Great tutorial, I’ve never heard anyone play it the same as the one version I’ve seen on RUclips of Jerry playing it, it always seems to be Tommy’s version !
Wonderful stuff, Tim, as always. Regarding the intro, my two cent tip would be that lowering your thumb position a bit on the fretboard can be helpful in supporting that pinky bar.
perfect, once I finish Mombasa and S.f.a.rainy morning, gonna start with this. Tim, one question, I have sent my new guitar to luthier but still I have some buzzing at low E at 2+3 fret and A and D as well... Truss rod does not help, maybe 0. fret adjustment...
Could be a fret sticking out just a little bit? Remember, Tommy plays with an extremely light touch, so if that buzzing sounds forces you to do the same you might be close to replicating what he does!
Super and will be starting this one soon! Your Blue Moon tutorial was incredibly helpful, you’re a fine teacher and presenter. Thank you, Tim, and thank you, O Covid Haircut the Fluffy. Listening to this at speed, I wonder if the pinkie barre can be somewhat alleviated. The notes don’t really ring together, so perhaps the barre can be very slightly “rolled” to just the top 3 strings. Would reduce some of the pressure. Thank you again Tim, best wishes from a student of yours in Canada. Jz
Covid The Fluffy here :-D I'll do a small extra video on that opening section soon, there still are quite a few people struggling with it and it think I have a better angle on explaining it now! It's a trick rather than something based on strength...
Ive been briefly testing out the opening and think that hyperextending the pinkie helps - that is, making it as straight as possible, and then even straighter! With no bend, the strings get pressed down and don’t get lost in the soft flesh between the joints. RUclipsr Merce Font has a video on this, I think it’s one of her barre chord tutorials. When I extend my pinkie, my wrist also has to drop way down. Maybe that’s one approach. Cheers! Jz
Indeed, it's something I can't do because of the RUclips copyright system. As soon as I play the song in full at the start of the video it will get a claim and the (very little) revenue it generates is taken away. But I do play through each section before explaining, no?
I've been waiting for such an educated, detailed tutorial. Thank you so much for this ❤
Thank you! Much appreciated 😃

It's been two or three years since I did this song and I can still remember how that intro felt the first time I tried it 🤣

I will strongly suggest you pls play all thru at the beginning of your tutorials. Or at the very least play thru each section
he’s got the whole song playthrough on a seperate video.

Where is the tab?
Its on patreon. He had to remove them due to copyright issues.
