they didnt saw the extend of the enemy army, because they were out of sign of the commander AND they were not able to form up enough ranks in a short amount of time, because they didnt expected an attack in front of minas tirith and were commiting forces to the siege. in the book they were not even slightly defended from such an attack, because the whole field is secured by a wall with rare secured gates. the rohirim were able to get past the first defenses from the army with the support of some hermits, but the whole part got cut out from the film, like the whole "gondorians rushed out of the city to support the attack" and "gondorian vassal army together with aragon" with the dead army. in the book the gondorian forces were not able to bring all soldiers to minas tirith because of the pirates and were gathering around aragon and the army of the dead. they supported aragon after the fight as the new king.
Theoden and his vanguard literally was blessed by the Valar of the hunt at the moment, at least that was heavily implied in the books. The power of a Valar smashed into that orc army.
Omfg guys. It's because they were backwards. They had already advanced on Minas Tirith. That would have put pikes and archers facing the other way. Then the Rohirrim popped up behind them, so they had to swap positions.
Theory: Gothmog is a reincarnated Azog. It's why his facial template is contorted like this. Both have significantly pale skin for an orc and similar attitude. He was a last solution of Mordor, that's why he appears so late and has such high position in power already.

When you see a compilation with only the orcs, you root for them when they get killed. But when you watch the whole movie you root for the good guys, since you also see the bad things the uruks did.
As Sauron gets stronger, so does the Witch King. Keep in mind that he’s been wreaking havoc with Angmar while Sauron was recovering and destroyed multiple kingdoms before it collapsed. He isn’t exactly a pushover.
Sauron’s army was very inclusive, ahead of its time, allowing disabled members chances at leadership
Where others would see weakness in defeat, Sauron saw the wisdom that comes after surviving for another day.

They had shitty pikes lol
they didnt saw the extend of the enemy army, because they were out of sign of the commander AND they were not able to form up enough ranks in a short amount of time, because they didnt expected an attack in front of minas tirith and were commiting forces to the siege.
in the book they were not even slightly defended from such an attack, because the whole field is secured by a wall with rare secured gates. the rohirim were able to get past the first defenses from the army with the support of some hermits, but the whole part got cut out from the film, like the whole "gondorians rushed out of the city to support the attack" and "gondorian vassal army together with aragon" with the dead army. in the book the gondorian forces were not able to bring all soldiers to minas tirith because of the pirates and were gathering around aragon and the army of the dead. they supported aragon after the fight as the new king.
I just love the random orc's face at 4:04. I want a plushie of him now.
Theory:
Gothmog is a reincarnated Azog. It's why his facial template is contorted like this. Both have significantly pale skin for an orc and similar attitude. He was a last solution of Mordor, that's why he appears so late and has such high position in power already.
WTF stupidest theory on LOTR ever.Have you even read the Books!?!?!??????
Gothmog is definitely a WarChief Orc!
3:41 the horn heard round the world
No one going to acknowledge that orc archer's perfect standing shot on a moving boat, hitting a target through a window, on the first shot.
0:31 when you don plate armor made of plastic
Gothmog is actually the name of the most powerful balrog ever. He was the lord of the balrogs. It's like naming a chihuahua after Vulcan.
What of the wizard?
Wraith: I. WILL. BREAK. HIM.
Easily my favorite line in life.

Murgash: "The door won't give. It's too strong!"
Gothmog: [in anger] "Get back there and SMASH it down!!!"
Murgash: "But nothing can breach it?!"
Gothmog: "Grond will breach it. Bring up the wolf's head!"
It's great that Sloth got another role.
omg I was disappointed when I looked in the comment and didn't see a sloth reference xD
Fun Fact: Gothmog was inspired by Harvey Weinstein. Peter Jackson and Weinstein didn't get along to say the least, so he modelled one of the orcs after him. In hind sight, the comparison isn't too far off.
It's a shame we didn't get the Time of Orcs, it would have been a golden age of heavy metal and handicapped civil rights.
I think what I most like about him is his oxbridge lisp...
I like how he actually puts up a fight in the extended version, the Witcher King went out easier than him. In the theatre release they just make it out like he died in the charge.
0:32 guy wearing a full plate armor gets literally one shot by an arrow
4:21 lord voldemort?
everyone gotta start somewhere
From marksman to mage
Gothmog’s head looks like a brain and he is the highest ranking orc in the Mordor army. I guess you could say he’s the brains of the operation
When you see a compilation with only the orcs, you root for them when they get killed. But when you watch the whole movie you root for the good guys, since you also see the bad things the uruks did.
Excuse me?! Bad things the uruks did? We got slain!!!
These commanders all demonstrate the trait of never underestimating the enemy.
I love this guy! When I found out his name I squealed with joy!
4:02 "Pikes in front. Archers behind." "Ooooouaaarg" I felt that.
1:28 gosh right through his manflesh
Classic.
I'm thinking of starting a fan club for him
When I saw this movie when it first came out in theaters, I was so pissed that he didn't get an onscreen death.
You know he's badass when he shares the same name as the legendary balrog!
"release the prisoners" Is missing
2:46 The hobbit who threw that rock must have really went to town on the ent draught …
2:50 the rock shape shifting was impressive. It grew
It seems they threw a sheep into his vat while he was developing
.....
Bitch
01:28 Honestly, that was far pretty kind from him, considering he is an Orc
I care about people...

In the words of NF “How could you leave us? Why would you leave us?”
RIP Gothmog
-What about the wizard?
-I will break him
Me- Yeah, right! Good luck with that:-) Gandalf killed a Balrog, he can take you down too, buddy:P😂😂😂
What about Gadget?
I will break him!
@@mushroomhead3619 who's Gadget? :-)
the grey warlock didn't kill udaumno, it was just scripted for the audience after the great defiler's tolkien's pamphlet.
As Sauron gets stronger, so does the Witch King. Keep in mind that he’s been wreaking havoc with Angmar while Sauron was recovering and destroyed multiple kingdoms before it collapsed. He isn’t exactly a pushover.
Amanda Eklund Well you will break you
Me and my family just called him meatloaf, never knew he had an actual name lol.
A good leader commands his people. A great leader elevates them, and bring out their very best.
GOTHMOG 2024
3:59: "Pikes in front. Archers behind."
4:08:
I was just about to comment that too XD
they were just a little confused lol
Gothmog: Litterly cant fucking walk
Sauron: I see a true leader
He sure can ride well though that and he comes across as very brave.
He probably did several battles so he got wounds, scars and injuries. and being a good leader is more than just being a good soldier
Send forth all legions. Do not stop the attack until the city has been taken. Slay all!! Epic quote!!
