Self compassion tends to help too. Instead of feeling like a victim of emotions or angry at ourselves for feeling a certain way treating yourself as if it was a person you care about makes a good difference!

Yes !!!!!! Thank you for not being like everyone else and saying that we CHOOSE how we feel. We choose our emotions and circumstances as much as we choose who we are born too.

That's wrong. New neuro science is showing we create our emotions, they aren't a thing that happens to us.

@@dannyperez1604? How do we even create emotions? Unless it's an act it's a physical manifestation of sensations. And some people can't feel all emotions because of long-term trauma. Or the opposite, they can't regulate them, again, maybe due to trauma and so they go off

I agree as I've done the work to better myself and my emotions. The body's feels what it does, the brain tells you why you feel that way, the brain is normally wrong as it comes from the flight and flight response. I don't trust the inner voice, it always want me to be safe and comfortable, that's no way to live. Anxiety and excitement are the same chemical response within our body, it's our brains that tell us which one. Practising mindfulness and kindness to oneself is the beginning to a better understanding of how we feel why and what we can do about it. Emotional maturity takes practice and time.

THis is not needed to be heard when a person is starting out trying to deal with emotions. I recauses a feeling of blame. It can be introduced after the acceptance has started

What if there IS a reason to feel sad or anxious? What if SOMEONE is doing SOMETHING that makes you feel sad or anxious or angry? And what if you want to STOP feeling anxious or sad? Accepting and validating does not help at all because you want the other person to stop doing what makes you feel bad because you want to feel good again.

I think, first figure out what is your reason. And think about it. In this case we have 2 point. Feelings and reality(reason). Feelings are temporary, remember this. And look what is reality. It is your reason. Think, can you change this reason, or can't you control. If you can't change remmeber you dont have control in this think. But if you can change, think about how you can change. Make plan, but the point is take action. If you stay in the movement this is good for you. I hope i will help you. English is not my first language, i am learning now.

And i should say this, if anyone makes you feel anxios or sad, you have leave or accept and dont care. I know this is hard because sometimes we can't leave any situations, we must. In this case only way is accept this situation. And learn how to get the better of. We can meet the people makes us sad everywere. In school, work or friends.

I enjoy your videos very much and am looking for the answer to my own question . I am 65 years old and consider my self to have been successful in life . I have a 32 year old daughter whose behavior has become intolerable in the past 7 years . She confesses that she has depression but refuses to visit a counselor . I am very worried about her and feel helpless . She blames me , my Ex wife and our entourage for putting her in this situation and can not put the past behind her . She is a very sweet person but sometimes she becomes very agitated is looking for an opportunity to start her blaming game . I always believed that giving her attention and love is going to one day stop her depression but there is so much i can sacrifice without getting hurt myself . Is she a narcissist ? How can i help her ?

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. It is difficult when someone we care about refuses help. Often all we can do for them is encourage open and honest communication, expressing our love and concern, and letting them know that we are there to support them in anyway we can, including helping them seek professional help once they're ready.
In the meantime, as we continue to be a source of love and understanding, we need to remember to take care of our own well-being. It can be challenging to witness a loved one's struggle, and it's important to set boundaries to protect ourselves emotionally. If you believe it would be beneficial, you may consider consulting with a mental health professional yourself to seek insights and guidance tailored to your specific situation.

Thank you for your kind reply . It is a very difficult situation . In my opinion , it is best to be as logical as possible and keep our emotions as far away as we can . This is of course easier said than done . I have been trying to discover her mood swings pattern and also avoid any possible provocative statements . I am also practicing to keep silent when her sudden blaming punches are coming at me . Do you think that may work ?
