Nothing can stop mother nature's course but they can do what they can to slow the erosion. I have friends that graduated from UCSB, it's a wonderful school. I've been to or seen this cliffside area before.
The costal views are always amazing 😊 Building on the bluffs never made sense to me. At some point, Mother Nature is always changing her look. 😊 Thanks for sharing.
So sad to hear about coastal erosion Santa Barbara California, the landscapes that surround these houses are amazing and surely many people had pleasant memories in these houses. Your story is very impressive my friend and I'm glad that I discovered the coast of Santa Barbara California and to see the beautiful landscapes, Thank you so much for sharing with us, Happy to see the beauty of California, Blessings!
Sad to see all the coastal erosion. We had similar situation in some areas of Nova Scotia where houses with lovely cliffside views are in danger due to the erosion of the cliffs by the ocean. I enjoyed in full to the end. Thank you, my friend.
How lovely students can release or find inspiration from watching the waves rolling in or sunset at their backyard. However, there's big risk with coastal erosion.

Thank you for sharing an engrossing video, and throwing light on the serious issue of coastal land erosion in Santa Barbara . While the views from the ocean-facing villas are breathtaking; the persistent and alarming risk, outweighs everything else. Safety must be the priority of the residents. The oil platform surely gives an illusion of a well lit ship! A big like 229👍🏻👍🏻 and best wishes from FLC Renaissance.
What shots Mike! So sorry for the people affected. The cliff erosions is so bad around the apartment building I used to live at in Pacifica, CA, that I made two videos about it. There was a lot more land facing the ocean in the 1980s then there is now and many apartment buildings and houses have been torn down. Thanks for showing what is happening in beautiful Santa Barbara. I've been there a few times too years ago.
@@thatplace1 Why thank you my brilliant friend. Your channel is so unique and remarkable. How fortunate you are to have a lovely traveling companion too.
Hey there, Mike! Watching your video about coastal erosion in Santa Barbara was both eye-opening and a bit nerve-wracking! Living on the edge, quite literally, huh? It's like a real-life game of "property shuffle" as those cliffs keep inching closer to the houses. Keep rocking those videos, Mike, dear friend!
Hi Mike! You've captured some amazing footage! I was impressed by the way you explained the problem in detail and showed us examples through your camera lens. Unfortunately, coastal erosion is a problem in many areas of the world, including the UK where we come from. Sadly, there are places where many houses, and sometimes whole villages, have been lost to the sea. Thank you for highlighting this problem and sharing it with us all ~ Julie & Lucy ❤
These cliffs and ragged rock formations are really impressive. Not good with all that erosion, of course. Wonderful share, although it must be very hard to watch for the people affected. L80 and cool greetings from Thailand.
Coastal erosion is a serious problem. Wonderful place and weather. Great information and presentation Friend. Full Watch. Thank you for sharing this Interesting Presentation.
Thanks for shedding light on the coastal erosion issue. It's interesting to see how the fences are slowly moving backwards, and how everything will slowly need to adjust over time. The area is stunning and ocean views are amazing. 🌊🌊👍

This is a major problem here in Cornwall and many other parts of the UK coastline, too (see the notes attached to my video on moving Bude Storm Tower), but you've gone in to a lot more detail than I did. Wow this video was interesting and you filmed, edited and narrated so well. This area is gorgeous and could see how the college kids from other places would love it but all that erosion is scary looks like just a matter of time. Wow ! Well done!

Mike it was so interesting that you have put this video together as we are having this problem here in North Wales with coastal erosion and houses at risk . You put together great footage here . Same problems with having to move fences back hete as well. That yellow house looked like it would collapse soon, its so close to the edge and those supports were really exposed on the houses you shown. So sad . Loved the legend of Jim Morrison :) Very informative ~ Anna 👍

Hi Mike got to say some of those houses are on borrowed time (we have a similar situation too in certain areas ) shale and sand is sketchy even with those deep foundation piles Great video Best wishes Simon

Greetings From California. It is too sad to see the erosion happening in Santa Barbara. That is such a beautiful and scenic area. Nice video. Thanks. 🙏❤🙏
I can see why they want to stay there. It's awesome. Shame to see the cliffs are eroding. Look at the exposed deep pilons. Good to see they're trying to do something. Nice share👍👍liked
wow Mike this is really interesting topic and very valuable video, erosion is world problem, I think most of countries face this issue 😔hopefully there's solution for it and everything will be find with UCSB and the student housing🙏thanks for this great video😍

