    Max is the consistency of Lewis, the dedication of Schumacher, the passion for racing of Alonso, the technical knowledge of Prost plus the speed and ruthlessness of Senna, all combined into a pureblood racer that, like Raikkonnen, doesn't give a sh*t about anything else but racing.

      You are not entirely correct, we know Lewis had the talent, he beat the current two-time world champion in his rookie year, a driver still highly respected now. He was also very unlucky not to win that year and 2 very fast teams had a chance to win races and it was a significantly closer field. Lewis did not have a car built to suit him and a subservient 2nd driver like Max has had since Riccardo left.
      Lewis went to Mercedes where Roberg was a resident driver, who had beaten Michael Schumacher (someone who does have a claim to be the GOAT) his teammate. So to downplay his talent is not correct. in 2016 Mercedes took all of Lewis support team and gave them to Rosberg. Lewis only lost that due to an engine failure in Malaysia, he had a better points-to-race finish ratio than Roseberg. Rosberg retired straight away due to the pressure of driving against Lewis. Even Max said he would not want the pressure of 2021 again. Bottas was not terrible I would rate him as good as Perez. Max has never had a partner who could be regarded as great or was a world champion either. Nor has he had any competition from a partner since DR (who he never beat over a season) as he has had full no1 status and a car and team built around him only.
      I was at the Singapore GP in 2022 when Sergio beat Max and that was because Max had dropped to 8th with a penalty and then 12th in the first lap with a poor start. Max was less than impressive that day in the fastest car on the grid so Sergio was allowed to win. If they were 1/2 Sergio would have been told to switch as we have clearly seen before. Sergio has won 4 races by the way, Monoco and Singapore in 2022 and Baku and Azerbaijan in 2023.

      @@colinwilby8803 I don't downplay the qualities of Lewis. The names in my original post are the names of my greats that I've seen racing and Lewis is for sure one of those. And one of the strong points of Lewis is his consistency, maybe not win every race like Max does now, but he is always there or there abouts. In my opinion though Senna was more talented and Max as well, but Max has that consistency of Lewis as well, something Senna didn't have. That's the point with Max, he has the complete package.
      But that seems the issue with Lewis fans, no matter how positive you think about Lewis, if you dare praise any other driver having better certain qualities than Lewis, well be prepared for team LH.

In the first example there are so many permutations that could have happened, between that race and the end of the season to assess within any degree of certainty what the race result would have been. In Abu Dhabi, the race and the championship was already won when the rule changes to fix the race were made. So all that was needed here is were the rules changed and that was clear at the moment Masi made his illegal decision, for anyone who has watched F1 for a few years. The thing that convinced me he was a unmatched talent was when he went from direct drive to shifter karts (KZ, KZ1, and KZ2). Shifter karts require a completely different driving style to direct drive. Normally, it takes super talented drivers a couple of years to adapt and get competitive. In his first full year in shifters, Max won the FIA European Championship in KZ, the WSK Euro Series in KZ1, the WSK Master Series in KZ2, and the FIA World Championship in KZ -- all while also racing full time and winning championships in KF (direct drive).

It's exactly what MSC, Vettel and Hamilton have done in the past, but somehow back then it wasn't "history in the making" and it was "all thanks to the car".
      In a way, the current situation is also a disservice to Max - he might win 200 races and 15 championships like this, but still nobody would know how he'd actually perform under massive pressure and "make or break" situations. It's very easy for a top level driver to make no mistakes when you actually don't really have to push. The few times he's been under pressure in the past, more often than not it ended in tears, with the '21 final lap move being the odd exception; It would be very interesting to see how much, if at all, he's matured as a multiple World Champion.

    So long as RB don't give him a lemon, he will win every Championship until he retires, which he will likely do after 8-10 championships. Then again it IS Max Verstappen and he may well choose to snag 15 before he calls it quits. It doesn't matter who the other driver is in the other RB either, he will beat them just like he has everyone else. It's hard to say whether he will decide to retire on the top of his game though, he may be so obsessed that he continues to race well into his 40s, which isn't a problem at all...but personally I'd like to see him win at least 7 championships, most hopefully an even 10, and then call it quits. He will go down as the greatest driver in F1 history even if he doesn't win more than 7. His ability to overperform every machine he's given is unmatched and says more about his talent and skills than the number of championships ever could (as they are dependant on having at least one of the top 3 cars and nowadays the FIA seems hell bent on doing everything they can to slow down the dominate drivers). But so long as he's given a truly competitive car he will win.

    Finally an acurrate take on Verstappen, great video.
    I think the reality is the pool of talented racing drivers is tiny. Max had a huge advantage being raised in such a way by his dad, but then also his dedication to the sim world, which is important because as I say, the pool of talent in the real world is small, but the pool of talent in sim is huge and so actually, the calibre in general is much higher than F1.
    I think max was the first of the “sim gen” to dominate f1, and probably, only a sim gen driver could top him. I know Norris, Sainz, Leclerc, Piastri, etc, these guys know this, but even as talented as they are, max is racing with people I’d argue are more talented in the virtual world. Put them in real cars, might be a different story, but the principle of racing is the same.

    • @ovidiudiumea4012
      @ovidiudiumea4012 22 дня назад

      I disagree. Sim-racing and real-world racing are different disciplines. Sure, many aspects overlap, but they are still different. A lot of simracers have been given a shot at real-world racing and some have done a really good job, but very few have actually risen to compete with the top pros.

    • @justamanchimp
      @justamanchimp 22 дня назад

      @@ovidiudiumea4012 Yeah true, but it's probably because of money. Obvs even super talented sim guys still need to learn irl skills, it will of course take a few years to get up to scratch, and that's probably not feasible unless they have the sponsorship.
      There are loads of insanely talented Karters for example, but barely any of them actually make it into single seaters.
      I think the principle of what I'm saying is true, especially if you're already an irl driver going into sim, the advantages are huge. A guy who only drives in sim and not irl is going to lack quite a few things, most importantly the fear factor aspect of it, but then the sensation of speed and weight transfer are of course different. I have raced fast cars irl and sim race all the time, I can see the flaws of sim racing, but I also see that it's taking mediocre irl drivers to new heights simply because they get to practice so much more.

    • @svace4855

      @@ovidiudiumea4012 you can think of simracing as an aid in developing racing skills, obviously you need experience in real cars to do well but those who race In their cars AND also race in simulators will have a edge over those that only practice in a real car.

    Max is clearly the best driver this century. Even a prime Schumacher, Senna or Prost wouldn’t beat him if they were on the grid in 2024. But if Max went back in time to the mid-90s to race against prime Schumacher or the late 80s to race against prime Senna, would he beat them? Don’t know! The cars were more unstable so it’s a tough call. Undoubtedly he could challenge them, but the telemetry doesn’t lie and Senna and Schumacher did some mighty impressive things behind the wheel. Cars today are so much more balanced that - as Prost says - the challenge today is not primarily about survival, but finding those extra 2 tenths over your teammate, and doing it consistently.
