  • Cheap homesteading is doing a review on a Shindaiwa 591/echo CS590. His friends at B and T Macfarlane gave him a saw to use for the weekend. B and T Macfarlane is a dealer for Kubota and Shindaiwa in Ottawa Canada.Hopefully we get some firewood cut.Shindaiwa is distributed in North America by Echo Canada and Echo USA.

    Shindiawa, in my opinion, is the best made chainsaw out there. I've done logging for about 30 years and own a sawmill. I've owned and operated Husqvarna, Stihl, Poulan and the Shindiawas. Husqvarna is a rough running saw that you'll constantly have to adjust the fuel mixture from season to season. Poulan.... if you're cutting firewood once in awhile and can afford the down time....ok. Stihl is a beast, but still has to be adjusted for fuel mixture from season to season and runs a bit rough (vibration) . Shindiawa however never needs to be readjusted. Ever! Check and replace the fuel filter and plug as needed and let 'er rip. I have 8 Shindiawa saws now that are anywhere from 16 to 9 years old and they all still run like brand new.

    I been in or around logging all my life so I have ran just about all makes . I walked in to the saw shop needing a saw had my mind set on a husky! but walked out with a 591 Shindaiwa at the time it was the price difference over $300 less than the same CC saw in a husky . best all around saw I have ever run. 4 years old never in the shop and worked day after day . I now have 4 of them . just a good saw!!!!!!

    I got a cs590 Echo for my Dad he's 74, Loves it. He's had it for about 4 years now. We keep talking about a wood splitter, but sense having this saw, we don't need a splitter. It rip cuts just fine. About a year before buying this cs590 I got a cs400 it impressed me. Was a Husqvarna fan, them saws are tuff, drove over one, packed it in the mud. With a 24000 lb capacity hyster forklift. Didn't hurt a thing. Cleaned it up a little bit, pulled the rope and it ran just fine.

      They make a great saw.people under estimate them in my mind they are just as good as stahl and Husqvarna. Thanks for watching man

      @@cheaphomesteading look who markets the ( cheaper China knockoff) of the echo in the USA. Echo itself? I only paid $399.00 for the cs590. What's up with that.

    Skip and go 620p instead, you get rim sprocket +$60, aluminum bar +$100, solid chain bar +$60 much better when pinched, better carb + $20, better coil, magnesium case that does not melt when you let it sit.

    The Shindaiwa 591 and Echo 590 are the best bang for the buck chainsaws period! I bought a 620P w/24" bar. It's a monster for a 60cc saw and will easily run a 27" bar and chain. With a proper tune and a slight muffler mod, I've seen these saws cut as fast and faster than 70cc chainsaws. These saws perform more like the Macs. Rpms are slower, but they have the torque.

    Great video Pete. I have the Echo CS 590 chain saw and it is a great saw. Starts on 2 or 3rd pull from cold start. This is my first Echo chainsaw and I use their weed eater's too. One of the best companies for quality equipment for your money in my opinion. I am always willing to try different saw manufactures but only if they have a good reputation. Have a Great week and a Blessed Day Friend!

    After lots of considering the various options (I initially had a Stihl 261 C-M in mind to go with my other Stihl gear) I bought a Shindaiwa 501SX 50cc version recently to replace my old Jonsered 590 (which also wouldn't wear out). I love the Shindaiwa, even lighter than the Jonsered and way lighter than the equivalent pro Stihl and Husqvarnas. Throaty like that one and lightweight performer. Very happy.

    I haven't been able to run any of the newer echoes and shindaiwas because my old ones don't wear out! Great saws.and I like my Huskies too but for the money you can't beat the echo. I know this video is 9 months old now but great video anyway!

    The shindaiwa 591 and echo 590 have 1 ring the 620p and shindaiwa 600sx have two. More power but extra weight like 13.2 vs 13.7 But then you have rim sprocket setup too. Shindaiwa 600sx is $499 ebay now. Disreguard what the guy said about choke pull it only halfway in good weather soon as it starts push in. The red/black looks better than echos orange and orange. On the 50 cc echo or shindaiwa for the stihl heads who will say oh choke is plastic. Put a magnet againts it. its a metal rod with plastic overmold.

    Muffler mod that and the 590 take muffler off and 3 screws on top. I believe T27 Cut top of that flap so it wont restrict and you will swear you have a differant saw!!!! Dont Grind giant hole like that one guy did. If you followed his method just take muff off and trashcan it. His wud sound like space shuttle taking off. By doing that flap which is easy. The 4 Torque screws were put it by gorillas at factory with lock tite so use ratchet to get them turning then use T27 or drill

    How's she goin'? Sure looks like a nice saw. Cuts nice. The vibration dampening would be good since the vibs can tire you out pretty quick. Take care!!

    Too bad you couldn't use it longer and give a more in depth review. You should ask them if you could use it for another couple of months. I was looking for a larger saw. I might have to check those out. Take Care Pete.

    How does it compare to the Holzforma 372?

    • @cheaphomesteading
      @cheaphomesteading  4 года назад

      The Holzforma has more power but it is 10 cc bigger. Saying that the 591 in my opinion runs stronger then a 60 cc saw. The 591 really holds it rpm well under various loads. Thanks for watching man

    Mr. Cheap homesteader.you to think about bore cutting a tree when you cut it down.to keep it from barberchairing.seriosly my friend.

    • @obeconoberougle9497
      @obeconoberougle9497 4 года назад +1

      Bore cuts can be done on any tree, but they are primarily used on trees with a lean of any substantial amount.