Beautiful scenery and amazing narration about the coastal erosion. Such a concerning issue. Found your channel through comments on a mutual friend while looking for more travel content. Excited to spend some time checking it out.
Looks like such a beautiful area by the water! amazing location for a community college :) So cool the waves came up so high! omg must be scary living on those cliffs like that! amazing place, i hope those homes stay x
Great info and some frightening views. I would be pretty upset to have my lovely coastal view home fall into the ocean. We have some similar issues here with people building to close to the ravine cliffs.
Liked #296, looks like a beautiful place for college kids but sooner tgan later that 30-60 feet may not be high enough with the climate the way it is headed, sadly. I visited Santa Barbara many years ago, very inclusive coastal feel neighborhood.Nice detail work!! I would definitely would revisit but to actually to live there, not too sure.
Beautiful for sure! Houses and apartments are definitely a high risk especially with the earthquakes we have here in Cali. Erosion is so bad on the coastline here. Hope things change sooner then later😮Thank you for sharing
Wow. I had no idea it was that bad there. It won't be long before all the houses go crashing into the ocean. Thank you for this and have a wonderful day.
Awesome video! The erosion is astounding, I didn't realize it was happening so quickly. The rent for houses is out of this world! You would need all of those people under one roof to even begin to afford it. Thank you for the great coverage on this interesting subject! 👍👍🌹
The video highlights the significant impact of coastal erosion on the Santa Barbara coastline, particularly on student housing at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Thank you for sharing👍👌
I’m from that area & that area as looked like this or decades. They have condemned several of those buildings. Rent is astronomical due to being on the coast & UCSB. Obviously the pace of erosion has increased & will continue to do so. It’s still a beautiful area once you get out of Isla Vista.
@@thatplace1 it can be a shocker when one first sees those structures that have no back yard other than a 50 foot drop. Those cliffs are inherently unstable with the bottom half being fractured shale & the top is mostly sand. Climate change & sea level rise will exacerbate the situation.. It’s unfortunate that we ( humans) as a species have not evolved to plan for the long term. ( after we die). It’s going to cost us. Do please continue to get the word out.
@@thatplace1 If you are interested in the central coast try and get some footage of Surf Beach, near Lompoc. It is an amazing place with a beach like PISMO minus the people and Vehicles. It’s adjacent to the base & is regulated. You can still go there. Another difference between surf and Pismo beach is surf is cold and windswept. Despite the name you can’t really surf at Surf beach. Sharks, massive rip tide. Etc. Hollister Ramch is another spot. Good luck. 👍
@@khworker1322 One of my kids went to UCSB so got to SB and Pismo when visiting but did not make it to Lompoc. Surf beach near Lompoc sounds good. Noted. Thanks
@@thatplace1 My brother went to UCSB when they reinstated their football program which did not last long & he ended up transferring to UC Davis. While at UCSB he had a place on Trigo St with 3 other football players as roommates. Not sure if they spent one minute cleaning the whole time they were there. I was at Cal Poly & made several visits to IV. In any case another idea popped into my head. PCH has a whole section that is isolated due to landslides. Possible good footage to be found there. Also there is a town called summerland in between Ventura and Santa Barbara. No new construction due to risk of a massive landslide. There was one in the 1980s that took out several houses and there were some deaths. Look it up & see if there is an opportunity there. That community is like a frontier with frontier types living there. My info is dated & I don’t know the current disposition of that community. Thanks

Let's hope the cliffs don't erode to quickly with the sea salt.
Thanks Mike for sharing.
Paulo & Kathy GB. 👍💞🏖🍻🥂🍷🙏🥰
Many thanks Paulo and Kathy
The views of the ocean is gorgeous. Coastal erosion is in-fact an universal threat and home we would be soon be able to come up with a concrete solution. Thanks for taking to this coastline. Have a good evening, my friend!

Wow this video was interesting and you filmed, edited and narrated so well. This area is gorgeous and could see how the college kids from other places would love it but all that erosion is scary looks like just a matter of time. Wow ! Well done!
Thank you so much! Take good care
Wow, when nature decides to take over, no one can stand on the way, not even a grand design house. Thanks so much for sharing this
So true! Thank you
Nice film and well made this seems to be happening everywhere its sad to see beautiful places and homes disappearing
Thanks for checking it out
Hello my friend Sir Mike this is very interesting and informative content the place is beautiful with amazing view but so sad to hear for the people affected this area, the coastal erosion is very serious thank you for sharing us awesome video

Seems to be a problem around the world. Thanks for the view and nice comments. Cheers

