- In this video, I'll be reviewing the PlayStation Pulse Elite Headset when I first got my hands on this headset, I was intrigued by its futuristic design, but as I delved deeper, there were some surprising issues that I feel you need to know before considering a purchase.
Firstly, the aesthetics are undeniably cutting-edge, and the comfort level is commendable with cushioned ear pads that provide good isolation. However, my experience took a turn when I tested the sound quality. For a $200 headset, the bass feels disappointingly lackluster, resembling more of a budget product than a premium gaming accessory. I'll let you hear the difference in the review!
On the practical side, the controls are straightforward, and the PlayStation link, especially for PC users, is a nice touch. Yet, there are significant drawbacks like the non-magnetic charging dock, making it a bit finicky to charge.

Bass is absolutely adequate on these for people wondering. The detail they retrieve is also beyond amazing for the price. Unless you're a beats by dre bass crazie these are superb for the price. How he can ssy they sound bland defies logic. Sounds to me like he needs to get his hearing checked.
I have them and Blackshark V2 and several headphones with heavy bass capability as well as balanced sound profiles. (well I'm an audiophile). These are gaming headphones only, geared toward fast realistic spatial imaging. These make you relisten to all your games. If you hear distortion, they are either turned up too far or faulty.
Did you try the option on the ps5 that it has that can help you to adjust the base and sound quality
Your sound quality statement does not fit any other review at all. They are described everywhere as very, very detailed and spacious soundstage wise, the bass is not strong but ok but you hear every detail just like you would think from a Audeze planar . Something is wrong with some part of your gear or you did not let these burn in at all...

@@lorddrifter7296 planars need time. All audio needs time. Hans Beekhausen runs anything he tries 24/7 for 2 weeks straight to get 90- 95% of what it sounds like. No, all the reviewers did not like it because they are bought. Way too many reviewers for that. A sample gets passed around over and over to different reviewers. They normally don't get to keep anything unless they are great, well known reviewers. Been buying audio for a long while and the amp I've got sounded so bad that i tought it was broken when i first used it. 3 days later it sounded amazing. Planars are rigid. They need time.
Reviews are saying the highs are to high and the bass is terrible.
I return my pair because I randomly disconnect. I'm trying to love them, but it's not easy. The bass Is there? But it's not commanding like it should be. I don't know how many have experiences this. But I had popping in one of the drivers.
I do have a second pair coming in tomorrow. Hopefully those are better. If not, I will return them indefinitely. And stick to my pulse 3D and get there H9
him saying "the sound is bland" tells me hes used to the boomy and sibilant sound of crap like hyperx headsets
Apparently the drivers in these, the magnetic planar drivers, are the reason the bass isn't as boomy as some people would like. As a trade off, these drivers are meant to be amazing for detail in the highs, but anything too bassy can cause the overall soundstage to become muddy.
Sony purchased audeze and put out this monster. Thank you sony! 💪🏽
I’m sorry you have good reviews in general but this one was a bit of Yap the sound was amzing and I really recommend this headset especially for ps5 users
I think it was a disappointment for him bcs he bought it specifically for PC and he's one of the only ones that's making an honest review for the PC side so I think it makes sense
I find it sad and funny that he rattles the headset like a mad man complaining about the sound it makes. Are you headbanging while wearing them? Surely they aren't that loose to move that much while on your head.

They have planar speakers and are by far the most precise in their price range ever. Most compare them with astro a50x because you can hear every single detail. Did you actually play with them? The only thing they lack is power. If you want action like in doom or mad max

I purchased it with the same mind set this was going to be my next headset and because I always liked Sony headsets and earbuds. Would love to know what you think if you end up getting it.

The sound quality is not bad, but you got to understand that some people are from Team beats or team Skullcandy and they like the rattling bass personally. I don't care myself. I do have the Sony xm5 that have a neutral clean sounding Bass. The only reason I return my first pair of Pulse Elite was due to the dongle disconnecting often and popping sound I had on one of the drivers besides that messing around with the EQ made them sound terrific. I get a second pair tomorrow if it's a software issue. They need to update these again so they can stop disconnecting all the time.
You may be used to headphones that have a very warm signature to say the least or are super bassy and bloated. One thing's certain, if you're looking for that loose bass growl in explosions or that sub-bass, these are not for you. Having planar magnetic drivers they don't displace as much air as their dynamic counterparts. Maybe if you give it another chance, you can enjoy the product for what it is - a responsive and crisp sounding headset, that is not quite audiophile grade, but far from having poor sound quality. Anyways, without measurements it's purely the subjective opinion of the reviewer.

Okay, but how does the mic sound? I assume it sounds better than the basic 3D Pulse headset right? What with it having an actual mic arm and all? Thats mainly what I'm wanting to know. Love the sound and comfort of the basic one, but the mic kinda sucks. Just wondering if it's worth the upgrade. 🫤
You complain about the lack of bass quite a bit. I'm curious, though, have you ever used other $200-$400 Planar Magnetic driver headphones?

@@musicimpact7120 Yeah, it's always odd when someone complains about the lack of bass on a planar magnetic set of cans. That's what made me wonder if he'd used any other "cheap" planar magnetic headphones.
Planars can have tons of bass though, it's just very precise, not rumbly, and the sub-bass extension is sublime especially for an open back. Source: Me owning a pair of Audeze LCD2Cs with a beefy amp, can't talk about the pulse elites though...
The charging dock is just great. Even you complaining, ended up setting it straight away 😅
You're right on the bass... when pushed to the max.
Either way you should connect it first with a ps5 to update and tune it.
I'll stick to my H9 Sony headset
First of all, these cannot be used with a PC out of the box. If you are looking to use these with a PC you have to be a PlayStation 5 user because first you got to equalize these in the PlayStation 5 then whatever was your last equalizer mode will save to the headset and it will work on the PC. Yes, these sound like garbage when you use them out of the box, but if you tweak them they sound amazing. These are designed for gaming listening to music with heavy bass will make them sound distorting and ugly. These are my primary gaming headset and that's it for everything else. I use my xm5. I personally like the way they sound they are amazing to me and so far the pair. I got to replace. My first one has been performing really good.

Remember most people don’t really eq their headset and this one definitely needs it. The bass isn’t really there but no amount of eq will fix that but out the box it’s very bright in sound and the treble can be harsh especially to someone who isn’t used to that. Looking at his previous headset it’s easy to see why he doesn’t like these.

Sony's headset mic sucks deff. But it's worse than Quest Pro mic, unfortuanately. I've been looking for a good headset for positional 3D Sound like Sony Pulse, but.... Sold my PSVR 2 + PS5 I never been so mad at a product until I bought Sony with their sh9t "PS Plus" thing and I had a nightmare today that my PS5 was still in my room and it didn't work.
This headset sucks, constantly disconnects from the console, it is impossible to connect to anything quickly with bluetooth, because of bad controls, also very bad materials of assembly, collecting all scratches.!!!!!The sound is at maximum, very noisy, it sucks
You have shit in ears if the sound quality sucks for you, sorry. To overcome muddy bass, just don't put the max level out of these headphones buttons.

Worst headset I've ever had. Can't connect to anything, sound is awful and staticy, disconnects constantly, and it feels cheap. Just get the old pulse.
