Absolutely fantastic! Well done Merseyrail. Let’s hope 002 now in Merseyrail revised livery 😊 and then preserve at least one set for future generations to appreciate too.
you have all done a great job over the last 45 years and many people have many memories on this great train. coming home from town on a saturday night with your new girlfriend or mates, going to southport as a kid in the summer. For me the best EMU the country has ever had..i will miss them.
certainly sad for them to be going. growing up in North wales during the mid to late 00s, i'd see them at Chester station and they always intrigued me. We never went up the Wirral, always towards Manchester, so the Merseyrail trains had a sense of wonder and adventure about them. First couple of times going on them felt like I was going to a whole new world as a child thanks to that. When you mention Merseyrail to me, I'll always think of a 508 disappearing down the Wirral from Chester's platform 7.
I sincerely hope 507001 enters preservation, it HAS to! A very special unit indeed being the first 507 built as well as its Royal connection. It would be such a shame to let all the hard work of this heritage wrap go to waste. 001 is a superb unit and should be kept for future generations.
Love the whole idea, Merseyrail really have done well to celebrate these trains and hopefully they will be perserved. I remember watching the same video type for the tiger livery to the current one, its nice to see another!
Got to say though , i was on 018 the other day and this mother of a younger one said to him : say goodbye to the train! And he replied with : BYE BYE TRAIN and i just thought to myself, bye bye indeed , to be fair, i litterly just went to Liverpool to ride it and £59 was worth it , well done merseyrail, i will actually sob over this on the railtour
Man, the last one goes when im in holiday, so i cant say goodbye :(, this struck me in 2020 when i heard they were going. Thank you 507/8 for the wonderful journey and for making me laugh when the engine makes the humming noise
Used the Southern equivalent several times over the years and also when they were used for a while on the Tonbridge-Redhill route in the noughties. They were certainly way ahead of the old slam door stock, although showed their age latterly once newer stock was introduced. A shame to see them disappear from the rails.
Awww, totally sad to see these go - these and their cousins the 313's and 315's were the first brand new trains I experienced as a lad and I promptly subscribed to Modern Railways (Ian Allen) out of fascination. I hope that many sets will get preserved.
My dad HE0038 Fred from port sunlight loved his job and he couldn't wait to see the new trains out in service he turned round said to me he would have seen two lots of new trains put out on Merseyrail And in his name of memory there will be a train simulator classic route of Merseyrail built by myself it will be published for people within the next coming months so people can enjoy it as much as i am building it.
Trying to remember where I've seen that old logo before while out and about. I'm sure I've seen it on a sign at a station or two on the network that has managed to avoid being replaced with the current logo.

A shame that a bit of yellow vinyl wasn't applied on the cab ends to cover the black "eyebrows" surrounding the head/tail/marker lights to make it look a little more authentic. I'll be nice though - it's a nice sendoff (I bet the 777s won't last as long as the 507/8s have) - and not mention the fact that Southern did the same a few years ago with 313201 🙃
