@Esoteric UI every song off of Waking the Fallen, City of Evil, Self Titled, Nightmare, and diamonds in the rough are all masterpieces.
This conversation is weird. Buried Alive was specifically mentioned in the interview. Were the rest of these name drops necessary? They shift the focus away from the song that was actually talked about. Most A7X songs are masterpieces, but they don't have to all be brought up at once where only one is relevant.

100%. Much better than some cookie cutter interview with stale questions that I'm sure all these guys hear and answer millions of times. This was so fun to listen to and Matt is already one of the most down to earth guys out there

Yeah. This will be year 5 without a new release from A7X so I'm definitely waiting for a new one.
Personally The Stage is lower on my list of albums, personally I'd say 1) Nightmare 2) City of Evil [it's a very very close 2nd) 3) Waking the Fallen 4) Self Titled 5) Diamonds in the Rough 6) The Stage 7) Sounding the Seventh Trumpet 8)Hail to the King.

Nowadays I'm not that much of a fan of A7X like I was in the 2000's, but they truly deserve their success. They were/are constantly changing and adapting their music from album to album, they are amazing live and know how to much a great show, and they seems to be very down to earth.

He's only 4 years older than Matt and Matt looks far better.

@@will7953 Kinda sucks for us outside US who don't really have that much choice but to watch and listen to their songs digitally over the years. Personally I'd kill to listen to their new music ASAP but I understand where they're coming from and hey, October's right around the corner anyway.

he basically said that there is no promotion for rock/metal these days because there is no Mtv or other promoters around any more which used to be out there in 2000s. All they do now is trying to maintain the current level of audience and 'survive'. and we are talking about MEGA famous band A7X...

Thats why we love them!! Isn't it? In a time whe there is literally so many artists available so easily to listen to , we kind of still wait for them to drop new tracks, and thats just the band paying back to the loyal audience who made them what they're today.

Damn, Matt is starting to look like a Dad.
Time flies man...my first listen to them was back in 2012 and it's crazy how much they've changed musically and physically.
Just Matt's speaking voice sounds different to how it used to, you can hear the damage that has been done. Glad to hear how much work he's putting into protecting his voice and keeping old habits at bay now, I almost wonder if maybe not even having the option to tour this past year has been a blessing in disguise, allowing him to really take the time to heal and learn new ways to keep his vocal chords safe without the pressure of a looming tour.
Yeah, you can hear it's clearly strained, but I honestly think it's good that they are taking a little time to make a new album because that's just more time for Matt's vocals to heal!

It definitely sounds better then it did about 2 years ago before they said they weren’t going on tour because of his voice. It sounds a lot better. I agree though the more time off the better for him. I’m excited to hear the new stuff whenever it comes out

Used to see this guy around HB when I lived there. Guess we liked the same Starbucks and gas stations, lol. I never said anything to him, as I didn’t want to bother him, but we smiled “hello” a couple of times. Seems like a kind and laid back dude.
Sincerely, I love M. Shadows. As many have said, most down to earth dude to talk to. Respectful and genuine. Wish more of them were like him.

"Nightmare" is my favorite Avenged Sevenfold album. So many beautiful songs in it! And "Buried Alive" is my all time favorite song from Avenged Sevenfold!

Nightmare! One of my favourites songs of all time. I first heard it in the hospital after my motorbike accident. When I got home I searched the internet until I found the song.
Man, this was a fantastic interview. Matt was super open. Even to openly say that the Rev (rest his soul) OD’d and it was senseless. I knew how he died years ago but to hear it come from Matt really hit me now.
I’ve been a fan since I was a kid in 03 and I’m still to this day. Nightmare as hard as it was for them to put it out, it changed the world and the fans for the better. And it helped the band push past that hard time.
But great questions there Pablo! Really cool to hear him talk about a 10/10 record.
I sometimes forget I got to shake his hand at the end of a show when slipknot launched their knotfest tour in Mountain View, CA. I think it was 2017 lol. It was epic, I seen the revs deathbat on his hand real close, RIP. Such an epic night, and first time seeing them live as well
I was literally listening to Avenged Sevenfold on my computer with earbuds and am in the process of organizing their songs in a playlist (also on my laptop) and I look over and see this on my recommended. I'm not gonna question anything about that RUclips 😂

I've been a huge fan on these guys since I was 6, and after all this time everybody in the band still seems so down to earth and chill but absolutely kill it on stage. My dream is to see these guys perform one day

First show after the rev passed was HEAVY MTL in Montreal, Canada. I was there and what a show it was. One of the greatest performances A7X has put on IMO. You guys had insane energy that day, and I'll never forget it!

I was at their first show without jimmy in 2010, I think they sounded great but you can tell they just wanted to cry the whole time. Powerful performance, one show that ill remember for the rest of my life! Also it was the first time I heard so far away and buried alive cause the album wasn't out yet god was it amazing
So awesome that he lives not even a mile from me and he sometimes goes around town and yet ive never seen him lol. Maybe one day!!

Everytime he talks about the Rev you can hear his voice breaking and it breaks my heart. The guy is so proud when he talks about him though.
When Matt said "Buried Alive" I went "Yesss!". As soon as he was asked that question I was thinking to myself "say buried alive, say buried alive!"
I love a7x Ive been along time fan since a teenager, And I cant Imagine it has to be hard on them to lose a best friend And I was sad Rev passed, cause he was someone I wanted to meet. He was a dam good drummer and really funny dude. Lol Matts kids coming in Run Matt Runn!! lol

I would put City of Evil, Waking The Fallen, and possibly The Stage ahead of Nightmare. But thats the beauty of such a great band, EVERY album really is a banger. Just a matter of personal taste among metal heads when it comes to ranking them🤘
It was great to hear from Matt. I think Johnny's interview was about 7 months ago, now. I hope to be supporting a new album and tour as soon as y'all are able.

This really reminded me why these guys are and foREVer will be my favorite band. Been listening to a lot of different bands like MIW and INK and whatnot which I really like, but these guys will always be my top. Idgaf if I stop listening to them one day. I swore to myself years ago they would always be #1 in my heart. The fact that they were a group of young friends who grew up together and just wanted to rock and had a strong brotherly bond blew my mind when I was younger. Along with all their funny backstage kind of videos, I was gripped. "That is a band" I thought to myself. Not just musicians getting together that dont know eachother and just want to make money. They were in it since the beginning together. They'll always have my heart. Even if they stab me 50 fucking times.

First time I listened to the Nightmare-album, it was a emotionally ride. I couldn't hold my tears back trough "So far away" and "Fiction" . When "Save me" was on, I was on my knees. That song is a masterpiece alongside "Buried Alive".

Tbh I always assumed the members of A7X would be huge douchebags and after watching several interviews and BTS stuff I couldn't be more wrong. Great band of friends who love each other that make great music. Makes me want to revisit all of their albums.
They are indeed bunch of the nicest guys ever. They could go crazy sometimes but they're all very nice and warm. Also, I hope you'd enjoy all of their albums, it's worth all the time you'd spare to find out more about their music.
I was a fan since 2007, my best friends and I did a lot of digging into their musics, performances, interviews, footages, documentaries etc. Then we took a break from 2010 cz things were too painful for us back then (esp cz we're graduating school and got separated from e/o). So I left the fandom back then to heal. I was just revisiting them all over again to catch up for the 11 years that passed and I missed, and I can sure you that these guys didn't change at all since back then. They're keeping their roots and very very down to earth. Such a huge relief.
I get that they don't want to put the album on spotify without touring, i have a lot of respect for their decision but... DAMN I CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR IT! It would be such good news right now with everything that's going on. We'll just have to be patient I guess.
