboot btw. Revisioning the manga, not a reboot of the 98 anime. Also A+ the CGI is damn amazing in Stampede. If you watched it in one language, watch it in another, and behold the increased facial articulation when you can get computer help in changing the movement of the mouths for the language in question.

I forgot the show was CGI pretty much the entire time I was watching, but I did not like the amount of tracking shots in the final scene 😭 feeling like it was a video game was kinda jarring while the rest of the show was shot and animated using the same conventions as 2D anime. Certain styles and aspects of 2D anime exist because of the medium’s limitations and general nature of being 2D, but the same limitations don’t exist with CG. Limitations in general force creatives to do things in ways they otherwise would not have thought of, offering new perspectives and fostering unique styles and approaches. Just because complicated tracking shots are very difficult and rare to see a lot of in 2D anime, doesn’t mean that more of it will make it better. 2D anime finds that balance naturally because of its limitations, and Trigun stampede was able to do the same thing as well as having its own unique techniques and strengths you can’t find in 2D, but sometimes less is more ya know. We learned that higher frame rates do NOT make animation look better, that variation is key, that less is more, and Trigun stampede really really excelled in this…I just hope to see fight scenes like the final one done a little bit less like a video game quick time event scene 😭

It's the gatekeeping thought of, when something is CGI it is automatically bad. It also tells me that most of these people do not understand how animation actually work and it is truly saddening to see.. Glad Trigun Stampede is getting the love it deserves because you can tell there was so much love and effort put into this. both love for the classic anime style aswell as what the future CGI can provide!
But I don't know, I'm just excited for what they'll do in season 2 ♥
probably watched it on the lowest resolution
I do want to point out on “don’t fill smoke to hide awkward movements.” Because there was a moment that used smoke in a very different way. Not obscuring flaws but using it in way one would utilize smoke in a thriller. When Millions Knives is ascending the staircase at Jenora Rock and cuts up two of the three women, it’s terrifying as you can’t solidly anticipate his actions. That is very good use of smoke.
probably one of the best CG projects I watched. great video as always ❤
Agreed with the title! Studio Orange's implementation of CGI in their works is genuinely masterful.
I can't look at this and not be amazed on how good it looks! I'm personally all for the future of CG anime because of all the advantages 3D has!
Came from the Hell’s Paradise video which I didn’t like the structure of so I definitely enjoyed watching your thoughts on Stampede a lot more.
i will defend trigun stampede til the day i die. ITS SO GOOD. like when im watching it i feel like im watching a videogame cutscene i love it
Their is no other 3D anime series that have this smooth animation and character expression even polygon picture studio can't make this kind of 3D animation.
I agree with everything you said Trigun stampedes cgi animation is truly amazing and impressive
hahaah I laughed at the 'this looks horrifying'. great explanation, thank you! i appreciate these insights into how much work went into this anime, because I could tell the studio put their whole heart into it and it's nice to know the technical aspects of how they achieved their vision
The action sequences were amazing, so pleasing to look at
98 Trigun and Trigun Stampede are both beautiful in their own ways.
One of the most beautiful shows I've seen. The characters music and visuals were outstanding
It's just sooo good.
the anime community needs more people like you. i still sometimes see people saying that aot s3 eren vs reiner slideshow is better than the dynamic and very well animated cgi fight in s4p2
I will take the OG over this every time, but they did a great job for CGI.
8:49 I can confirm for you that it was not the 2nd coming of Akira.
im not a big fan of cgi anime but tristamp really changed everything for me i love this series so much (including the og anime and manga) i want whatever the staff of studio orange smoked bro. also thank you for making this video!! :)
once I saw Vash putting that guy on his ass in episode 1 I was SOLD
Personally, I love that they didn't used cel shading lining that causes the most issues, especially at a distance when in become more prominent than the actual model
3:31 yuji itadori is that you?
Thanks for talking about this anime, it had to many backlash cause its a remake, but to me it was truly a groundbreaking anime and i can't wait for the next season
i would say this, if i would ever watched an anime with gun involved, this is what i exactly wanted to watch. this is the trigun that i have been wishing and wanting to watch 20 years ago. and i personally think this is what the best thing to be done to portray the show with such an impressive story line, characters, and obviously the gun action scene. this is just a wholesome amazing anime show! I really really like it.
and i just want to say this! I really like how you deliver your thoughts and opinions in this video! i really appreciate it! hope, your channel gets bigger one day!
"BUT THEY SHOILD HAVE TAKEN 300 MORE YEARS TO HAND DRAW THSN CGI...."
Very beautifully explained, I was planning to watch this , now after the seeing your video I might watch it very soon. Keep the hardwork going bhai..👌
I came to know this anime because I fell in love with the visual, and it was one of the best 3d anime out there
Man watching thia video makes me want you to make a video on 86, it has a very good cg for the mechs and also amazing directing
good video. a lot of people dont get the difference between an anime studio using CGI to replicate 2D animation and a CGI stylized anime
I agree with your mind set about CGI used in anime
I think the consistent use of it allows viewers to stay immersed because there's no contrasting artstyles or art elements competing for attention and this adds quality.
