A guitar I'd love but likely never own is one of Mick Thomson's old signature models (BC Rich Warlock, Ibanez MTM1/2/10/100, or Jackson Soloist). Especially in red.
I own an old school BC rich warlock. Probably the best and most favorite guitar I have ever owned. Not a signature series, but still a fun guitar nonetheless. If you can get your hands-on one I highly support that decision LOL.

Devin Townsend Framus Ziltoid V
Huge 7 string flying V, with a baritone neck, LED's inside the fretboard and head of the guitar, more lights lasers and fog machines inside 2 cavities in the corpus facing downwards.
One of a kind, if framus wouldn'tve gifted it to Devin, it would have cost him around 40k $.
Look at "March of the Poozers" live at the Royal Albert Hall, he's using it there

I am 7 years too late to find this!
My list starts off somewhat similar:
1. ESP MX-220 (EET FUK) - I have a 2017 ESP MX-II (250 shape) custom order in vintage white with a rosewood board, bone nut etc. which is as close as I'll get.
2. Dean USA Dime Slime ML - I used to have a USA Dean From Hell and got rid because of the neck profile more than anything, but I've always loved the slime.
3. ESP KKV-380 (red crackle) - I had the opportunity to buy the 'prototype' version of this without the silver in the crackle pattern, it was as good as identical to the one used in the Seasons In The Abyss video, but turned it down to buy my first ESP Hanneman (2004 S&Key Urban Camo).
4. ESP Hanneman 'Flecktarn' - not a commercially available model as such, but there are a few floating about. There were rumours going around that the cost of recreating the splatter camo finish was insane so they never really made them. Obviously the Totenkopf 'Death's Head' inlays make it a bit questionable as well.
5. ESP Hanneman S&Key Urban Camo - I used to have one from 2007-2017 but sold it. They only made 3 or 4 of them before halting production owing to the S&Key inlay so they are very hard to come by. I doubt I'll have one again for that reason (though I do now have a 2022 Hanneman Urban Camo (H & Dagger inlay) in it's place.
The Black Machine guitars are fantastic. An old band mate still has one and they are fantastic. Like an RG on steroids. I always tried to take it home 😃

Also, I wasn't aware about the ESP/Gibson lawsuit, that sucks, but I'm not entirely surprised.
My number 1 was an ST Pro, but I didn't want to spend £4k on a guitar that was probably only £1200 new. So I bought one of the Solar Type X EU Masterbuilds and now it turns out they've only made 10 of them, so it's super rare and plays like an absolute dream. I absolutely love it.

I've been lucky enough to see and play a few replicas of those guitars (never owned one tho)
A local luthier in my country made an exact replica of Hetfield's flaming sun KL explorer. It was absolutely gorgeous.
One of my friends has a black ESP MX250 that he got yeaaars ago for like 2.5k and man, that thing basically plays itself. I've tried to buy it from him many many times, but he won't sell it. He also owns a Gibson LP custom bullseye (Zakk Wylde signature) that he won't sell either.
For me, guitars that I'll probably never own are one the original Gibson 1984 explorers, A Gibson custom V in silverburst, an 80's Gibson LP custom in silverburst (mostly due to the Adam Jones hype) or something like Matt Heafy's 7 string Gibson Explorer, basically becasue that is just a one off.
Good list. I would personally have went with the Washburn dime southern cross.
Yamaha AES-FG, Amazing, and rare guitar. (About 2000 world wide, as far as I know)
The hetfield ESP V's with that headstock :) rare as rockinghorse shit and sooooooo cool :)
And Stunning Cunts is one of the best recorded performances of Metallica (that and s&m), childhood nostalgia for the win!!!

I used to had massive gas for bernie rico and what not... kinda still wanna do a custom kiesel build and somehow i wanna play a caparison...so nothing rare but expensive i guess... but now i am mostly looking for older ibanez, jackson or esp/ltd guitars. Mainly 7 string...
One guitar I wish I would've got earlier is Clint Lowery's signature PRS. I haven't seen one for sale second hand ever. I've only ever seen it in MysticGuitar77's videos and when I've seen Sevendust live
Another ultra rare guitar is the 2012 Gibson Paul Landers Signature Les Paul. Doesn’t surface on the market often, if at all. Think the last time one was selling was back in 2020. Super cool guitar, and very rare
the original ibanez S seris with the original zero resistance trem. had one lost in in a sale was honestly the best guitar I've ever owned

Pff to many, but I guess my top three would be: ESP George lynch sunburst tiger, Steve vai jem77 fp2 or swirl and “the one that got away” ESP standard series horizon nt in natural flame. Played it and should have bought it. Still regret it after 12 years. Can’t find one here either.
I own an Ibanez JPM, which is a dream guitar in itself. But there’s another big dog Ibanez that I’ll probably never even have the chance to own.

right now, my dream rare guitar is the Gibson Brendon Small Ghosthorse Explorer. not extremely rare, but they still go for around 4k-5k, which is obscene to me. i LOVE metalocalypse, and brendon small is one my favorite guitarist, so yea :)
Much less rare than these, but I want a Jay Yeunger Iceman. As far as I've been able to find out, under 300 were made, and they rarely come up for sale. Getting to the point where I might as well try building one myself, assuming I'll have enough fingers left to play it when I'm finished.

Let me see, nothing too outrageous for me, A Kerry King ESP Flying V with the reverse hockey stick or banana headstock. An ESP Eclipse, full thickness silver sunburst. A Joe Duplantier made in USA Charvel San Dimas. A 1970 Black Les Paul Custom. Lastly but not leastly a Jim Root USA Jazzmaster in Black 👍🤘

@@NorthwestGuitarworks That's the P4! Fun fact, it's the only one with a matte finish (including the headstock, making P4 necks unique as well!). John used it to record most of Metropolis Pt. 2 (except for "Home", which was done on the JPM "desert camo" prototype).
Mine is a P3, which was the white & black one used on the entirety of "Falling Into Infinity" & LTE 2. Love these guitars!!!

A super rare guitar is wayne static's dean ML modifier they only made 2 of them this is when wayne left static-x and made a new band but used the static-x name his last album was his pig hammer album it has like a really dark tone to it cause its about is drug addiction and being a alcoholic his dean ml modifier he played on stage was all black and tuned down to A sharp and they made wayne a second one it was purple with bevelled edges the body was purple and the edgeing was black very beautiful thats one of my dream guitars is waynes ml modifier i really want the dean ml Florence black satin with fishman florence pickups but that 1,200 bucks and i cant get that
