    Been flying INAV for about 4 years, BF for about 6 years. BF for racing and all around flying, INAV for LR and setting up missions. Nice to have a choice but it would be great to have a larger number of Fc’s for INAV QUADS. My favorite features are: waypoints/missions and auto land

      I've been looking into an inav build. waypoint missions and position hold are things im interested in. that first position hold didnt really impress me though. i was thinking i would be able to use to position a camera at a specific point or somthing, doesnt seem like it really works like that, seemed to really wobble around while it "held"

    Most excellent video. I really like how you have multiple views of what you're explaining e.g. you show the configurator and the model at the same time. I have almost the same setup as you. Per Infineon Technologies (maker of DPS310 barometer that is installed on the Matek F722 SE flight controller): "DPS310 is not light sensitive. However the foam can help to remove the air turbulences, dynamic pressure and keep static pressure only which count for altitude metering."

    Unfortunately I still think inav has a ways to go especially with regards to poshold and its RTH feature. It does work but its funky to say the least. I've had my quad out over 2 miles and hit RTH and the quad started banking left and right and back and forth like it was drunk. I let it do its things which apparently its Adjusting according to my osd warnings data. After a 30 tense seconds the quad did start it's way back to the home point but sideways and it was zig zagging all the way back. After it hit the home point it just stop and started doing the banking thing again for a few seconds then it just sat there! I had to take over a d land it. Lol. Now weird thing is I've had this RTH work flawlessly and poshold work flawlessly before and it just seems the processing in inav get hung up from time to time and when that happens weird flight behavior takes place. Last flight I took on the latest Inav 3.0.2 my 6 inch Badger after hitting RTH about a mile out just disarmed and fell to the ground! I've since grounded it and thinking I'll try Arducopter again since I've had arducopter on a 5 inch a few years back that worked really well or I may just stick with emuflight since my 5 inch Roma L5 runs that and flies great and GPS rescue imo is really all you need on quads like this.
    Now Inav on fixedwing is another story! Inav works flawlessly on the 5 planes and wings I'm using it on and even running old 2.6 firmware on a couple that's been rock solid. It just feels like inav devs are geared more towards fixedwing now days since they have that pretty much locked down and working really well, just don't think they have this whole quad stuff worked out yet or they just get it to work as good as they can and say deal with it. Lol.

    Awesome video! So glad you put this together. One quick question, would the PID gains, Rates & Expo, Filters, and mechanic values be similar on a 5 inch quad?

    • @TMacFPV
      @TMacFPV  3 года назад +1

      PID gains can be copied over from Betaflight PIDs. I 've got a complete Playlist on how to tune PIDs using Betaflight (and therefore the same with iNav) I'll provide you the link to. ruclips.net/p/PLKAiYAaTdvmoXyDzrPWj9-sxv4m1GNKCT Although it says for "Micro FPV Drone Tuning" it applies to all sizes for quads. Specifically, take a look at the downloadable Tuning Guide. It will help. iNav filters are not the same as Betaflight and will be specific to your quad (every quad is different). Rates and expo are a personal preference and should not be copied from someone else. Just try different values and see what feels best for you. Here's a video on Rates ruclips.net/video/52vR7Nt_t2c/видео.html

    Hi, Tmac. Good night. My name is Itajaí, from Rio de Janeiro/BR. I'd like to ask a favor, if possible. I mounted a drone racer with the FC Matek f722-se, updated to version 4.1 and configured in Inav Configurator 4.1. My radiotransmitter is an AT9S Radiolink and the receiver is an R9DS Radiolink. The configuration is all right, checked several times. But, when trying to save the configuration of channels 1, 2, 3 and 4 on the tab receiver(1000-2000), via CLI, they stopped working, even on the radio. I can't figure out what's wrong with the board.Can you help me with this? I leave here, my thanks.

    Great videos T-Mac ! Coming from Betaflight but not really wanting to be a full-on racer (but will want some freestyle capabilities), decided its useful to have position hold /return to home and other capabilities other firmwares offer. I can see that Ardupilot and iNav have these extra features so I am between the two. Knowing that iNav requires the extra sensors, does that make it a better choice for these modes?

    • @TMacFPV
      @TMacFPV  2 года назад +1

      Hey Georgio's! Here's my take on all 3 firmware. Best manual flight (Acro Mode) firmware is Betaflight. Only GPS assisted function Betaflight has is GPS Rescue. Best Autonomous flight firmware is ArduPilot. Been around longer, most GPS assisted functions, etc. A little more difficult to setup & tune for manual (non GPS assisted flight modes). My ArduPilot Playlist is here ArduPilot & Arducopter: ruclips.net/p/PLKAiYAaTdvmr0cz6tfXCZPBRUUCB8nSXx . iNav firmware, in my opinion, is somewhere between Betaflight & Arducopter. Not as good as Betaflight for Manual/Acro Mode and not as good as Arducopter in Autonomous flight modes. Does "OK" with both types of flight modes

      Hey Dale! I'm not awatre of an iNav OSD element that displays this value on your OSD, however, you can always recommend it as a feature on the github site for a future release github.com/iNavFlight/inav . To see what PID profile you're on, while looking in goggles get into OSD menu system by holding left stick center - left and right stick center-up. Then use right stick to navigate into PID Tuning. Here, you'll see what PID Profile you're currently on and can change it here also.
