My brother bought the greatest hits album when we were in sixth and seventh grade. We played it a million times. All these years later, I still love the Rascals.
Loved Felix Cavalier, he was a great friend to the incredible Laura Nyro, finding her farm, that she bought in the early 70’s, where she lived till her early death in the 90’s. Oh Happy Day….
I just love this band. I like that the backup singers are in the front, and the lead singer is in the back. And sounds great even with no bass player live. So much energy and soul here.
Well, Felix is hitting the bass pedals (can't hear it too well b/c the Hammond organ/Leslie amp combo isn't that powerful in its original state.) He prob should've had a separate amp for the bass pedals. You can ."kinda" hear it!
This was a great performance by one of my favourite groups, The Rascals. Truly underrated, but the late Dino Danelli on drums, and Felix Cavaliere on keyboards were the best. Eddie and Gene were also very good. R.I.P. Dino Danelli
It seems like I’ve heard these guys all my life and despite my younger age, I never purchased or bought any records from the Rascals. But boy! I just love rediscovering their music, even after over 50 years, it just makes me embrace their underrated talent. Thanks to the RUclips channel, for that. Johnny, Montréal, Canada 🇨🇦
Not really under rated. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!! I have some of their albums and 45’s. Loved them ever since i was a young teen. They rock!
we saw them in December at Capitol Theater in Portchester, two of the three nights. They have not missed a beat or a step in 40 years...what other 60's era bands can say that??? Dino...my brother's rock drummer inspiration...I can see Dino's style and remember brother Johnny's hard rock drumming style...my bro was a great, great drummer...RIP, 1952-2011. Wish he could have seen the concernt with us, he would have loved it...
Thank you for posting. This is from the Barbara McNair show, circa 1970. I've only seen the second part posted, this is a treat to see the whole performance. The Rascals were the best, and i agree, someone should release a DVD of their performances. Maybe Steve Van Zandt; he's a huge Rascals fan.
REAL LIVE MUSIC... I remember we (my bands in the 60's) could FADE out live on stage..... cover the bass drum with a blanket and play through a Fender Bassman head....talents lost today...
Gail sorry to hear about you're brother's death.I too was a dino fan next to buddy rich.I also was born in 1952 and still play the drums sometimes.the rascals were my favorite band in the 60s.
Dino is my favorite drummer of all time.....just a cool cat behind a drum set and so much fun to watch. Spends his time painting these days from what I've read. Not sure if he even plays anymore.
Felix is playing. a lead Rhythm bass guitar on a Hammond and singing lead writing the lyrics as a composer. FELEX. wow OMG WOW better music vibration and lyrics than the. DOORS
I'm so pissed I didn't know how great this band was and missed the reunion tour in 2013. Dino was one of the best drummers of the era! Since then, Felix sued the others for the trademark name and destroyed them ever getting back together again. RUclips is all that's left of The Rascals.. So sad.
Me, too. I only knew their hits and just got into them last year. I have the seven albums they released as a foursome. All are top-notch with no filler.
@@lornestein7248 do a youtube to mp3 converter and download the albums off youtube, but also what happened since 2013 with the rascals? i got into them about a year ago and missed that reuinion concert by years but always wondered if they would reunite again cause they’re one of the few 60’s bands with all members still living
Searched down this great posting, The capper to a Sunday dedicated to the Rascals, starting the day listening to It's a Beautiful Morning, and filling it in as it went along with excellent songs like Groovin, A girl like you, and finishing it with People Got To Be Free. They are essential 60's, going to need to insist at least a couple of these masterpieces are played at my 50th HS reunion this Fall.
Everything,is taped up for less resonance. In that studio ,as it was producers or engineers choice in rehearsal. "Dino": was one of the hardest hittin Drummers around ,yet knew how to control the power. Drummers ,now aint got much clue, He , was an Original in His own right .What a loss...
This must be one of the very last performances by the original line-up. By the time that "Glory Glory" was released on record, both Gene and Eddie had left the group.
Growing up in the 60s and 70s, the Rascals were one of my favorite acts. I never got into Barbara McNair, but always thought she was very beautiful. I gotta say, though, she elevated a relatively weak performance here by the band to a much higher level when she joined in singing.
Can somebody tell me please who was that gorgeous female singing with the rascals I don't know that much about this band but I know some of their songs but who is that gorgeous woman wow😍
Great band , amazing
Dino was out of this world, especially in the early days, yea,my absolute favorite
This aired on October 3, 1970. It's one of the final public appearances of the orignal four Rascals until their induction into the R&R HOF in '97.
🙏
Thank you I was wondering what year this was 👍
My brother bought the greatest hits album when we were in sixth and seventh grade. We played it a million times. All these years later, I still love the Rascals.
Felix is magic!
Coolest guy ever.
Now, THIS is the Rascals !! Anything else purporting to be the same is soooo far off !
Dino the great!
Dino was and always will be my #1 Rock Star
Loved Felix Cavalier, he was a great friend to the incredible Laura Nyro, finding her farm, that she bought in the early 70’s, where she lived till her early death in the 90’s. Oh Happy Day….
Produced , Christmas and Beads of Sweat Album ,also..
Soul Man! Felix ❤
When music was played with real instruments and real voices
Tight as they ever been, beyond the call.
Take me 2 church!
I love these guy’s, always have from day one! 👍👏👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️♥️