Love all that water except it might be dangerous too
thanks for such awesome sharing! Love it!
Have a great day my dear friend ♥
Have a great day
This is really a wake up call to all of us to be able to find a best way of solution 🙏🏻. Honestly the views for this coast too stunning and gorgeous but still the dark side will be very dangerous and will collapse anytime. Thank you 🙏🏻 for sharing ❤️. Have a nice day. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪.
Thank you very much! Have a nice day! Best wishes
Hi Mike got to say some of those houses are on borrowed time (we have a similar situation too in certain areas ) shale and sand is sketchy even with those deep foundation piles
Great video
Best wishes Simon
Indeed. Thank and good to see you Simon. Cheers
Stunningly beautiful! Thank you for sharing this video with us, stay safe 😍
Thank you! You too!
Coastal erosion is a global problem. Thank you for sharing a great video! !
Thanks for watching!
It's been a long time 🙏
The scenery changes a lot and it looks fun
I was even more fascinated by the wonderful video that made use of the surrounding environment🙏🇯🇵🤝💖
Ongoing 🙏❤️🔔 I'm looking forward to your continued success 🙏👍3🎉💐
Thank you very much!
It's worrisome to see so much cliff erosion in the residential area. Thanks for the interesting video 👍
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for appreciating the global problem.

This is an awesome video you made on problem erosion my friend...what a beautiful coast and people need to adjust to erosion over time...must be challenging and residents and visitors must be kept aware of the situation...thanks for sharing the information on such problems👍👍👍
Thank you kindly

It's really spectacular views, Coastal Erosion. Santa Barbara California. UCSB Most Desirable Student Housing. Coastal erosion now. Thanks for sharing it
Thanks for sharing!
Greetings From California. It is too sad to see the erosion happening in Santa Barbara. That is such a beautiful and scenic area. Nice video. Thanks. 🙏❤🙏
I agree with you. Cheers and thanks
@@thatplace1 Welcome.
I can see why they want to stay there. It's awesome. Shame to see the cliffs are eroding. Look at the exposed deep pilons. Good to see they're trying to do something. Nice share👍👍liked
Thanks for watching! I'm glad they're trying to address the problem.
The scenery is really amazing But the house is not safe, it’s too dangerous.
Thanks my friend for sharing.
Be safe everyone and take care🙏🙏🙏🙏

wow Mike this is really interesting topic and very valuable video, erosion is world problem, I think most of countries face this issue 😔hopefully there's solution for it and everything will be find with UCSB and the student housing🙏thanks for this great video😍
Absolutely appreciate your kind comment and thanks for watching Neny.
Excellent place, nature scenery is awesome, sea view is outstanding, you've captured some interesting and amazing footage, it's heartbreaking to see such beautiful areas at risk, the views are stunning, but safety should always be a top priority for residents and visitors, awesome coastal views, pure beauty, have a good day 🌹 stay happy
Many thanks and stay happy
Beautiful scenery and amazing narration about the coastal erosion. Such a concerning issue. Found your channel through comments on a mutual friend while looking for more travel content. Excited to spend some time checking it out.
Welcome aboard!
Looks like such a beautiful area by the water! amazing location for a community college :) So cool the waves came up so high! omg must be scary living on those cliffs like that! amazing place, i hope those homes stay x
Thanks for watching! Appreciate you visiting that place
Great info and some frightening views. I would be pretty upset to have my lovely coastal view home fall into the ocean. We have some similar issues here with people building to close to the ravine cliffs.
Thanks for watching and appreciate your comment Donna.
Yes, I think you are right. Have a good one
@@thatplace1 U2 😎👍
Beautiful for sure! Houses and apartments are definitely a high risk especially with the earthquakes we have here in Cali. Erosion is so bad on the coastline here. Hope things change sooner then later😮Thank you for sharing
Thanks for visiting and commenting. Yes a quake would be a wake up for many. Cheers
Wow. I had no idea it was that bad there. It won't be long before all the houses go crashing into the ocean. Thank you for this and have a wonderful day.
You are very welcome and have a wonderful day
Awesome video! The erosion is astounding, I didn't realize it was happening so quickly. The rent for houses is out of this world! You would need all of those people under one roof to even begin to afford it. Thank you for the great coverage on this interesting subject! 👍👍🌹
Thanks for stopping by and appreciate the nice comment.
The coastline views looks fabulous! It’s amazing the buildings just sitting on the top of the coasts , such close! Great sharing 😍👍👍
Thanks for watching and appreciate your comment
The video highlights the significant impact of coastal erosion on the Santa Barbara coastline, particularly on student housing at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Thank you for sharing👍👌
Well said! All the best to you
I’m from that area & that area as looked like this or decades. They have condemned several of those buildings. Rent is astronomical due to being on the coast & UCSB. Obviously the pace of erosion has increased & will continue to do so. It’s still a beautiful area once you get out of Isla Vista.
Thanks for the view and comment. Cheers
Thanks
Living on such a seaside must be an exciting thing, especially when there are strong winds and waves, it requires great courage, Thanks for sharing us with such special place, Keep safe and stay connected, L 155 from WSDJ melbourne
