I think you underestimate the usefulness of the navigational point. It is very useful in ordering and lining up planes towards a runway. I usually send incoming flights to a navigational point so that I have a flow of incoming planes coming from a single direction towards a runway. That way I dont have to juggle several inbound planes flighing in random directions.
In the last ep he thought that it meant you control outbound planes that have reached their colours. Which is worse because the planes just poof away when you arrive at a colour adding that would just add another layer of complexity.
As a pilot irl, when you uploaded the first vid, I installed this game faster than anything I’ve ever done. It’s super addictive. Just a warning, it gets really complicated on later
… oh RCE, never change. Those Hold and Navigation Waypoints are pretty much essential to getting high scores, the hold in particular! But I do absolutely want you to keep playing it! Far more entertaining than clickers, or even Hydroneer!
I saw those and I'm like, has RCE ever lived near an airport?! Because if he had, he'd know that the only way real Air Traffic Controller manage is by having planes circle. Of course, reality has this nice thing about having 3D space so that 2 planes can cross without even coming close to crossing!
For the crossover runway, an important consideration is the time a landing plane spends stopped on the runway to taxi, so you should think of both runways as being one-way heading AWAY from the crossover point. That way, when a plane lands on one runway, it doesn't sit there blocking the OTHER runway for a couple precious seconds. I generally take that one-way approach to all runways in this game, regardless of the level. I find it exponentially easier to control traffic to flow in a single direction, and if you always take off planes in the same direction you land them, you can minimize the wait time, and dramatically reduce the chances of a collision. Also, with this pre-release demo, the leaderboard isn't actually active to the playing community. My record on the Tokyo level is over 400 points, for instance.
The easteregg of the hudson river crash is an interesting inclusion in the game! I wonder if theyll include other events that are similar in other cities
That was some architect level ATCing there. Somethings I found out: you can use destinations as makeshift waypoints for all traffic. way I used waypoints was basically to normalize flight corridors, mainly for setting up inbounds on pre final approach, they work good as catch alls for inbounds, also sometimes for points where I needed a precise timed hard turn. the holding patterns suck ass, I had only two planes in one, and they still somehow crashed into each other when one speed demon pilot caught up with the other. Expedite upgrade seem to be only really worth it for like 4-5 upgrades, then they don't seem to affect the turn radius much more.
As a pilot of a BMW I would like to inform you that this is not your airport and we will land wherever we see fit. Your job is to keep our runways clear for us when we need them.
i got happy tingles when i saw the mayday say bird strike, lost both engines and returning to LaGuardia, because i actually knew what was being referenced.
I can't see a game with an airport without being reminded of Skyrama and still this is a thousand times more complex than it! Keep up the good work, Matt!
As someone that works at the airport with the most runways in the world (it’s O’Hare, IL, USA with 8) I hope they have O’Hare in this game! He thinks 2 are bad!😂😂
Weird that New York is only the second level. It should be the level that is the ultimate test of your skills; basically if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.
I downloaded this after your first video and love it. Very addictive and stressful. I like the editor in there and made a map based on my local small airport. I just wish, for the runway length slider in the editor, that you could actually set the number of feet or meters for the runway, all it does is change the length without showing what the actual length is.
7:30 wait there are ppl who dont know this? But i as a joke tough right after the plane told it has lost its engines that "it will probably land on the hudson river" but didnt think theyd actually do it
@@Franimus gotcha, probably why I hadn't heard of the game, pretty sure I follow the devs of the other mini games. Think I'll still get the game tho, they nailed the stress vibes when stuff goes wrong
They actually put Captain Sully sullenbergers heroic landing in the Hudson in the game, US Airways Flight 1549 was struck by Canada gooses after takeoff at about 2.800 feet and because it took 35 seconds to Analyse the situation start the APU they couldn’t make it to any airport and ditched in the Hudson. I love how in the game the pilot says Cactus 1539. also how did Matt not realise at first it’s the Miracle of the Hudson. And surprisingly the flight path of the in game plane is pretty accurate to the real flight path.
The reason Shanghai airport is right next to restricted airspace is because a large portion of China is restricted, leading to irregular and angular airports
You said "blue hornets" I think you meant "blue Angels" (the navy's flilght demonstration squadron) The "Thunderbirds" are the same thing but for the airforce.
I'm screaming at my point to get Matt to use Hold waypoint instead of the expedite to resolve the too many planes in the air waiting to land situation...
For anyone wanting to try the demo version, DO NOT DO IT. In 2 days of playing, I’ve already racked up 11.6 hours of gameplay. It is that addictive. So if you have stuff to do, consider this your warning NOT TO DOWNLOAD IT.
Yep. Scully had to land on the Hudson river because air traffic control were indecisive over where to send the bird struck plane. IRL & Re-enacted within a video game sim by Matt. Hmm. I wonder if he'll cause a plane collision at some point which causes plane shrapnel to fall into a chemistry teacher turned meth cooks swimming pool.?

Yeah me as an aviation expert really hurts to watch this when someone doesn’t know waypoints and holding patterns.
He clearly does not play MSFS 2020 or watch ATC vids
Mix in those with a hold point foe go arounds when things get tight
As a pilot irl, when you uploaded the first vid, I installed this game faster than anything I’ve ever done. It’s super addictive. Just a warning, it gets really complicated on later
Respect for the pilot 🫡

What's the tokyo strat? Do u use holds like missed approach holds? And waypoints like IAP?
7:10 oh it's captain sully saving everyone!
That was my first thought when I saw Cactus for the callsign, and realized it was 1549.

In real life, it's the opposite: planes in the air have priority over planes on the ground.
That was some architect level ATCing there.

As someone flying to Kos tomoorow from England, I truely appreciate this video and PRAY Matt isn't an air traffic controller in his spare time
Kos... or some say... Kosm... grant eyes to the traffic controllers!
You can use other colored destinations as waypoints. Like you can use a blue waypoint to guide a red or gray etc
7:06 you missed a Breaking Bad Tuco clip
The Miracle on the Hudson is considered the most successful emergency water landing by an airliner.
9:41 If only BMW started making jets, I mean, can't they just let the ban on BMW plane engines go? It's been 80 years already.
6:51 I got some flashbacks there😂😂😂

it's fun to watch you do this! i recommend you try to get acclimated with the hold points more as they help once things REALLY get clogged
choose the way point, it is the most must take upgrade of the game, and you will easier to queue up the approaching planes, like real world ATCs.
There’s a reason airports don’t use crossing runways at the same time (it’s wind direction and wind speed)
And I thought Biffa ran those planes in tight places, You stressed me out, Matt! LOL
