Sometimes, I wish there were a "food bus" that would transport SG travelers to Malaysia so they could spend the entire day eating and returning in the evening. I'll probably take that bus every weekend. 🤣

Both Singapore and Malaysia are unique nations with their own cultures, histories, and strengths. It's important to respect and appreciate the differences between them, rather than trying to rank them or compare them in an hierarchical manner. While there may be certain areas where one country may have more advanced infrastructure, higher levels of development, or better food, it's important to recognize that these are few aspects of what makes one country great.
Ultimately, both Singapore and Malaysia have much to offer and are equally deserving of respect and appreciation.

This is your to eat list in KL:
Malay food - ikan patin tempoyak, pari Asam pedas, nasi kerabu, nasi Ayam kunyit, mee jawa, Ramly burger; Chinese food - Yong tau foo (Jalan Ipoh), Hokkien mee (Chinatown), claypot chicken (Chinatown), hainanese chicken, Hakka mee with Char siew (toast and roast PJ); Indian food - banana leaf rice (Kanna PJ), Mozzarella cheese naan, sup ekor mamak; desserts - durian cendol, sirap bandung, Sangkaya coconut ice-cream.
Also, you need to try Family Mart in Malaysia, it's another level of innovation. A must try: Satay oden, tomyam oden, garlic mayo onigiri, mala chicken onigiri, and the weird sotofu ice cream flavours they served.

Ps: the prawn paste you have to mix it well with the asam laksa soup. Similar to the sambal given to nyonya laksa. Make sure to mix it well

Anyone that says S’pore food is better than M’sian or vice versa is going around with blinkers. The absolute best part of living in this part of the world is the amazing ease of access to the endless variety of eye-catching, aroma rich, mouth-watering and delicious foods. From the most basic and simple Roti, Nasi Lemak, or noodle dishes to the more grander and elaborate preparations, each have a place in satisfying our appetite.
Videos like this take us on a whirlwind tour to places that we individually will not have the time or opportunity(I now live in Canada)to personally visit. Thanks to Ghib and the many other RUclipsrs for sharing their experiences with us👍👍😄

Finally you have landed in KL. Haven't been there since Covid..miss the food! I would think taking a coach is faster ever since their airport has shifted...hmm.
I'll always choose teh tarik at mama shops as they are best at it and not known for coffee. Indians don't really take coffee.
Cham just means yuan yang, they are the same is just that the coffee and tea in Malaysia is stronger/more fragrant generally.
Bergerdil is a very common and popular food item in all Malay food stalls hahaha, guess you have always missed it.
Assam laksa is from Penang. You gotta try it one day in Penang. This one looks a bit dliluted, not enough fish and ingredients. The har gou (prawn paste - speciality in Penang) should be poured into the soup. You should try the normal laksa with coconut in order to compare with Singapore's.
Try the KL pork noodles (dry version) called Sam Gan Chong. They have unique pork balls which are rectangle in shape and also their special pork sausage. Generally Malaysia food taste more robust, punchy, stronger everything.

Agreed. Singaporean version of food is 'friendlier' but may lack some punch if you're used to Indonesian food. Indonesian food, on the other hand, is really heavy, but if you can get the hang of it, it definitely one of the best cuisines ever.

    • @aNt1P414tAO
      @aNt1P414tAO Год назад +2

Personally, for me, Indonesian food is either too salty or way too spicy. Thai food has a better balance of flavours which complements its very spicy levels. Singaporean food is nice, but yes, more mild in taste. Malaysian foods I feel are the most balanced in everything, making all its flavours so much more enjoyable.

In my honest opinion, I think what was said about "if we really explore", we can find good food in every country. The differences about SG vs MY is the level of regulation on ingredients and health consciousness of each country. Definitely need to travel off beaten path to really enjoy the local culture and taste.

Malaysia boleh! I spent a mere 10 years in Singapore and now 4 years in Malaysia in KL. Hands down, KL wins for me. And the best Nasi Lemak here? Village Park restaurant. 😊

Actually the food in Malaysia and Singapore are exactly the same, but the food in Malaysia has taste, flavor, and robustness that Singaporean food never have. It’s a no contest, just a world apart.
@ghib ojisan, you should visit Ipoh, the food there is much much better than the food in KL, especially for Chinese food.

Haha, but many Malaysians like to say that 80% of the chefs in S'pore are Malaysians! Anyway, one man's meat is another man's poison.

Before S'pore joined Malaysia, there were already many migrants living in S'pore. Since all our ancestors ,especially Chinese ,came from the same country, it is only natural that the food we eat is very similar because most of them originated in the country where they came from. And also because both our countries are very close, we influence each other in many aspects ,especially food. I am sure before S'pore joined the M'sia federation (for only 2 years), there must be dishes that were already created in S'pore (since it was a busy port) before they became popular in M'sia and vice versa. I am glad that many tourists enjoy S'pore food very much.

For health purposes for singaporeans...less salt, sugar, coconut milk and oil...You know More in everything in food has the effect in our health.Prevention is better than cure. Fact is Malaysia has the most obesity people in Southeast Asia..Does singaporean wants to be Number 1 on that? Of coz No!

During it's heydays, Chow Kit used to be a sleazy place full of prostitutes, addicts n snatch thieves. Looks like it has evolved & the hotel looks cozy.
Used to stay in KL n the food was awesome n still is.
