For decades ‘certain men went to these places and didn’t talk about it. Now everywhere you look there’s a RUclipsr running his mouth about checking out this place and that. Pookie and Ray Ray have taken notice and have begun infiltrating these spots and gradually leaving a path of destruction so to speak as they always do (clubs, neighborhoods, and DR for example). These country destinations are gradually responding and who can blame them? Pretty soon there won’t be anywhere to go. It’s sad. There used to be a phrase “Loose lips sink ships”…..

You say that as if these places are a secret or should be kept secret the world is here for man to explore and when information is hidden people stay ignorant, it’s equivalent to slave masters not wanting the in slaved people to read so they don’t know anything can’t explore can’t fight or know what options one has. Other groups make way more videos and have traveled more extensively then us new black RUclipsrs the way people behave is a product of their environment and upbringing it’s no fault of the content creators that black people in particular behave in less desirable behavior people like that are most likely in everyone’s family that’s pointing the finger.

@@INTERNATIONALZOE have to disagree. The difference is, unlike you showing us the real side of traveling & exploring different areas in said countries ...alot of these youtubers started out only focusing on the monger side giving out all the secrets in full detail on public platforms. Certain things should be left to behind the scenes. And I'm sure the intent was not for it get to where we are now, but unfortunately they are to blame for opening Pandora's box.
Yeah other groups make more videos & travel more, but these places for what they were ...it was some what of a hidden secret & certain info was only spoken of subliminally like in some of your videos.
Back then it was either word of mouth or you had to join a forum, chat group or such. Now its a free for all...and these "content creators" have basically been giving dudes the stamp of approval to go to these places and act a fool.
Obviously alot of us were taught some act right, but we all know the bad apples always mess it up for everyone else.

I used to think it was RUclips/exposure but I think it’s deeper than that. As Americans have traveled to these places, I think American culture is seeping into the fabric of these locations. If you look at this from above the change happened after the surge in American travelers. They’re adopting American entitlement and arrogance. They’re just being Americans, they’re adapting to American culture. In my opinion they’re mimicking our behavior. We’re teaching them how to treat us.

I was in the park yesterday (I am in CO) and saw a young lady walking by doing the "duck face" into her camera while "Selfie walking". I know it's "normal" now, but I was still astonished. They no longer have to "wait and see" what americans are doing, it can be viewed in real time and copied the next day. It's simple supply and demand Big Zoe... I've been traveling since my days of being in the Navy back in 96' We can't expect to spend Billions of our dollars in a 2nd and 3rd world economies not eventually see those places increase their prices. The key is to travel THE WORLD, not just the big 3. I'm planning multiple trips to Rwanda, Capetown and Nigeria in 2023.

Economics may be a subject not too many brothers get. Prices are set when Supply and Demand match or find equilibrium.
So more travellers with an almost fixed stock of goods and services and whatever else some of these brothers buy means prices go up.
I am a little surprised Zo pushes back on the fact that youtubers whether white or black have driven demand high, earned some dollars in the process through viewership but then somehow are surprised prices have risen.

If you're going to countries just for girls and throw money around you are the problem in my opinion. At the end of the day we can do what we want but there's consequences that come along. Prices go up, our value deminshes in those places and we rub off on them and then get mad at the fact. Everybody is not built for international travel and shouldn't do it is the problem.

I stayed in Rio for about 2 months 3 months ago and the vibe felt different from the “entertainment” perspective. Keep in mind this was my 7th trip and I always stay over a month. A few Brasileiras who I was with before had changed up their pricing. One got me good and did so after we had our fun. From 300rs to 400rs. I argued a bit but just took my L. I had known this chic since 2019 too. Brazilian chics are becoming very hardcore. Many will even go home empty handed instead of accepting 300rs. 4 years ago, they’d be happy or even lucky to get 200rs.
Too many 7’s & 8’s in Dolce asking for 500rs. I easily walk away. There’s too many options in Rio to overpay really.

If you are the guy that wants lots of entertainment/activities to do, then stick with the major cities; however, yes, they are getting more expensive, unfortunately. If you are a guy that wants the ladies, then 2nd and 3rd-tier cities are the way to go. These are cheaper, but yes, there are fewer things to do in those places, and it can get boring very quickly.

Zoe, what you have to understand is that no matter where you go, Inflation will follow. It takes a lot longer for inflation to catch up to other countries outside of the US but the term inflation isn't a US based term, Its a term used globally. How and Why would the cost of living stay low in those countries when price everywhere else is going up. They have to pay more for water, electricity, telecommunications, Pharma, and just about all cost of good, all while the population is continuing to grow. This has nothing to do with tourism, and everything to do with life, Commerce, Commercial Banking, GDP, Economic and Social growth. Native people of those countries you mentioned would agree that things were much cheaper in the years prior. It won't change, because if it does, it means a country is going backwards...not forward. Accept the change, and adapt to it. We still have today what others in those countries will never have so we're still blessed beyond our own understanding. This is a fact that no one can escape. Time has changed but this certainly normal. Bless up

I don't think it's "over" for any of these destinations. Why? Because all these locations will always be "new" to a different generation of travelers. As such, these destinations will always have those first times experiences for the newer generations.
I'm sure many regular travelers have very found memories and plenty of stories about the first few years of traveling to these destinations. How often have you heard "man, back in the day...." But after repeated travel to the same destinations, to the same spots, things become routine and eventually that "new car smell" is always lost. That's going to happen no matter where you travel or live in the world. So while these particular destinations may have lost their luster for some, that's just called life, and has very little to do with the destination itself.
How one chooses to break the routine is the key. I think becoming fluent in a foreign language is the most valuable tool a traveler can possess. I don't care if you've visited a foreign country 100 times, if you don't have at least conversational fluency, you're missing out on the vast majority of possible experiences you could have in that country. It's a guaranteed way to take your foreign experiences to a completely different level and to stave off any sense of routine for years to n come.

