Potentially the best ever cover of this song.
EVER, EVER, AND EVER!!!!
@@whiteninja9481 exactly
best cover I've seen. It's on a diff level.
The drummer made the difference 😂
Speechless
Portnoy confirms his status as one of the world's premier rock drummers!
Was that ever in question 😁
That position was solidified in around 1994 after the DT had Day and Dream Unite, Images And Words and most recently Awake.
Never under discussion@@pitpride1220
@ScottScottMartin87 Awake's drumming is simply out of this world.
As only a legend like Mike Portnoy can pay homage to another legend Neil Peart- 🥁🙏
This! 👆
I have to disagree. I love Mike and I am sure he didn't even have to practice or review the tabs to this beforehand to perform with YYNOT this show, mostly because he is that talented on the fly, but with that said pretty much every official YYNOT drummer has had the song down with 100% accuracy to the original, played perfectly in honor of Neil, so I would actually give them even more credit for putting in the work if we are talking about putting in that dedication and I don't see how one could imply that they couldn't do the song justice but Mike could. I still enjoy Mike's interpretation, but to me it's pretty obvious he didn't spend a lot of time learning Neil's fine details for the track.
This guy does though

Portnoy don't made a Cover but a Tribute.@@StickHits
@@jacquesfinster5034 Excuses, excuses, excuses...
This really makes YYNOT legit.
Lifelong Rush fan here... That was fucking epic!! Portnoy's expression at the end said it all. Thank you.
WOW. Just WOW. For die-hard RUSH fans and musicians, this song is sacred...we don't cover it because we can't do it justice. These guys just threw that dynamic out the window. When you close your eyes, you're listening to vintage Neil, Alex and Geddy.
Well, likely as close as we're ever going to get...
Portnoy nails it!
@@The_Reality_Filter Tim is the one holding the whole thing together - just like Geddy. To me he's the star.
Let’s not discount that excellent guitarist! 🔥
Probably one of the best covers of this song!!! Mike Portnoy is a beast!!!
MP was the only one I thought could fill NP's shoes in the band. Proved it that night.
Cannot believe I did not know this concert was happening ...thank you whoever got such a great recording
I'd say THE best cover..Rush 2.0!
Talk about an incredibly complex and powerful song, honestly I can’t imagine anyone doing a better cover than YYNOT. I really need to see these guys perform live!
New World Men do a great job. Pretty incredible the number of excellent Rush tribute bands out there.
Just saw YYNOT a couple of nights ago! If you are able to see them, do it!!
Щ
Primus does a really good rendition
@@ColonelSandurz thanks, I’ll try to find the Primus version. I like their music too!
I learned that on bass when I was 15. I’m 60 now. Still love that song. Still feel like 15 in many ways
I was 16 when this album came out... These guys are the same age as me... Lifeson, Lee and Peart are both mine and their hero's... This is nothing short of amazing... I spent weeks learning to play this song on guitar. This is 9:02 of guys emulating their hero's... I wish I could have done the same.
No other cover comes close.
@t!!! I'm at work...YYNOT upload notification...work is now on hold for 9 minutes. 😅🤣😂That's what they call WORK LIFE BALANCE right? OK, I didn't take lunch, it's all good.
Professional musicians all the way. That was phenomenal.
Holy crap!! Hey guys!! That's Mike Portnoy on drums!!
Great guitar work!
Bass is solid and Portnoy? Well, he was born to take over for Neil
Not sure if anyone understands Alex and Geddy as much as Billy and Tim. Mike is pretty good too. 😂😂
One of the best prog rock drummers covering one of the best prog rock drummers. This was a good idea. 👍
when YT dumped a commercial right in the middle of this, on me. I died a little inside 😢
yeah I cranked it back just to hear the the Buddy Rich snare part uninterrupted.
Goddam! In my 45 years as a Rush fan, this has to rank up there with one of the top performances of this song. The spirit of Rush lives forever.
Portnoy and the ultimate RUSH cover band! Perfect!!!
Did you see that huge grin on Neil’s face while looking down upon this masterful performance? EPIC boys!!
shivers down the spine. utterly superb.
Guitarist stole the show!!
One of the few bands, and drummers, that could due La Villa true justice!
Exhausting just watching it...... Mike said it is one of the hardest songs he's ever played. Mentally and physically
Tim is such a badass on this. He was just amazing on The Camera Eye also!!!!!
The best and closest reproduction of a classic rush song ever...way to go boys canadas proud...
So much talent on display here, we know Portnoy can rumble, but holy hell BILLY, and Tim you are so solid and in time, it's a credit the music, not just the original artists!
Outstanding all around. I think Alex would be proud of the guitar work on this. He nailed it!!. One of my fav tracks from Rush.
Wow, that was AMAZING 👏🔥🔥🔥 Bring this to Australia 🇦🇺
I like how they added there little styles in there ....sounds good 😊😊😊😊
THE best cover I have ever heard. I’ve heard a lot of attempts.😊 The BEST part? I was there! Took days to come down!
Love Love Love
Spectacular!!! Mike Portnoy is one of the GOAT prog drummers ever! What a beast!🔥🔥🔥🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Came back to watch this after Dream Theater announced that Mike was reuniting with the band, more excited about that after watching the first few minutes of this.
This MPs performance is to be studied in every rock academy, feeling with energy and power, but always so musical. He´s in other level of playing with feeling.
It seems to me like Portnoy is playing the Exit Stage Left version of this song. Actually, they all are. You probably all knew that…
That was awesome
No question Neil would approve of this performance. And omfg does Mike look happy and in his element.
Never heard of YYNOT till stumbling to a few of their videos tonight.
Love quality cover bands. So very needed in this day and age with so many of the past greats no longer being with us.