Totally agree w/ya!

They should have a bass player, would have sounded a lot more full, you can't even hear the foot pedals here.

Same here Bro!
Not really under rated. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!! I have some of their albums and 45’s. Loved them ever since i was a young teen. They rock!
I love the audience, the Rascals and Barbara McNair are burning the place down and the audience is sitting down with their hands on their chins
Audience is too funny! I'd be dancing in the aisle or dancing w/Eddie!
Firing on all cylinders!
Wow!
I still have all their CD's ❤
Great performance!
Nice transition into “Oh Happy Day”.
One of my all time favorite bands.

My all time fav band. We all tried to cover their stuff back in the day!
Good Lovin’.

GREAT FIND... Have only seen People Got To Be Free from the show.... this a TREAT... Thanks so much!!!!!!!!
great music & memories, top notch band for sure, remarkable performance
good gosh listen to our music we need the 60s back so bad..... come on kids put your cell phone down and get involved
great harmony
Dino Danelli was as good as any 60s/70s drummer!
Dino is my favorite drummer of all time.....just a cool cat behind a drum set and so much fun to watch. Spends his time painting these days from what I've read. Not sure if he even plays anymore.
Top ..Hands ANYWHERE ..
Dino was the BEST!
I have an autographed picture from a club they played in in like 1972

I would love to have all 7 albums. Could only find greatest hits for torrent download.

Somebody please check the pulse of the audience
They gave a loud ovation after each number. How much louder would you like them to applaud?
If I were there, I 'd be on my feet dancing, clapping, stomping! Unlike that audience.
Those were mannequins!
The Walking Dead.

Is that Barbara McNair that comes out and sings on Oh Happy Day?
Yes it is. From her show
Baby a go-go

This is Great! How come there isn't a Rascals DVD out with all of the footage from this era?
it's probably difficult to get the rights.
バーバラは、女優や人気歌手だった。彼女のテレビ番組では、3年間のために走った。この性能は、オリジナルの4ラスカルズを特色に最後のものの一つだった。
平和。
Cool!
Bravo🥁🎷🎸🎶❤️
R.I.P. Dino Danelli the first, great rock drummer ever! (I wonder why his bass drum was so fully covered?)
Dino loved that booming bass drum sound. I'm sure blanket was there to muffle it. R.I.P. Dino Danelli...I still can't believe it 😞

Good grief I think they were playing in front of dead people. How could they sit there and not even tap a foot.
Who needs a bass player??? :-)
This must be one of the very last performances by the original line-up. By the time that "Glory Glory" was released on record, both Gene and Eddie had left the group.
How do members of the audience sit still during this performance?
Some of them were probably stoned. From Ms. Harper Stacey.

Barbara had a nice voice but never made it real big. ruclips.net/video/LnDMsnta3ck/видео.html
Freaky man. didn't know meathead was in the band playing guitar
Hmm 🤔. Looks like there’s a blanket covering the bass drum?
Awesome can’t believe I didn’t listen to this earlier they’re really great
I didn't know Charles Manson was in that band.
1970 ?
Steven fox small faces great band rock stars the rescles out of thes love peace what is the rescals
was there a bassist?
Felix Cavaliere uses the Hammond B3 foot bass pedals and also left hand bass lines.
Is that Dino on drums?? It doesn't look like him, or his style of rhythmic jerky movements when he plays.
What a dead audience! Didn't they know they were listening and watching legends??
I think those were mannequins!
Can somebody tell me please who was that gorgeous female singing with the rascals I don't know that much about this band but I know some of their songs but who is that gorgeous woman wow😍
Farah Fawcett...duh!