He isn't asking based on experiences or things maybe becoming stale. It's on the once was prices of things in those countries. The pandemic has caused business in many countries as well as the US to drive up their prices because of inflation. To try and make up what may have been lost. But yet most people's income isn't going up to be at least equal to the rise of inflation. Most that travel to those countries like the idea that their dollar could go a long way. A years in the past seasoned traveler like himself knowing what it once was will begin to look at other countries

True but the dollar will not go as far as it once did do to inflation international travels will have to content with this reality you will pay more regardless if you really like the country you will pay if not you may have to find other spots but boycotting sounds like a joke

@@adee0512 Perhaps my point may have missed. Which is, I believe a lot of what is being discussed, particularly the economic factors, boils down to pretext for plain old monotnoy and/or boredom.
If you actually consider relevant economic factors, including those you highlighted, they are inadequate to support the premise that these places are dead or dying due to the idea that they are more expensive.
In economic terms, the price of goods and services almost always rise over time. It's the nature of the beast. So I don't think anyone can realistically expect prices to remain stagnant over time. While the pandemic may have accelerated costs of goods and sercices, it also brought about a very sharp increase in the foreign buying/spending power of the USD. The USD is at at all time highs against the BRL and COP, i.e., rate levels and ranges have NEVER been higher. And at two year highs against the DOP.
For example, during the decade prior to 2020 the USD briefly reached 4:1 against the BRL, but for the majority of that decade it traded in the 3.x/1 and below range, and even traded at the 1.x/1 range for almost 3 years during that same decade. However, in 2020 the USD sharply accelerated against the BRL and has since consistently been in the 5.x/1 range, even hitting 5.99/1.
The situation is extremely similar with the USD/COP during the same period. Similarly, it also began to sharply increase in 2020 and has since been at historically high levels. Today enjoying a more than 53% increase since 2020.
Although the DOP/USD performed slightly different during the decade prior to 2020, since the pandemic the USD also began to increase against the COP, reaching two year high levels.
So true, costs of goods and services have increased in these three places and salary increases have not paced inflation for many Americans, but when you consider mitigating factors on the other side of the economic equation, the relative impact actually lands in the positive.
Put a different way, the relative increase in the exchange rate of the USD against the BRL and COP has significantly outpaced the rates of inflation in the US, Colombia and Brazil, by far. Since the pandemic, the USD/BRL has risen over 50% and the USD/COP over 53% (which is still climbing today)! To a lesser extent, but still a net positive, the USD has risen over 11% against the DOP.
So while you may pay more for that hotel or meal, the relative increase in the USD exchange rate more than makes up for that increase and then some.
In terms of economics, now is actually the time to travel to any of these places if you can swing it. High US inflation and a very high USD index are bad for domestic conditions, but a great opportunity for foreign travel.

@@lyntoncampbell1425 I think if folks looked at their total in foreign country dollar expenditure that was required for a trip taken pre pandemic and compare that to their total in foreign country dollar expenditure required for a trip taken today, they would surprised to realize that the in foreign country dollar expenditure is less today than pre pandemic, at least for the countries mentioned. The dollar goes a lot further today in these countries than it did two years, even with the increase in prices. And for Colombia and Brazil, the dollar goes much further than it ever has in history - with a 50%+ increase just since 2020.
Thus, for anyone who may claim or experience otherwise, it's NOT because these countries are more expensive. It's due to other factors, economic or otherwise, that are independent of costs within these countries.

I was thinking the same thing about the boycotting Zoe. If you can get, just your followers, to adhere to a standard in spending on certain goods and services, we can encourage a price drop on everything. So keep on pushing it brother, because you are one of the many influencers that can make it happen

The confusing thing about this statement though is if we believe a RUclipsr can convince people not to go then doesn't that mean RUclipsrs can convince people to go? My point in saying this is that the argument was that RUclipsrs aren't involved in increasing tourism in large amounts therefore affecting the local economy.

I definitely see what you are talking about. I don’t hit up Dominican Republic but Rio and Medellin are two cities I love and visit often, but their prices for airbnb is getting out of hand. But I’m an explorer at heart and the comforts of these places took me out my purpose a bit, so I’m exploring El Salvador and Panama in November & December. In the spring, I’m going back to Eastern Europe to explore. Maybe leave the big 3 for the new travelers to get their feet wet. They still serve the purpose of helping expand the mind of fellow African American men who are new to traveling. PS. My wife was dying laughing at the video of the 2 twins on the beach 😅. You looked so happy ..

Colombia is good for new travelers only if they take certain precautions and travel in groups. Otherwise, I wouldn't say it's beginner friendly. I would say the plane ticket cost is the most beginner friendly aspect.
Japan and The Philippines are 2 of the most beginner countries, Japan for safety and The Philippines for cheap prices and most people speak English there. They're not cheap to fly to though.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet Zoe. I too have been feeling like boycotting. For the reasons you said plus others but I will say this. And it's my opinion but as far as DR Is concerned the Dominican woman is starting to act more and more like the black woman in the U.S. The way the talk now, act. Back when I first went a local Dominican chick didn't even know who Beyonce was. Many of us leave the U.S. to get a break from that. I recently just left the DR it felt like i was at w Washington Heights just with a beach. I can tell you personally I won't be back in the DR for years. It's kind of wack now.
