10,000 BC is in my opinion one of those movies that deserves better than what it was given. I honestly think of this as a feature length big budget version of Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal. The landscapes are beautiful, the CGI on the prehistoric megafauna still looks good after all these years, and the mishmash of elements from different time periods makes it unique. A lot of people consider this one of the worst films ever made to which I say “Really? THIS is one of the worst? Go watch Master of Disguise and then get back to me about this one. I can also give Roland Emmerich more credit for trying something other than an explosive disaster flick. This movie deserves more love.
It's very unlikely that a mammoth would be able to gallop like that. Elephants only have two gaits, and that's a walk, and basically a shuffling/ running sort of walk (still reaching up to about 25 mph, though.) They can't even jump a foot off the ground. Their bodies are incapable of it.
Not to mention they made those mammoths far larger than they actually were. According to the fossil record woolly mammoths weren't much bigger than elephants.
They WERE BIGGER than elephants. These would be the steppe mammoths(but they are fudging with the hairy legs) & they depicted them building the pyramids as the pyramids were constructed while these creatures existed. Were they used in construction.(Only movies)Oversized Sabre tooth.Fantasy ending. Chick died.
Back in the days when you'd be lucky to have One main meal a day let alone three main meals plus four mini-meals/snacking . Intermittent fasting/alternate day fasting was a way of life back then.
I never knew the first mission from far cry primal was so heavily inspired by this movie. This is crazy literally they have white paint just like the wenja and on top of that they are hunting a mammoth and they are sneaking past them just like primal.
MAYO MASTER you can’t deny the similarities. I’m pretty sure they took some aspects from the film and just slapped them into their game. Literally you’ll know what I’m talking about if you played the game. Go look up the intro mission.
Okay, I’m pretty sure mammoths cannot gallop, judging how elephants, today, run. Also I’m impressed how 1 man is able to cause a stampede. And kids, this is why you should try and work as a team. If you and others work together, helping each other out in a problem, then the job will get done much easier, rather than try and do something by yourself, otherwise you’ll struggle because there are too many tasks to do and you’ll might not get things done in time.
Yeah. Elephants can move faster than a human, but they don't gallop like this. They're too big. They can't jump like this with a spring in their step.(mammoths are in elephant family)
@@viperwolf2416 Considering it's 10000 bc, coming close to the end of the Stone Age, a lot of prehistoric mammals have become extinct either thanks to the humans, or because of the climate changes. Mammoths and Smilidons and Terror Birds are still around as we can see, but not as many as there used to be. And a lot of the animals are now just fully evolved normal animals, like Gazelles and Antelopes and stuff. Unfortunately for Sid's species, the Megatheriums, (Giant Ground Sloths). I think they would have become extinct at this point.
People today complain when there is a line at the grocery store, or when breakfast stops at 10:30 am. This is what humanity did for food for the majority of our history! Granted it wasn’t always Mammoth. But every scrap of meat you ever got was obtained through hunting where you were in real danger.
Killing mammoths with spears and arrows is probably not entirely true. Mammoths were herded towards a cliff with flaming torches until they would slip and fall. In hindsight, large rocks were thrown at them to kill them (similar to a scene from Ice Age). At least that's what we were shown in a film in history class.
Polar bears also use that trick, in summer, because they can't hunt their usual prey (seals), they sometimes resort to scaring walruses into commiting suicide, and they get a huge amount of food to withstand the next 6 months of summer
That’s false, I think. Scientists and drawing show/say that they made one enter a pit, and then threw spears and other weapons at the mammoth to kill it.

While this scene is pretty cool, I doubt human back then were able to make net strong enough to stop a friggin mamoth in its course, nor use a complex system of couterweight like that. In fact (or at least, our best guesses) they used persistence hunting, separating an animal from the group, and then just running it down, and killing it after it was too tired to continue. They probably wouldn't get as close tho, and use fire to scare them, not just a spear, lol (that guy would have gotten so trampled irl)
ant man No, but we have that stuff called science critical thinking, and archeology... For persistence hunting, we know because some tribes still do it in Africa (not on ammoth, of course, but antilope, etc) and analysis seems to indicate we evolved for that (we ar eone of the most endurant animal when it comes down to running)
ant man I never claimed it was proof, I'm the one who doubted the realism of this version and gave arguments... Why complicate your task with a trap that complex, when you could just corner an aniaml near a cliff or run it down ? If you really want to lead him to one place, and keep him her,e you can use fire. Also, you just need to look at Hollywood records for historical accuracy to doubt this. I've researched it a bit, and saw plenty of people saying this movie was bad for that. Anthropologist, archeologist, history students, etc.
ant man we have no evidence at all that primitive man could do this. No artefacts, in fact the most advanced piece of kit we have from that time was probably a spear with a flint tip.

Prehistoric people speaking modern day English. Movie logic at its finest.
The alternative is create an entirely fictional language
I'm still questioning my self....... How did they know how to make a baby or something like that...........
And they are supposed to speak their original tribal language so we all can understand them, right?
Considering that the movie Apocalypto did not use English speech, I think tribal dialects can work for movies.
