Thank you all.
The problem with judo is the rules. The rules are destroying the essence of judo. Judo is beautiful and complete. And there are still people who say that judo doesn't work without the dogi. Congratulations Sensei Chadi for the excellent work you do here on your channel in favor of judo. God bless you.
Well it does work without the dogi but it sure as shit does not work as well, and when you try to improve nogi judo it looks a lot like grecco.
@@vids595So what it's more complete than Greco. Not to mention Jason Morris dominated wrestling with no gi judo throws
Good to see a video celebrating Judo again. I feel like it's been a lot of complaining about the Olympics lately and I'm here for the positivity. Thanks!
The Olympics are supposed to be safe and promote sports to the world. Ruined tkd or karate. And took all submissions out of wrestling. It’s a combat sport and the Olympics always water it down to make things seem safe & fun, and promotable like that
Olympic Judo yesterday was sucks. Old School.is better
Awesome as always Chadi. That Tai Otoshi was nuts
I thought the ground catch wrestling is similar to Judo in that you can either submit them or just pin them.
Always the best judo content
I remember this event, It was great. Daisuke Nakamura is primarily a submission/shoot wrestler. However he was a member of the Haleo Dream Team not the Judo Dream Team.
Chadi, Your book is outstanding.
I got it in the mail last week and thoroughly enjoyed it.
My student gifted it to me and mailed me a copy.
@@SoldierDrew thank you so much brother for your support over the years
Chadi, genuinely love your channel, BUT…
I often disagree with the judo vs the rest polemic. Like here: you neglect to mention that all of Team Judo here are experienced MMA fighters… In Japan, as well as anywhere, a massive part of MMA training is basic nogi BJJ (as distinct from judo newaza).
Also your “no gi makes no difference to effectiveness of judo in grappling” is clearly untrue. Freestyle wrestling is WAY more direct and effective under these conditions…. Judo has its moments but no comparison in nogi.
For a no-gi tournament there is no replacement to no-gi training. Even if you did Kosen Judo which focuses more on the ground game, gi would still be too much of your game. But technically speaking, how much of no-gi JJ is original? Because I would opine that JJ with a gi is Judo ne-waza through and through.
Ordered your book. I enjoyed it a lot.
It is interesting to look at the history - and mythology - of the origins of martial arts.
Before 2006 jiujitsu and judo were taught at the same time......
Interesting Chadi. However, Jiu Jitsu have more tools in their belt to deal with grappling for example Finger locks and joints manipulation. Minus kicking and punching would be a great video to see.
Great skill of several different grappling disciplines at show here. I dug the nogi ashi guruma particularly, including the transition to ne waza without rolling over the opponent.
I'm sorry but to say that its not about the clothing is just bullshit. Yes judo can be adapted for nogi, and grips are not the fundamental concept that makes judo work, but it is MUCH less of a threat without the dogi.
Shut the hell up
I enjoyed watching that team event...I'd like to see it again.
There was also catch and bjj
Also people tend to only think about Japanese Judo , there are so many other styles, each country has its oy style and expression.
Thank you for posting this. Do you think this will happen again?
Quintet was awesome.
Great video. I just wish you were just a little more informed about some of the other styles you talk about. Like your reference to Catch and pinning. I was shocked you said what you said about Catch not emphasizing pinning as much. Historically, that is so incorrect. Even in modern times. That's Catch and BJJ biggest difference. Catch is/was largely emphatic about pinning. And Sakuraba appearing passive? He's over 50 years old. LOL. Maybe the most passive person in the history of grappling and MMA is Ishi. Just watch his matches. Other than that. Very good.
I never said that. I talked about judo being a pinning art. I never said catch didn’t emphasize pins.
@@Chadi You said is BJJ and Catch the pin is just the beginning. In catch the pin was the end of the match. Some think the influence of the Judokas migrating to England made the catchwrestlers emphasis submissions more. Nonetheless. I stand corrected by my misinterpretation.
