I hope they turn this into an anthology series, featuring all the major Targaryen events: Dance of the Dragons, Blackfyre rebellion, Doom of Valyria, Aegon's Conquest and Robert's rebellion. They wouldn't even have to make a new series, this one's already named, "House of the Dragon".

house of the dragon is legit one of the best show i have ever watched. It kept me intense the whole season. There wasn’t one episode where i felt boring. I give this show a rating of 9/10 because the character changes was hard to swallow but this show did justice.
Indeed, the character changes did hurt me but I eventually got used to the new ones.
Can't wait to see the prequel movie about Aegon the Conqueror 🔥⚔❤🔥
The second Alicent was much sexier
character changes were necessary , it wasn't that necessary but they did it so we can have more understanding of the character.
see it like the story actually begins from ep.5 but they decided to give the character development of there younger selves.
lazy writing could easily start the story from ep 5.
The changes of character really startled me everytime😂 but I must give them credit for their acting was still topnotch. I, myself, find it intriguing because their stories are so unpredictable, it's what made me loved this series.
"When a Targaryen is born, the Gods flip a coin." This show looks like it's going to exemplify that in spades. And I love how this show revives an aspect of Game of Thrones that revolves around the idea of everyone fighting for the throne and control.
When it comes to Daemon, the coin is still deciding.

The one thing I like about this is.........the ENDING of the series is already written out so we won't have to deal with a rushed ending. I hope to see Game of Thrones levels of seasons 1-4 from this show.

How ? This is still GoT, the real title of the series is "Got: House of the Dragon".
There is a major change from GOT in context of Aegon’s prophecy of only a prince (John Snow) rising to the Iron throne in order to save humanity from the white walkers. In GOT it’s not given any significance, that’s why Arya stark was made to kill the white walker king.

I always loved how the Targaryen songs from GoT were made in terms of majesty in comparison to the others. But this masterpiece here... this is a whole new thing. Ramin is still HBO's greatest treasure for the world of Ice and Fire.

I personally didn't enjoy the music here. But Ramin was perhaps the most consistently brilliant thing about GOT. Even phenomenal actors like Dinklage and Lena (and many others) were totally let down by the script. But Ramin delivered every single time for 8 years.

I really like how each dragon has its own look, they're not basically copied and pasted from one. They seem to all be different sizes and colours which makes this show seem like it's going to pay more attention to the details of the dragons.
For sure.... I thought the trio from GOT looked way too cookie cutter. You could barely see their different colouring, let alone any unique features.
Idk, it gives How To Train Your Dragon vibes, kind of childish.
They should also all have different color flames like in the books. I get it may bee too fantasy, if they make em bright colors...but bleeding in some color into the normal fire would be cool. Juuust a little
@@KS-xk2so yeah Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion only looked different in certain scenes with different lighting, however their faces were exactly the same. I also wished they put armour on the dragons, like it shows Caraxes wearing some in this trailer. ☺️

I agree greatly, that was the primary reason I got into Game of Thrones in the first place, due to a dearth of dragons in media especially ones targeting an adult audience
Oh boy if you love dragons then you really are not going to like whats going to happen to most of them, unless they change parts of the story. Most died in pretty gruesome ways.
I want to see them rebel and burn them with their fire and survive because of their bloodline. Maybe their eyes go purple when they have the flames. Would be legendary

Season 8 had some of the most dodgy writing and underwhelming conclusions I've seen in any HBO series, it went against years of character and storyline build-up. D&D rushed the final season so they could go and produce Star Wars movies, but they butchered s8 so bad they got dropped and now no one in Hollywood would hire them, good riddance.

I really hope so, I feel like shows now build the fan base with first season with great writing and then when they are racking in enough money from the fan base they decide “We don’t need to try anymore, let’s chill back, fanbase will eat anything at this point” then the terrible writing and plot choices begin.

