I am from Iceland and my first time playing Super Mario 64 was in the summer of 1996 when I was 14. It was at the only shop that had the Nintendo license to sell their stuff, they got a Japanese version of Super Mario 64, they didn't even have the foresight to put this upfront in the shop, I asked about N64 games and they invited me into to a backroom that had just a TV and a sofa, they turned on Super Mario 64 and handed me the controller, I can't sufficiently describe in words how amazed I was with the controller and the moment of jumping into through the picture on the wall to start a level. That moment and the first time I played Doom have never been surpassed and probably never will.
On the bright side. If you miss out on this one, you get the chance to miss out on the "limited release" funtastic colored ones that im sure are already planned.
FYI. I just bought a tv 3 years ago. First time since 2006, love my 26 inch RCA HDTV with traditional a/v jacks. However the living room needed a TV and I saw a port called AV in. Found an adapter for this port on the tv one end is make the other 3 ends are AV inputs. This feature is far superior than a converter box and improves quality and did apply the hertz ration to my n64 games. I highly recommend looking for this kind of port on your tv. The adapter was 10 bucks.
The lack of comparison pictures and video is not uncommon for Analogue, they dont show them for their other systems either. I'm pretty sure they don't post those due to copyright issues.
It’s 250$ USD so us folks here in canada will be paying around 400$ total after shipping. Better off buying the original for 100$ with the Eon Super 64 Hd Adapter.
I don't think they ever show that with any of their previous products either, you just had to buy it and hope for the best. The Analogue Nt, Analogue Super Nt, Analog Mega Sg, all the adapters for that, the Pocket Nt, and the Duo Nt all were never demonstrated but when they all did launch and all were fantastic so yeah you just had to take Analogues word for it. This will be the greatest work from our boy Kevtris since he had never let us down before, he won't let us down on this one.
I use an adapter that converts the composite signal to HDMI. I'm sure the scaling isn't proper but it looks clear to me and I don't notice any input lag!
I can’t imagine a modded N64 with HDMI out is gonna look as good as the Analogue 3D. I bought a Super Nt and Analogue Duo, the quality of the system itself and the picture quality are second to none. You have so many more options with an Analogue system versus just a modded console. Both systems have been jail broken, what you can do with them is awesome.
I've got an N64, it would probably be cheaper to just buy one if there's so few games you're interested in. Especially if you don't really need whatever scaler is built into this.

Preordered a black one this morning. The white was interesting, but wasn’t sure the grey cartridges would blend as nicely. I know a lot of people diss on Analogue, but if you’ve ever tried to Ultra HDMI mod you’re N64 I guarantee you wouldn’t be complaining. Love Analogue’s product line. Hope they do the PS1 next. I think I prefer the white version when looking strictly at the console, but when I think about how it will look with original carts, I am on the same page as you: I think they'll clash. I ended up ordering the black one. I have the transparent red Everdrive-64 X7 and-assuming it's compatible-will look great. This will be my first Analogue product. I've backed out on the Pocket twice-which I'm glad I did because I can put that money towards this which I feel is better spent since N64 emulation falls short whereas the games meant for Pocket run-for all practical purposes-flawlessly.

Honestly i still have my n64 when it originally came out from when i was in 3rd grade. I still use it on newer tvs that i bought within the last year. Still works like a champ and my kids love it as much as i did when i was young. We were actually just playing super smash bros and mario kart a couple days ago and also use it more than the Nintendo switch.

Not sure if they fixed their image but the writing on the image is black not white, and the scratchy images on the carts is to symbolise that you can play your "30 odd year old games"
The people in the comments whining about the price clearly do not understand how much the UltraHDMI mod still costs. $250 is a steal, especially if the 4K quality is excellent.

Just pre-ordered mine 3 days ago! For one, it really isn't that expensive. I thought it would have honestly cost more! I'm going to plug up my original N64 controllers or Bluetooth wireless my Switch controllers. For a small price, I'm willing to put my wallet to the test on this. I'm excited, can't wait!
I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt but their Trinitron CRT filter on the Pocket on the Dock looks pretty darn good on my 4k TV. I compared it to my Toshiba flat screen CRT, pretty darn close. You would never know if you didn't have a real CRT to compare to.
I would get this, but I did the N64 digital mod to my original N64, and it works well. I'm not sure this would be any better other than having all new components.
I'm not going to give names, but I know the primary dev on this project. Really smart guy, who also contributes a lot back to the N64 emulation community. There are of course NDAs in place so they can't share everything, but this is an extremely knowledgable dev, and the fact that they have 100% game compatibility is really incredible. I'm not necessarily a fan of the way they run their business either, and try to pretend FPGAs aren't a different form of emulation, but this is quite the achievement. The open source mister FPGA project still expects you to patch some ROMs to get to 100% which is just nuts. I have no inside information, but I wouldn't be surprised if they avoided screenshots so Nintendo does come at them for posting pictures of their games. They are just brutal.