It wasn't the judokas that made catch wrestling emphasis submissions. But the Japanese jujitsu guys. Like Yukio Tani. Although he later switched to teaching judo. But in 1940s amateur wrestling ( freestyle wrestling and folkstyle wrestling came from catch) you could do a double wrist lock to turn opponent around for a PIN.
@@Chadi I believe he is talking about this part of the video: ruclips.net/video/DpRhxzMWnA0/видео.html
You might get a judo throw in nogi, but basic wrestling is still superior to it. Easier to learn, easier to use etc. That is why it is so rarely seen outside of judo. Pinning is very much a thing both in BJJ and wrestling - it is just more realistic and in BJJ it doesn't score anything. Judokas tend to have really shitty guards and it really shows in here.
Wtf no gi judo is a big thing in bjj. Pixley broke meragelis shoulder with a no gi Hari goshi. Lmao wtf you even talking about
@@dhimankalita1690 Wrestling is king in nogi and judo is pretty much non existing. Would like to see any judo throw done to the likes of N-Rod.
It's extremely small and getting smaller still.
@@JoriMikke78 every bjj plsyer learns no gi judo . What do you mean by non existent? You're delusional. Tell nicky rod to join a judo competition if he wants to be thrown lmao
@@JoriMikke78 You seem confused
@@dhimankalita1690pixley is a ncaa wrestler sure he used a judo move but wrestling without the gi is 10x better than nogi judo

改めて。
柔道の投げは凄い。
しかし、それでも負けないキャッチレスリングの寝技も凄い。
catch wrestling learned a lot of their newaza submissions from judo. They are in complete denial.
3/5 Team Judo members have extensive training in submission grappling/mma. One might wonder how they would have done otherwise. Also lost in the fist of two rounds 2 to 0. Look at the list of who won each event, it's all bjj teams who have integrated western wrestling.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quintet_(grappling)
That's not to say that judo is inferior but I believe the way is is most commonly practiced, with little time without the dogi and less focus on newaza is a weakness. Conversely most bjj gyms do not spend enough time on nagawaza. This is in part because western wrestling expertise is more common in the USA (which has driven the new synthesis of grappling) but also because the ratio of difficulty of skills mastery : effectiveness is higher for wrestling than judo. Just my opinion of course and I'm not an expert like Chadi (who I respect) but I also feel that Chadi has a strong bias.
I am a judoka and agree that it's common sense: without training in no-gi, you won't excel in it. Traditional judoka practicing in a judo dojo will not develop strong no-gi skills compared to wrestlers. While judoka with a solid background can adapt their skills to no-gi, they must train seriously in a no-gi environment. Practicing only in a traditional judo dojo with a gi does not naturally lead to proficiency in no-gi; it's a fundamentally different game.
Judo, grappling and the other SPORT MARTIAL ARTS,is so,,,,boring to watch,,,judo looks like two guys grabbing each others clothing and trying to see who can trip who first,,,I remember a time in highschool when a guy who was on the judo wanted to fight me,
( over a girl of course ),, but I remember him facing me and me telling him that I didnt want to fight,,he still wanted to,,,anyways
Were standing there two 175 lb highschool students,he lunged at me grabbed my arm and twisted his body sideways to obviously flip me over his shoulder,,I was clearly stronger then him so when he began moving,SO DID I...so when he twisted his body to flip me and trip me,I tackled him ,,we were on the ground wrestling, till I punched him, twice,,he said alright, alright, alright,,, done ,skirmish over....point is,,,,I was inexperienced In fighting, but he had training!! He was on a team of judo athletes!! And his style was ineffective
Judo only works against, weaker,dumb,scared,people..or on another judo person, because basically they're thinking the same way...judo.....not an effect style in real world situations, it's a sport.
Judo doesn't have a ground system 😂😂😂, where do you think BJJ came from? BJJ=Basically Just Judo.
Also anyone who day Judo doesn't work without a GI doesn't understand Judo
Catch wrestling + judo newaza= Bjj
