I was going to say and no wind but I think being forced to land in one direction would have made it easier, because it would force him to fly patterns, which he hasn't thought of yet because there's no wind
@@better.better I am not even sure if it's easier to Fly patterns, but probably. These Kind of games usually dont reward realistic inbound sequencing due to lack of speed control and everything being at the same altitude
I'm watching this as a student pilot and i'm like "but wait casually switching runway directions like that come on dude, think about the wind...oh yeah, there's no wind 🤷🏻♂"
I was also going to add that SIDS/STARS also don't exist in the game, but greatly assist in real world ATC. There's no way that an approach controller would have to vector every single approach and departure
Having a hold waypoint allows you to essentially stall an airplane without having to think about it. Always good to keep a traffic paternity for backup.
and that's why you need holding points. though to be fair i don't know how many planes can be stacked on holding points. seems kinda useless if the circle is too small
@@takumi2023 The "holding pattern" is just a circle (no 3rd dimension) you can direct the planes onto and they enter it as blindly as they fly into everything. If you really time it well you can probably put 5 planes on it, but that's already pushing it.
@@takumi2023I’ve got 3 planes pretty easy, but I found I just put 2 holding areas on the map opposite corners only need 1-2 planes in each to organize well around 120 points
FYI, the devs have been in contact with dino poloclub and have agreed to change the name and change some of the graphics. The game was originally made for a gamejam.
I think that it would be fun to add a fuel timer on the grey/incoming planes so they have to land within a certain amount of time and make you prioritize which ones need to land. There could even be an upgrade to get larger fuel tanks.
Not bad! I'm in love with this game. My record on this map is over 250 points, and had 37 planes in the air when I crashed (I took a screenshot and counted). The directional waypoints you wondered why you'd ever want aren't talking about the coloured destinations; they're waypoints that you get to place, so you could - for instance - set something up that would point planes to the runway at the perfect approach angle. That way you would only have to tell them to land and they'd already be lined up. I don't use those at all, but they could be good depending on playstyle. From my experience, one Expedite for tighter turns is plenty. It's diminishing returns after that, so better to extend the waiting area, get more exit points, and expand the map. I also love having a few holding patterns, because there's no fuel considerations in the game, so you can just put a few planes in a holding circle and they'll stay there forever, so you don't have to worry about them. I think the maximum you can fit around a single holding pattern without crashing is 4 planes, but I don't go higher than 3.
It's called Air Control Lite. It was so much fun, and even better than this version because you had to draw the exact path of the planes. I wish the developer had updated it. There's so much potential left on the table.
The game itself is also copied. I've played a similar game more than a decade ago on Android; it's called air control lite. The developer hasn't updated the game at all, which is a shame because it is one of the classics from the era of subway surfers and angry birds. That game even plays better because you need to draw the exact path of the planes.

it would be cool if dinosaur polo club hired them and have the ip be reworked to a more polished version. Aircraft are the best next installment on the "mini" lineup
I think the Navigation Waypoint is probably better than you think it is. It sounds like it lets you drop an additional point on the map and send the planes there after they take off, when they reach the waypoint they automatically turn in a new direction that you set.
The only place planes are landing is the runway. Those are navigational waypoints to let planes go over to another controller. Why did you think planes were landing at those?
When you had a load of greys trying to land, it probably would have been helpful to have them circling a hold point until you cleared some stuff up. Just a thought. Love to see more of this.
As an aviation enthusiast the landing ang takeoff directions being chosen at random was a bit jarring 😂😂😂 Accounting for wind could even work as a game mechanic though, maybe an option for an update.
Endlessly waiting for Matt to discover hold waypoint and then him commenting "it will make it very complicated"and then crashing at the end of the video
My mom was an ATC for over 30 years working for the Bears (sector that directs traffic for O'Hare and midway.) She mostly worked O'Hare arrivals. She is now an ATC trainer for new incoming ATCs. I wonder how well she will do at this game.
And here i am in a place with 3 airports and not even close to this many flights. With the airguard some people are getting their hours in, but they just tend to circle the city a handful of times and land again.
When you are controlling planes you want them to all take off and land in the same direction on each runway. If a plane is approaching from the wrong direction then you need them to fly around the airport and land the correct way. This way you can create a holding pattern that all planes can use without risking a collision in the air.
If you’re ever going to work for atc, I’m going to be landing at the airport like a complete potatohead just to annoy the ATC. I do like being annoying 😂
