I agree with you 100%, Bill. No one can replace or improve on Freddie Mercury. He was an icon and deservedly so. I don't think this version exceeds Mercury's, in any way. And, I do admit that I am a total Marko Hietala fan. That can color my opinion a bit. I thought that Marko did a great job with this song. You need a strong, clear voice like his to even begin to do any kind of justice to the song. The technical thing that caught me on this song was Marko's vibrato. That is a thing of beauty. The other thing that I picked up from this version was that he understood the meaning of the song and was able to transmit that understanding. He's been through enough struggles in his life that he understands that it is "everyman" who is the true champion. That people get knocked down, and they just keep getting up, again and again. And, I think at least, that he conveyed that understanding very well.
Yes, I agree. I do believe he can put the meaning behind the lyrics into his vocal performance. That changes everything! And yes, he certainly has gone through a lot and gets it. I do love his vibrato- it's just right for the part, never over-done, delicate when needed, strong and epic when needed.

Hi Bill, I agree with you completely. You can't replace Freddie or QUEEN, you can only pay tribute to them. And it's just wonderful that this music lives on.
Nothing needs to be said about Marco... It's so good that he's back on stage! I got to see him with his solo program “Pyre Of The Black Heart” - fantastic! And with TAROT! In a very small venue. The band, especially Marco, made all the fans laugh after the concert, it was an unforgettable evening. Photos, autographs, silly stuff ... just great! So nice and friendly.
He did a lot of cover songs with THE NORTHERRN KINGS and he also won The Masked Singer in Finland. Now he's on the road with TARJA....🔥🤘

I am so envious that you got to see Marko, and Tarot, live. I'm in the USA, and I doubt that Marko will ever come anywhere that I would be able to get to to see him. But man, if it ever happens, I'm there.
He is such a great guy! I have no doubt he has a wonderful sense of humor. Like @WNYretiree says, it may be unlikely we will get a chance to see him live, with Tarja or Tarot here in NY. The closest for my might be Brooklyn but that's still quite a trek. I'm sure it would be very worth while, though! Thank you, my friend! 🤘❤️🤘
What a great cover by Marco. Nobody can do a Queen song like Freddie Mercury, but this was really good! I like hearing other artists do covers and make them their own, as long as the don't F*** them up.
Marko did justice to this song, great job. But obviously Freddie is irreplaceable.
Favorite Queen song? I have to go with "Princes of the Universe".

GREAT COVER BY MARCO! WOW! As for my favorite Queen song, it's always been "Bohemian Rhapsody" (with this one running a close second).
As for the best COVER, EVER of "Bohemian Rhapsody," I would highly-recommend that you would react to Dan's version (I figure you were probably expecting that...grin). Thanks for this one, Bill. GREAT REACTION!

Wow, he's really leaning into the vibrato (and it's a very even vibrato). Good in itself, but also making the occasional straight parts stand out. Favourite Queen song? _The_ _Prophet's_ _Song._ But my favourite album is Queen II.