The dragons look amazing. I already thought GOT had some of the best dragon depictions on screen, but they look even better here.
They need to be, they are major characters on HOTD, where in GOT they were more side characters who had there big moments
The only other movie/show with the great animation of dragons is the movie Reign of Fire even if it didn't make much sense those dragons were so beautifully animated

The dragon on dragon fights, especially in broad daylight or in the middle of a lightning storm is going to be insane. And they have to one up not only game of thrones but themselves every single season and time it happens. I hope they come to understand less is more with these dragons because that was one of the best aspects of the original show and George’s work in the books.
The one at storms end is going to be CRAZY I can’t wait I believe that should be in season 2

This show will do the dragons in GRRM's world justice.they looked great in thrones, but this show is going to take them to another level with the lore/design. I can't wait until fans see what the dragons of this era looked like, because some of the features that are described in the books are breathtaking.
Now this feels like the quality from the beginning seasons of GoT that everyone fell in love with. Please don't mess the series up 🙏🏼

As in: how can you tell from this trailer that the quality of writing, character development and dialogue is present?
Because if you mean the visual effects on display here are comparable to the beginning of the show, you'd have to rewatch the series to remember how it was way less grandiose and more low fantasy (due to low budget) back then.

Apart from looking nothing like the dragons outta thrones it’s neck is too long I think and the horns are ridiculous and it’s a dragon that’s 80 years old that is smaller then drogon who’s max 10 years old

Really strong start so far. Matt Smith turned my fears about him on their head in the space of one scene. All the cast is spot on actually, and from ep 1 it's got that thrones vibe where you can put any of these two characters in a room together, and sparks will fly, sometimes literally as their blades clash.
Keep it up, HBO. The story is there in Fire and Blood. All you have to do is tell it.

One of my favorite actors, Graham McTavish is in this show. The Hobbit, Outlander, and now House of the Dragon. The cast is strong in this one.

yep....that quote is actually very deep.....we often must choose...eventhough we might hate it ....but the other side is often even worse and as a history student I know that in medieval era / dance of thedragons is pretty much abotu struggles of being the first queen of the country) females were treatd horribly...even Elizabeth I had sooo many attempts on her life...it wasnt asy for women, so I think its very interesting story to tell

This does look good tbh. Good writers, a completed and fleshed out story, the original music composer from GOT, great directors... Excellent cast of actors and actresses. Also, it looks more colourful than GOT too... Helmets with crests, banners, bright costumes... Plus lots more dragons.
Ryan Condal is the writer and he’s very unproven. And the extent of GRRM’s involvement isn’t really known. I don’t believe he’s even written an episode which he did for GoT for a few years. So I really wouldn’t say the show has good writers. All we know for sure is GRRM is involved to some extent(though he was for s8 of GoT as well), we have Ramin Djawadi back for music, and Miguel Sapochnik is also a big part of the show who directed many of GoT’s most iconic episodes.

I was so disappointed with the design of the dragons. They look like a low-quality computer game and look awful and it hurts me, as one who from the moment he discovered there was a chance for a series about the period straight up got excited. Hopefully next season will make them like in Game of Thrones where they look real and like they are right there in the world

There was a handful of scenes from this trailer that I noticed didn't make the final cut. I don't remember Rhaenyra (older) mentioning "she'll block my way" when she was talking with Daemon at Driftmark. Also we didn't see Syrax like the last shot of this trailer in the official show.

I love how colorful the armours and the dragons are, just like how George has described them. Everything was always too dull and dark in GOT, which is ok, but can be kinda exhausting to the eyes as well.
The original show emphasizing the low fantasy, medieval aspect of GOT made it feel very grounded and real despite having magic which was a huge part of the appeal. I think they understand this and have struck a good balance when adding more colour and making things more accurate to the books though so I can't complain. It adds a bit more contrast.
EDIT: lads, the OP said *"everything was too dark and dull"* in the original show. I don't think colourful armours are unrealistic. I was just saying that that general aesthetic was a big part of the show's success and this is an appropriate way to add colour without it looking too high fantasy. The dreary Northern countryside was my favourite part of the show. Maybe it's because I'm Irish and it was shot here. haha

most of the GoT is set in north which is gloomy cuz of the winter weather, guess what we talking about a story of south which has more vegetation and bright weather in this one. So colour pallet difference is obvious.

Looking forward to seeing possible biological mother of Dany's dragons, Dreamfyre, the pale-blue dragon. Since Elissa stole 3 of her eggs and sold it in Bravos during Jaehaerys' reign, there is a chance Dreamfyre is the mother of Dany's dragons. And since Dreamfyre will be in HOTD because Helaena is riding her, they could mention this incident of egg stealing or design Dreamfyre in such a way that she is structurally similar to Dany's dragons, then that will be a hint to the mystery of Dany's dragons' parentage.
I hope they use Drogon, viserion and Rhaegals design for Dreamfyre!! It’ll be a nice hint without actually saying it. Just make her slightly larger, slimmer and pale blue/silver
it's possible, but Illyrio said that the eggs came from Ashaii in the first book when he gave them to Daenerys. However, we don't know the full history of the eggs since being sold to Braavos so it remains a strong theory to me at least. Plus 3 eggs is rather suspect.