I want to think on Made in Abyss as an example; even if they did their best to make the artstyle seamless, the ever so slight differences made the 3D really stand out from the 2D (I am totally in favor of using CGI for complex animation, I am merely giving an example). Our brains can get used to the artstyle and focus on the other elements of the show as a whole to enjoy.
The animation is truly spectacular. And you didn't even get to the subanimation units who animated wolfwoods backstory
The new Vinland episode was fire
trigun stampede slapped hard. i showed my mom a 7 minutes out of context video and she likes it. she watched the og series. if she likes it, then it passes the code man. IT'S OKAY
Thanks for making this video! Been wanting this one.
The cgi was so good people instead complain about the hairstyle change
Now the only thing left to capture the anime A E S T H E T I C we need to replicate kannada style animation
Because (imo) flow school animation feels more americanized than classic kannada style animation
@@Sakaiproject12 oo I'll check it out and hopefully it's even somewhat like arc system works' work(no pun intended) on dragon ball fighterz
Orange popped off W studio!
Holy cinema that final episode was PEAK. Cant wait for S2!
Eva rebuild had some great CG can't get enough of it
Wait, you mean to say there are people that don't like Stampede??? That's really embarrassing for them.
Trigun stampede fight scenes can single handedly rival the best ufotable fight scenes there are
Such a good analysis! I love Trigun Stampede and the style is a huge part of that!
i really love d4dj anime cgi
Can't wait for Twitter animation "experts" to shit on it because it's CGI
This show is easily the best looking cgi anime out there right now but i think guilty gear strive tops trigun in replicating the look and feel of traditional 2d anime perfectly.
There's a great video on how Arcsys used a lot of the same technics mentioned here to create Xrd.
man i just image what wangan midnight whould look with this level of cgi..... maaan it whould be a masterpiece
And now we got a trailer for Pluto with brilliant CGI
It has the best CGI animation in all 3d anime
This pice of media is just damn incredible! I fell instantly in love with the show!!!
Such a well made analysis!
First Slam Dunk has entered the chat
While we're on the subject of CGI anime, I can't wait to see your review on The First Slam Dunk, and compared it to the other CGI animes.
The OG ainme is unmatched
Visually Wise is much more infenior tho. Maybe not The direction
@@A1000-b9s Idk mayn, that opening bar scene was crazy, but actually cannot judge cuz I have not seen the newer, I openly admit I'm speaking out of pure bias (well warranted bias, but bias never the less(
@@MelloCello7 well i can confirm is much infenior Animation Wise definitely or compositing Wise. The direction is What these two can have competition with each other
@@A1000-b9s well inferiority is subject to the standards of greatness thereof, and while I appreciate your take, that standard of greatness varies vastly from person to person
@@MelloCello7 fair but some things are not Subjective
From what I heard people get mad cuz the original design is iconic. That's it, never heard them mention the CGI (I'm mostly referring to my sibling)
Great job man.
This studio could animate berserk
We need s2 with milly:) they mentioned her and now they have to give us more qwq
Everytime I see someone try and say that stampedes CGI looks bad I want to scream cause huh??????? (doesn't help that everytime I see that complaint its by someone saying the 1998 anime was better so they just sound whiney and like a child throwing a tantrum)
Studio Orange and I G production should team up to make an anime , they have mastered 3D in my opinion !
Great vid as always, would really be amazing to see your opinion on the Kizumonogatari movies
Studio orange on top of the 3d anime game
Chief, on the topic of CGI, give the new Dragon Ball movie a go, it's stellar animation.
Yep it had beautiful CGI
Can you make a video on dorohedoro as well as in my opinion it also looks really good ಠ◡ಠ
You should take a look at heavenly delusion
He mentioned that he's watching almost all the seasonal anime so he will probably get around to making a video on that.
@@Not_DIO_1 except for G-Witch which is the best sequel this season
@@thomasffrench3639 ok. I disagree, but that's fine. It's definitely top 2, but it's second to Demon Slayer in terms of visuals and a bit less fun to watch imo. Also if Vinland pt2 counts then that's easily #1!
@@doodlegame8704 that’s completely fair
Ngl, I'm one of those who are not a big fan of CGI used primarily for anime... at all. However I do acknowledge the hardwork put into this production.
This did have the best cgi I’ve seen in a while I still prefer the og Trigun anime tho as a whole but part 2 will most likely b what I want from Trigun
Oh god this is truly incredible. But ah, best cgi in all of anime? Watch Lupin III: The First 😭(I understand it's not about photorealism at all but even taken within their separate contexts, Lupin The First might have one of the most beautiful uses of cgi ever)
Interesting analysis. By the way, speaking of CGI, would you mind if I recommend you an anime Kamikatsu for some lolz. You will definitely find some pure art stuff there :]
I'm already watching it lmao, I pretty much watch every seasonal out there...
@@ProbablyPretentious i wonder what are your thoughts on that anime 👀
Lmao it's just good ol' gag fun, I love it

What do you think about Vercreek?
He's him. Literally.
You had me until you said you didn't watch the original. I hope Stampede gets you into the the second coming of Akira. Love & Peace
شكرا 🌹 على المجهود
Depends on how good the CGI is
If it's like berserk
Then i would want to jump off the 3rd floor of the nearest building i can find,
But if it's like the one from stampede
Then yes
Big yes
I have only seen literally 0:00.1 of this video, Infact all I herd you say was CGI, Imma save time and tell you the moral of the story to your own video, Thank the wonderful people at Arksys works and guilty gear Xrd because if it wasn't for that no one in the cgi business wouldn't even know where to BEGIN, Bless daisuke and his vision.
Is this camera-o-matic thing available to the public?
Now it will be dethroned by Leviathan( studio orange's next project) 😁😁😁😁