Lots of n64 games run with an unlocked frame rate. I would think that this console should have an option to take advantage of that so we can play games without frame rate drops.
As far as the comparison shots and not having some of the details we would like to have, it is a legit criticism from a marketing perspective. Definitely a huge oversight. Maybe they just want us all to be surprised by it or something weird. That being said, their track record is flawless when it comes to the quality of their fpga hardware.
I REALLY want this! I'm broke as FRICK, though! I wish they sold a version of the 8BitDo controller with the D-pad in the upper left side of the controller (for the wrestling games). Hopefully they make a version like that!
Very cool for N64 fans. And not a bad price, which is surprising. I only care about a few n64 games so I'm passing. It would be nice if they made a smaller, lcd screened analogue pocket (with a cartridge slot that properly covers the inserted game).
I been wanting to preorder it, but the price seems hefty to me. It's out of stock right about now, but I will get the email notifications soon to see this system has more in stock in the near future.
Thinking new generations would buy a terribly old static tv to play old Nintendo 64 games on is outdated. This helps me let my kid play what I used to. And I can also play my games that I collect in the meantime. Wifi helps a lot with the amount of wires people have to connect. Bluetooth is a big +, they kept the original ports too for smash players or competitive ones. The Analogue pocket had also been the only one in it's league so I'm expecting the same here.
almost any system can be used with an hdmi adapter these days. you can also use switch online and play n64 games on it or many emulators out there with an hdmi output.
Internet connectivity is great because, assuming the developer wants to do continued support, they can push, if nothing else, bug fixes out to it in a straight forward manner. If I had to guess, and this is absolutely just a guess, that's all the wifi is for in this case. As inexpensive as it is to include in hardware, it feels like a no-brainer to be able to ensure that, if something did slip through the cracks during internal testing, it can be remedied after it hits end user's hands. FWIW I don't have any of these products, and am just speaking out loud.
The number of gold mines Nintendo is just sitting on..... both colors of this are sold out, and it's just the pre-order. Can you imagine if Nintendo just revived the console?

Not to mention when you get to the price of like an everdrive and a decent retrotink scaler to get comparably clean 4K output/crt shaders you're already at well over $1000. Not saying the Analogue 3D will live up to expectations let alone even be a good product but the appeal of it is definitely understandable. They really needed to show actual footage before asking for money though.
My favorite feature so far has got to be the DAC support… Oh wait, you didn’t see it on the page? Yeah - neither did I. Actually, not surprised given that after 3 firmware updates, DAC support is yet to come to the Duo… and that last update was back in March. 🤔

Finally, I can play my N64 games on an HDTV without using cables to plug into the wall. Yahoo.

As far as the comparison shots and not having some of the details we would like to have, it is a legit criticism from a marketing perspective. Definitely a huge oversight. Maybe they just want us all to be surprised by it or something weird. That being said, their track record is flawless when it comes to the quality of their fpga hardware.
I REALLY want this! I'm broke as FRICK, though! I wish they sold a version of the 8BitDo controller with the D-pad in the upper left side of the controller (for the wrestling games). Hopefully they make a version like that!

I don't imagine it would need it. The N64DD was just extra memory. I assume this system already has much more memory than the original N64.

Very cool for N64 fans. And not a bad price, which is surprising. I only care about a few n64 games so I'm passing. It would be nice if they made a smaller, lcd screened analogue pocket (with a cartridge slot that properly covers the inserted game).
I been wanting to preorder it, but the price seems hefty to me. It's out of stock right about now, but I will get the email notifications soon to see this system has more in stock in the near future.

Thinking new generations would buy a terribly old static tv to play old Nintendo 64 games on is outdated. This helps me let my kid play what I used to. And I can also play my games that I collect in the meantime. Wifi helps a lot with the amount of wires people have to connect. Bluetooth is a big +, they kept the original ports too for smash players or competitive ones. The Analogue pocket had also been the only one in it's league so I'm expecting the same here.
Curious why it shows a library of games in the menu, yet it says it plays right off the cartridge? Does it rip the rom file and store locally?
almost any system can be used with an hdmi adapter these days. you can also use switch online and play n64 games on it or many emulators out there with an hdmi output.
If it's coming with an internal hard drive, I'm all in!

Internet connectivity is great because, assuming the developer wants to do continued support, they can push, if nothing else, bug fixes out to it in a straight forward manner. If I had to guess, and this is absolutely just a guess, that's all the wifi is for in this case. As inexpensive as it is to include in hardware, it feels like a no-brainer to be able to ensure that, if something did slip through the cracks during internal testing, it can be remedied after it hits end user's hands.
FWIW I don't have any of these products, and am just speaking out loud.
Will it work with there DAC, I also want to know if it will work with a flash cart (everdrive).
With all these extra power and HDMI connection and crazy resolution, we can't upscale on this console. Damn!!!
The number of gold mines Nintendo is just sitting on..... both colors of this are sold out, and it's just the pre-order. Can you imagine if Nintendo just revived the console?
I have a classic N64 modded with N64Digital. Pretty sweet, updates over WiFi
I definitely prefer the true resolution of the N64, pixels are my thing. It's a different experience with HD graphics...
But it looks bad on a modern TV, that's the point of this.

An ultra HDMI is $220 itself, not even installed, so I don’t think that’s a fair comparison if you happened to find a used one cheaper some where.
Not to mention when you get to the price of like an everdrive and a decent retrotink scaler to get comparably clean 4K output/crt shaders you're already at well over $1000. Not saying the Analogue 3D will live up to expectations let alone even be a good product but the appeal of it is definitely understandable. They really needed to show actual footage before asking for money though.
My favorite feature so far has got to be the DAC support… Oh wait, you didn’t see it on the page? Yeah - neither did I. Actually, not surprised given that after 3 firmware updates, DAC support is yet to come to the Duo… and that last update was back in March. 🤔

Scalpers get majority of preorders. Wonder if Analogue 3D will be DAC compatible like store use to say all future Analogue products will be DAC compatible, which is absent in the store. Where’s the Pocket adapters? Other than the GameGear adapter all others are absent from the store!
