Why is good dog food expensive?
If you pay someone to make the food for you, it will cost more, and for dog food businesses to keep their costs low, they often reduce the quality of the ingredients in their meals. Sometimes to a level that could be considered as very healthy for dogs, if not dangerous.
I always try to encourage dog owners to learn about nutrition, as it's arguably the most important tool in keeping their dog healthy, out of the vets and alive longer.

Hello great info thank you. We just rescued a toy poodle so they say. His hair isn’t curly. But my question is he is 13 weeks old I gave him a raw drum stick-chicken bones . He really loved it. How many can he eat? I gave him half of 2 bones. I wasn’t sure if it would upset his stomach? What do recommend for a 3 pound puppy to eat ? 🐾🐾

Hi. I have a 1 1/2 border collie mix and I’m on my 2nd bag of canidae, which I thought was good. I can’t afford to do a raw diet but is there a good dry kibble you recommend for dogs?

You don't have to go full raw, just try to add fresh foods to whatever kibble you buy. Whether that's meat, organ, fish, raw eggs, grated veggies, berries. The point is that fresh food must be included on some level in your dog's diet.

I would like to start making my own dog food for my Australian Cattle Dog. I am currently feeding him BLue Buffalo Wilderness line (high protein) and he's doing well on it, but lately I've noticed him not running to eat like he used to - I think they're changed the ingredients for cheaper. Could you recommend a vitamin and mineral supplement powder that I could add to my dog food? I was going to go to the local butcher and buy bone and meat scraps. So with 40% meat and 20% sweet potato and squash, what other ingredients would you use for the other 20%?

I had my dogs on Acana for the past 4 years and just switched, they started getting stomach issues and something changed obviously.