If you had read the book you knew it all along. I noticed they seemed to make the rivalry between Rhaenyra and Daemon but book readers we knew it was about Alicent vs Rhaenyra or Rhaenyra vs Aegon. And well, still loads of things that need to happen that will be seen in season 2

“For every action, there is an equal or opposite reaction.” Maybe the disappointment and sudden ending of Game of Thrones has caused a positive reaction in The House of the Dragon. Maybe the ending of Game of Thrones needed to happen so HBO understands the beauty of the intimate storytelling in the early seasons of GOT and continue that feeling in this series. I am excited for this show because it brings the visceral tone back to Westeros.

I love that the dragons looks individual from each other, unlike in GoT where they exactly look the same just with different colors.
Here in HoTD each dragons has its own facial features and facial structures and different body structures, u can really identify one from another.
Also they redesigned the dragons to be more biologically plausible. They extended the wings to go down to the base of the tail, cos in reality the legs and tail will droop downwards if theres no membrane there to catch air and lift the legs and tail.
In GoT the dragon wings only went down the dragon's waist, which is biologically wrong cos the rear part of the dragon will droop down when it flies real life per se.
I love that detail.
Also the flying animations improved, very bat-like wing flapping cosnthats how membrane wings actually move in real life.
Edit: i just realized, The iron throne will gradually lose those swords as the show progresses, which will lead to the iron throne we saw in Game of Thrones.
The gradual losing of swords of the throne is also a metaphor of the targaryens slowly losing their grip on power and dominance and then they will get overthrown by the kingslayer jaime and the Baratheons, which is the beginning of Game of Thrones season 1.
Drogon, Viserion and Rhaegon are triplets, ofcourse they look alike.
I mean that is to be expected. The budget for this prequel is much greater than GOT, especially during the early GOT seasons, when they skipped battled scenes prob due to lack of CGI/budget. At the end of the day, none of that really matters. The plot, dialogue and characters are what will determine the success of this show.

Actually, wings all down the sides to the tail is less biologically likely, because the lift from wings comes more from their shape than their size. Long fins down the sides would create huge amounts of drag and almost no lift, and therefore be a hindrance.

Seems like we’re gonna get a a good depiction of Otto Hightower’s manipulation of Viserys that led him to undermine Daemon and eventually exile him. The books always hinted at his role in the conflict and left it to readers to piece the clues together. Gettin a more first hand view of his schemes will be dope. As a 2nd son of a noble house, having your daughter become queen has to be one of the most ambitious glow ups ever achieved in the 7 Kingdoms lol. Seein him and Daemon’s beef w/ each other is gonna be epic

In the long run, the Hightowers definitely benefitted from the ladder created by the chaos of the Dance. But it really could’ve easily led to the extinction of their entire house and seat

Despite how disappointing the ending to season 8 was. From what I've seen of this project it looks like the people working on it are passionate about delivering something the fans might actually enjoy. The visuals especially look to be on point. And in some areas actually surpass GoT from what's shown in this trailer. I love the more ornate armours and the expanded Iron Throne. Seems aesthetically closer to the world Martin envisioned in many ways. I just hope the plot delivers in the end!

Miles ahead? It's 99% CGI, what made GOT brilliant was the raw grit of the villages towns and cities. This looks like a fairyland. The dragons didn't make GOT good, the writing, cast and dark themes tone did. This is going to crash.

I'd love if they really can turn this into an anthology. Two or three seasons for the The Dance of Dragons, one or two seasons for Aegon's Conquest, and two or more seasons for The Blackfyre Rebellion.
@@NukeMarine no. Aegons story would take too much money and CGI, I'd prefer one of those realistic 3D animations where they could go all out all the while maintaining the Targaryens real look
I'd have rather watched the long night show they cancelled or a show about how the starks united the north but hey this is pretty cool aswell.

watching the trailer after finishing the whole season and WOOOOOOOWWWW everyone in the team who worked to bring this project alive did a TERRIFIC job!! hats off to everyone! hope you guys maintain this quality in the next seasons too and do the dance of the dragons and all my favourite characters justice till the end InshaAllah ! this show deserves all the nominations and awards! a masterpiece i could watch again and again and again
