Caved, sold some stuff, and bought the combo. No regrets. This thing is the best overall amp I’ve owned or played. It’s the Marshall sounds I had in my head, at nearly any volume. Just perfect.

Hands down the magical combination is the Nash through the Greenbacks when you first plugged in. I was like Holy s#@t!!! That's the tone my brother! Wow!
26:46 I haven't used a distortion pedal or any type of gain pedal since the late 80's when I realized nothing beats the sound of a good guitar straight into a good amp. When I played in metal bands, I used a Marshall or a Boogie with no effects, just a pre-amp on my guitar for a little extra punch and sustain for leads. Even that was unnecessary though. Want great fat tones? Get them from your fingers, guitar and amp (most of it comes from your own fingers, can't stress that enough).
Hey, Brett. How are you using your two Ox boxes? Are you using them with two amps at once? I have one, but I'm thinking about buying a second to complete my stereo rig. I emailed UA and they couldn't confirm that I wouldn't have latency/phase issues between two amps at once. If you've tried this, what's your experience? Great playing, and tones!

The BTR23 or RSA23 is my favorite amp ever. Will probably always be my number 1. That being said they are totally different and for higher gain and the hard rock thing Friedman's are pretty tough beat.

I have had a DS40 for a few years, hands down my favorite amp ever.. but this one.. arg. Two channels that can be dialed into just about whatever you want is simply brilliant. Every channel switcher I have had has had me loving one channel and the other one or two not so much. The DS has such a huge range of tones available. I will be getting one Great playing and tone. I take it you have a treble bleed on the Nash? Do you know what you have in there?

Brett, I kow they all sound great, but between the twin Sisters and the Smallbox, which sounds best? If you had to keep only one, which one would you choose?
They are based on different circuits so its not really that easy to say. I liked the Small Box better in a live situation. If I had to pick on Friedman amp it would be the Jake E Lee head. You basically get a 100 watt plexi and a 100 watt JCM800.

Funny thing. This Friedman sounds absolutely amazing. But in another video you used that P90 Les Paul with the Divided by Thirteen amp, and that blew me away even more. How would you say the two compare?
Friedman really nails that classic and hard rock Marshall type circuit where the Divided by 13 is really its own thing. It's a little more hifi and open sounding. Can't go wrong with either.
Get the Twin Sister. Low sens nob isn't needed when you have both channels of the Twin Sister. Usually you just get lower gain amounts with the low senc jacks.
You can get them pretty close. Small Box is based on a different type of Marshall but they both do a great classic rock to hard rock spread. Cant go wrong with either. I's say out of the Friedman line up the Twin sister has more of its own space. Great amp!!

I hear you playing through the OX, and I assume what we are hearing is direct from the OX/computer. Is that correct? Are you just listening through monitors or the computer? I usually use headphones with the OX, so I just curious.
Yeah I have it going through monitors so I can hear it however the volume is very low. What you are hearing is what was recorded in Logic on my computer.
No but I do run it through the Neve pre with no EQ. Truth be told I'm really not that great with all of that stuff. I just like to plug in and go. Apollo is more for all the other mics and lavs for the videos and so I can plug in multiple guitars for interviews.

Even when using a scooped setting for metal, it's best to boost your mids as soon as you're playing with a band. Doing this makes the guitar cut through the mix and works far better than just cranking the volume since boosting the mids cuts through the mix instead of just increasing the volume of what is actually a real problem. And that's the most common type of _non-mids_ setting I know of, and still the mids are a must for definition.
Sounds a bit better with the Lollars but I guess cause I almost never use reverb with my mini DS I’m not into the verb. Hey at least I’m still not tempted by an Ox thank god. That’s not at all a bad thing. I’d rather put that kind of money into a R121 ribbon. I’m not a fan of the DI recordings. Sounds... plastic? Thin. I’m sure RUclips compression is part of the story, hell maybe all of it. I have a TS combo on order. Was very glad to hear you feel it’s actually even better than a Shirley! Thanks Brett!
I own it. That ox or whatever it’s called is a far cry from the amp played through SPEAKERS. Sorry but this techno mumbo jumbo has no grasp of the organic tones the amp provides. Get a 2X12 birch cabinet and greenbacks, cream backs, golds whatever and you will know what it really sounds like

Lol! All good. To each his own. I use this setup because it works for what I do.
It is more focus than DS. TS leans a little more JMPish or SS Rectified. DS sounds more JTM45.

Yeah I have a lav and a shotgun. I use more of the lav though. Shotgun helps but is more of a backup.

I would say the Twin Sister do to the fact that is has power tubes as well probably sounds bigger and warmer.