Reminds me of discovering Close To the Yes covering Close to the Edge. LOVE IT!!!
3 original albums out as well maybe you'll stumble across :)
@@YYNOT I will try and give em a listen. Youll have to give me a pass assuming you were a cover band. With the name YYNOT and being a rush fan, its a natural conclusion. And I wasnt blowing smoke about having major respect for quality cover bands. Im personally in the camp Id rather see an amazing cover band than the real thing if their sound is CLEARLY passed its prime. But thats just me. Keep up the great work!
This is arguably the greatest Rush cover ever and I'm hella confident there's no recency bias!
WOW! Goosebumps, chills and hairs standing. Only Portnoy can really match Mr Peart. This is an amazing cover.
Gotta admit... that was pretty cool, Gentlemen !!!
Bästa ❤...Hej från Sverige.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yep, these guys fuckin crushed this song. Best cover I've heard of this, they pulverized it!! Awesome!!
Peace from California!!
"Never turn your back on a monster..." 😁 Splendid stuff, chaps.
Gentlemen!!! You by far are THE BEST Rush Tribute Band Ever🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻, and to Patty, your voice lends the perfect Magic this band Brings. I Am most definitely a huge fan.
I was in another room when this came on......I thought that I was listening to Rush! This is @#&$ing AMAZING!🤘🏻🍻
Probably the best cover of any song I've ever heard. That's an extremely difficult song with a lot of nuance and everyone nailed it. Amazing!
Mike Portnoy and the band are amazing!
Mike just qualified to sub-in for NP in the upcoming return of RUSH. Rush 4Ever!
No one will ever be able to beat this cover in a million yrs.. this is hands down the best cover of this song I've ever heard in my life man.. so good.. and mike portnoy absolutely killed it.. just wow.. 🤘🤘
Omg, that was incredible.
MP should get in contact with Geddy and Alex and tour as Rush 2.0.
They have already decided that will not happen.
Loved Portnoy’s adrenaline version! Snare had pop!…although Mike could probably make a $10 snare sound expensive! Tim and Billy were locked in (as usual) and had no trouble matching Mike’s blistering pace! That was very kewl guys, just amazing…looked like you all had a blast that evening. Perhaps you make it an annual gig! Or maybe a different charity next year…🤔😉
Everyone who respected Neil or loved Rush, is doing something every year on January 7, to some degree.
A to B,
different degrees!
Mike doing this was such a heartfelt and classy thing to do. What a treat for us all.
so true!.
Mike, just thanking you. You fkn slayed that! My sad little Canuck heart felt like I needed to stand at attention.
Just Wow! Thank you for bearing the torch of keeping live Rush music alive. And absolutely love your original stuff too!
Blown away by the virtuosity and synergy of this band! Amazing!
Simply fabulous…All three of you smashing it out of the park!
Oh yeah..!
That was a masterpiece performance! Thank you for sharing it with us 🤩
Spot on! If you have ever seen Portnoy talking about the benchmark Rush song to play on drums, he says Strangiato, and of course he plays it perfectly! Props to the YYNOT guys as, as usual, they are spot on as well!
Love that song! You nailed it! The Professor would be proud.
wtf did I just watch? chills & tears. what a superb performance.
I christened my Klipsch Cornwall Ii's in 1986 with La Villa!
My Goodness!
Incredible as always!... Awesome to see Portnoy on drums. Keep it up guys.
You can really see Mike's respect and admiration for Neil at the end when he salutes the Maestro up in heaven.
Takes big balls to cover RUSH songs...well done !
Hey, that drummer is kind of good eh. He may have a bright future........😜
AWESOME!!!😀
Amazing guys! Truly the best cover ever!
Hats off to Billy... and Tim and Mike...
Wow very impressive Rush lives
Well done!!! Everyone is on their game and it sounds fantastic!!! Couldn't stop smiling, KICK ASS!!!
That was an emotional experience. Really, exceptional 👏 ❤
Portnoy’s additions are spot on, and don’t take anything away, brilliant, thank you.
That was just STUNNING! Thank you from a lifelong Rush fan.
To echo others, just a fantastic rendition of this song. With apologies to YYZ and other Rush instrumentals, this is no doubt my favorite and to say you did it justice is an understatement.
Thank god for youtube or most of us would never know this performance existed.
Tim you nailed Ged's tone and Moog sounds!!
Tim is a beast!
Such a joy to listen to, really warms my heart. Thank you.
The audience was entranced, as was I. Not a peep out of them during the song. I have so much respect for these guys. Thank you for keeping Rush's music alive and kicking.
come out to Toronto please and thank you... great cover as always :)
Wow! Portnoy for the win here!! Love it.
this is my favorite thing
Love the sound of that bass !
Watching these drummers play I can tell by their drumming how excited they are to play this stuff. Portnoy and the other dude are playing so on top of the beat to where it sounds like they’re rushing, but they’re not. Think how awesome Peart was to have such drummers idolize and respect him the way they do. Neil is smiling somewhere knowing he left a mark on so many people.
Wow !!!
Damn!
When you hear a performance such as this, you realize that it wasn't just the magic of RUSH. This is a composition that is the equal to any heralded composition from the Classical period.
Absolutely Amazing!!!!
We almost decided not to make the 8 hour drive but this is a great reason why we did! I'm still in awe of the talent that showed up to pay Tribute to Neil. I felt him there in spirit for sure! Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to honor our beloved Professor...
Outstanding performance 👍👍
Let's face it, if there's anyone obvious to do Peart justice it's Mike, innit?
100%!!!!
What did I just witness!!??
Got no words!
Outstanding cover! If just listening you would think this was Rush.
I want that Neil Peart jersey.
If I closed my eyes I would swear this was the actual RUSH
JAW DROPPING mastery!
