Heads up, over the long term, is one of the greatest tests of skill in poker. It pits both players fundamentals and theoretical understanding against each other. However, in a format like this, the variance is greatly increased (which makes for a better viewer experience so it’s understandable). As such, while fundamentals are still important, getting fortuitous runouts and hand matchups does play a great deal in any one singular sit n go (the format they are playing). So to answer your question, no. In general, heads up crutches on your skillset more than any other format. However, in a turbo structure (like this one) getting dealt good cards is incredibly important as you are playing quite shallow stack depths and are obviously forced to put in a blind every hand. That’s why you’ll see many heads up matches go 25,000+ hands to reduce that variance.
Can easily be done in HU matches (especially Hypers) - I've won and lost matches when one of us has been down less than 1Bb! Here though, Negs outplayed Phil deep stacked. Phil needed white magic luck
