This video really makes you FEEL like you're Tim Henson. Edit: it's hilarious that you can still tell he's doing his signature head bopping from the camera movements haha
I actually got it down around 75% speed in the easier parts and like 45% speed for the rest. This song alone has improved my guitar playing so much. My new practice routines include just polyphia songs. No better practice for accurately hopping all over the fretboard
It's a bit of a flex, but it's also true. I'm working on the GOAT riff, and it has that gradual escalation of difficulty that makes for a really good etude.
I got a question. Did you learn any other tutorials or methods before trying this out? if i were to say my level im pretty intermediate, struggle a bit with barre chords on acoustic and no nothing of scales on the fretboard besides pentatonic (a bit). should i know more or it doesnt matter. what was your routine before this?
@@BeatsShay I bet you can try to learn it, I learned the main riff on my accoustic guitar (folk) while being intermediate too, and, actually, the first comment is right, my guitar playing really evolved since I learned this riff (I also learned GOAT, The Worst, the feat with No Trust, and lalala, again just the main riff)
@@BeatsShay I'd recommend learning hybrid picking. A lot of their riffs use this technique and it is something I wished i started practicing sooner. I'm actually in the process of relearning how to pick because a lot of their songs were impossible with the way I had originally played
Some of these chord shapes are wild. And you just chop across like 10 of them in a matter of a few seconds. Crazy stuff. Thanks for uploading this. Very cool to see it from a guitarist's angle.
I think the most interesting part of this for me was getting to see Tim's thumb placement. Something we so rarely get to see on any guitar videos, but is so important.
This is massively helpful in understanding what you're doing Tim, I absolutely appreciate you being so open with your technique. A lot of artists like to keep this sort of thing "secret", you're a special individual. Kudos.
Tim Henson nails it with classical guitar. His finger skills are spot-on. The musical piece has a ton of details; it's really fascinating, like a work of art. I'm tackling it step by step. It's a fun process but also a pretty intense training journey.
02:43 is where the madness really begins. watching the usual angle it looks hard, but looking from this angle it looks near impossible at that speed, my fingers were already feeling like spaghetti knotts

This really helps me in learning the song perfecting the syncopation on the faster bits. Almost there! Those last few runs are insane with the hammer ons and pull offs are insane. Your playing is so clean, props to you man, such an inspiration
Just got my first guitar, more PoV shots are really appreciated, first time actually seeing someone do this and it helps so much just imagining each move that comes next.
I think it is so awesome that at some parts during the song (such as 2:38) he not only picks the strings but also finger picks it too. Tim, you're amazing haha
Yeah hybrid picking is a massive part of his technique. It's actually not too difficult to learn but it's crazy useful for people who prefer to use picks. I never could switch between pick and finger reliably without dropping the pick or holding it weird etc. and having a huge delay when switching. Hybrid picking solves that perfectly.
This is crazy how this sounds... I have no problem with post processing, effects, it totally belongs to making good sound and good music... but achieving this on a acoustic guitar... speechless
This really made me grasp How Insane this song is. I noticed so many notes and details I usually don't, Tim you are the best Guitarist of this Generation.
