  • Hi!
Happy 2024! 🎉🎉 We hope you had a nice holiday season!
We’ve been sitting on this video for a while now, but we’ve been busy with other things.
The Class 319s are well known for their hard work on the Midland Mainline, right through to Brighton, and the suburbs of London and some work in Surrey.
A capable dual voltage unit, with a maximum speed of 100mph (161 kmph), these old work horses found their way onto Network Souteast in the late 80s. These units achieved 100mph running on the Midland and WCML on Journeys to Rugby!
After well over 30 years of hard work, it was sadly time for these units to take their final bow at London North Western, resulting in no more Class 319 operations in the Southeast.
On three separate occasions, we visited Watford Junction following a trip on the Class 319. We were there to see the last ever Class 319 depart Watford Junction, before they were replaced by class 730 units.
Please, sit back, relax, and enjoy the traction of these old units for the last time!

Once the 455s go, Scotland will be the final bastion of Mk3 EMU operation in the UK (just like they currently are for HSTs) as they're still yet to confirm a plan to replace their 318s and 320s.
