Mufti Muhammad Shafi Sahib Uthmani رحمه الله writes: ‘Upon the issue of the moon, if there is an advancement of technology to assist in the field of Astronomy to the point where there is no deviation from the Islamic principles, then there is no reason to reject it. (Ru’yat Hilal, p10)

اس حدیث میں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے چاند دیکھ کر مہینہ شروع کرنے کی وجہ کم علمی اور حساب کتاب سے قوم کا نا بلد ہونا بتائی ہے. علت، امت کی کم علمی ہے، گویا علم ہونے کی صورت میں اسے استعمال کیا جائے گا.....
معاف کیجئے اس حدیث سے تو حسابی علم ہونے کی صورت میں اسے ہی استعمال کرنے کی ترغیب مل رہی ہے. ہاں اس وقت مسلمانوں میں یہ علم نہیں تھا تو رویت ہی درست طریقہ تھا.
سادگی والی بات حدیث میں کہیں نہیں
واللہ عالم
یہ اسی طرح ہے کہ آپ کسی آدمی کو مشورہ دیں کہ
"کیونکہ تمہارے پاس سرمایہ نہیں لہذا کاروبار کے بجائے ملازمت کرلو"
اور وہ شخص آپکی بات سے یہ نتیجہ نکالے کہ کاروبار کرنا درست نہیں. حالانکہ آپکی بات میں سرمایہ کی عدم موجودگی علت ہے، اور جملے میں یہ بات مضمر ہے کہ سرمایہ ہو تو کاروبار ہی کرو.
ایسی صورت میں اس جملے سے کاروبار مطلقاً نہ کرنے کا نتیجہ نکالنے والے کی عقل پر ماتم ہی کیا جا سکتا ہے
HERE IS THE EXACT HADITH,
Volume 3, Book 31, Number 137: Narrated Ibn 'Umar:
The Prophet said, "We are an illiterate nation; we neither write, nor know accounts. The month is like this and this, i.e. sometimes of 29 days and sometimes of thirty days."
NOW YOU CAN SEE THAT RASOOL ULLAH SAW NEVER ORDERED HIS UMMAH TO USE ASTRONOMY AS KNOWLEDGE, IN FACT HE JUST TOLD THEIR PRESENT SITUATION ABOUT LITERACY THAT THEY WERE NOT THAT MUCH AWARE. EVERY BODY KNOWS THIS FACT.
Zul-Hejja ه ١٣٩٩ (Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Baaz) The grand scholar Mufti of Saudi Arabia (Al Bathul Islami p 63) After doing extensive research on this issue, he concludes with this statement. ‘As for those who say that it is necessary to follow the sighting of Makkah then let it be known that there is no proof or basis for this in the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah’.

I’m confused Dr Zakir says even moon is there but you can’t see it that means it hasn’t started, now isn’t it the moon we follow? Isn’t it the moon that appears makes us start Ramadan and Eid , if so then if the moon 🌙 is there shouldn’t it started ? And also why do we have to see the moon with naked eye when the moon is behind clouds? If the moon is there shouldn’t we start cause we follow the moon. ( Seeing is to know and knowing is seeing) today’s technology you are able to know if the moon has appeared behind clouds. Yes back in time they had no technology to know if moon is there or not when it is cloudy that is why our Prophet pbuh said We are an un unlettered people , we do not write nor calculate. but today we are able to see or know what is behind the clouds by technology.
If theses jews and Christians follow their own scriptures correctly :
They will accept Muhammad as Bible 1 John 4:1 "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits ..." proves that Muhammad is the true spirit/Prophet of God
That Jesus pbuh was a God
That God and Jesus are two different entity but are same in PURPOSE as they are same in purpose with Muhammad peace be upon him too
Mufti Taqi Usmani حفظه الله stated: ‘In Saudi Arabia the sighting of the moon has been accepted before even the birth of the moon on many occasions which is impossible in my view. I have discussed the situation with many Saudi Scholars and they are also disturbed with these occurrences. However, since this is in the hands of the Majlisul Qadha Al-A’la (Saudi Supreme Court Riyadh) they are helpless.’ (19th Rabi us Thani 1412AH)
The Saudi government would be responsible to formulate whatever systems and procedures were required to ensure this could be fulfilled. Together with this, it was recommended that the new month announcement be reliant upon the ‘birth of the new moon’ ( القمر الجد يد ) rather than the sighting of the crescent moon. This would allow the Saudi government to announce the new moon before it was possible to be sighted anywhere in the World. (Tuhfatul Al Ma’ee Sharah Tirmidhi vol 3, p56)

Brother, the hadeeth says "we are an unlettered people, we do not write nor calculate". You wrongly translated this as we do not calculate nor do accounts. This hadeeth proves that the Prophet pbuh was referring to the Ummah of his generation, who were simple desert bedouins. Of course the Prophet pbuh did not mean that Muslims will never write or calculate. Brother, with all do respects, you should confine yourself to the area of your strength which is comparative religion.

It was not possible to accurately determine the phase of the moon during time of the prophet as it also depends on astronomical and meteorological effects. That is why it was not recommended.
In the time of Rasool Ullah SAW, knowledge of astronomy was either too basic or it was not present at all. Know this knowledge is not only proven many times as perfect but it has proved its accuracy. So what do you think being engaged in useless debates is better or adopting a better way. This knowledge is given by Allah and Allah encourages to use mind and knowledge in Quran.

I don't follow astronomical evidence but I object on this matter. Why do we Muslims use scientific calculation to know prayer times? Is not it a Bid`ah too? Should not we use traditional prayer calculation method too?

They do not do Eid according to prefixed Islamic Calendar
Many years the date of moon sighting is different than the one going on in calendar
So Calendar may be showing 30th of Ramadhan but we can be celebrating Eid.
While on the duty paper it will be dated 30th Ramadhan just to know the official dates even in later years when one may forget the moon sighting

Saudi Arabian government follows Qur'an and Sunnah to declare the dates of festivals.
@qamar0786 It is wrong to doubt Saudi Arabian policies on Islam as there is probably only one country in the world that uses Islamic calender.
The Saudi Arabian government releases and official calender based on their approximate calculation of the months and all official works are based upon that calender while for religious incidents the moon is sighted and sighting is announced .

So even if according to sighting it is 11th of Ramadan, the writing on official papers will be 10th /12 Ramadhan as published on official calender while 11th fast will be ongoing.
It is a sin to doubt the intentions of Muslim Ummah

Christians are the ones who were entrusted to preserve Gospel but they did not do it so God sent the last Prophet with last scripture which was well preserved

Muhammad peace be upon him was the last Prophet of God and his rulings are the ones on which Judgement will be made on the day of Judgement.
Qur'an is the course book which contains baselines issues to be implemented in practical life if one wants to pass the examination of hereafter.
