To be honest, I believe Subaru had a great friendship with Rem and even more chemistry than Emilia as a love interest, but the most important part for me was that after all the painful progress he had made with all the characters (including Rem), suddenly it's all gone, and that makes me really frustrated. It's like the end of Steins;Gate Zero where *SPOILERS* all the character development with characters like Maho Hiyajo is lost when Rintaro goes back in time. I half exptected the Steins;Gate timeline to be a merger of the best of the α and β timelines, not a crappy version of α. All in all, sorry for the long comment, but it really pisses me off when there is such a great character development, and all of that is lost when a certain character dies off (or in this case looses all her memories and everyone else's memories of her)! Oh well, that's on par with the "suffering" theme of Rem:zero. 😂😂 In any case, I enjoyed Season 2 and now I'm looking forward for Season 3, hopefully everything goes great in the next seasons. (Spoilers below this) Here’s an extremely simplified summery of what happens to Rem. I’m skipping A LOT of context here. In Arc 7 (maybe season 4, likely season 5). Subaru wakes up in field after being blown off the Pleiades Watch Tower (last chapter of Arc 6). He finds Rem, who opens her eyes for the first time in over a year. Take in mind Rem’s memories and existence were eaten. She has no idea who Subaru is, let alone herself. Subaru also finds Louis (one of three Sin Archbishops of Gluttony) next to him. She seems to have lost all of her memories too, and has the mentality of a toddler. In the previous arc, Louis has significantly hurt and traumatized Subaru, so it’s natural for him to hate her. He talks out loud about abandoning Louis and getting back home with Rem. From the amnestic Rem’s perspective, this random, eerie-scented man is being hostile towards a little girl. Before that, he was crying and hugging her, happy beyond words. Creeped out, Rem thinks that this guy is going to hurt this little girl, so she does what she sees fit. She strangles Subaru almost to the point of death and runs off with Louis. I’ll skip a lot of what happens, but Rem almost kills Subaru (who does die from other things) a time or two before calming to listen to him. Idk why you needed a summary for this but alright and spoilers, so if you didnt know rems love for subaru in season 1 was a sickness, she calls it one in a side story and that sickness was transfered from ram to subaru because of what happened in arc 2 but now in arc 7 she is free of that sickness and is a looooooooot more similar to ram but it is sad that she heartbreaks subaru but instead of the normal rem that is the biggest simp in the show if we got amnesiatic rem it would be a lot more interesting for the story, I don't dislike rem she is cool but if the amnesiatic state makes her character go somewhere because she only focused on ram and subaru and now she isnt locked but that chain. I hope she gets her memories back but and she learns to love subaru in a normal way and get over that sickness that she has had.
