I hear different versions of this message from almost every corner of phycology. Western thinking is almost exclusively focused on 'doing'. Where other , say eastern thought, focuses on 'being', or character. Remember 'Be Here Now'? We have created a whole foundation of getting the material part of life covered. For everybody, if we choose to. While ignoring the personal part of existence. The 2 are not exclusive of each other . I hope the one is catching up with the other. I suspect that is what underlies 'The culture' war in The US. I hope that this side prevails over the groupthink version of western religion asserting itself so loudly. To simply be here now is so absent from life that people are not even connecting with anybody. This is not good. A terrible loss I believe.
