I actually love Academy. They always seem to have all the lure brands I use and I love their Magellan clothing line.
I have the Magellan angler 10ft kayak and I love it. Academy never disappoints.
Academy’s H20 brand hooks are the best and they’ve always got a good selection of kayaks and Jon boats.

Hi there, I’ve checked out a few of your videos because I considered purchasing a Vibe Makana 100 recently and I’ve seen your videos on that!
Just wanted to say I appreciate the tour video and all your others for insight and perspective.
By the way. My wife and I both work at two different academy stores and the store motto is “to be the best out doors retailer in the US” which I feel like is becoming more accurate these days. Can’t find too many good selections of kayaks elsewhere to view in store and we live in Texas. I feel like it’s personally the first job I’ve had that hasn’t felt like a job because I enjoy the atmosphere so much there.
We had been considering getting the Magellan 10’6 pro angler PD as we both want to upgrade to pedal drives so it’s nice to see you going over it a bit here

I had the Chalenger 100X, but sold it a week after buying it. Snagged a fish (nearly 40 pound flathead catfish), and got tipped over! One thing about the Challenger is: it's LIGHT, and just right for little people (I'm about 6'4" and weigh around 200#, that's why I call most people "Little"...!). Lol
The Catch 100 was my next 'Yak, and still have it (paddles like a "TANK", but I still like it for small ponds and little places.
(I have 5 other 'Yaks, too. 2 motorized and 3 paddle-powered).

You mentioned a upgrade of the gears for the impulse drive . Can you please advise where they sell the upgrade? I just brought two vibe uptowns and looking to get some extra speed.

Academy will let you return anything, Magellan and H20 are both quality products too. I love Academy. My Bass Pro Shops only carries the huge brand name fishing stuff. Academy has all of that plus local favorites. Plus those Magellan kayaks feel like they are built more solid than the Ascents.
Academy has always been my go to for rods and reels. Sometimes lures. It just seems BPS usually has a much better lure selection.

@@AliexFolgueira they returned and replaced a Abu Garcia revo x that sprang apart when casting it. Abu Garcia told me they were sending replacement parts and never did. Just emails saying they were working on it. Because I waited on their LIE the warranty with academy had lapsed. But the manager still allowed me to bring it in (missing parts and all) and exchange it for a Less Tournament series.
I might have to get that Magellan Angler pro, best deal I've seen on a pedal Kayak.
i know the drive doesn't look like much but looks arent everything, the drive is durable, it is a bit slow but you can upgrade the gears

I bought one this summer about 2 weeks ago I love it I used to have a pa12 and this is just as stable and a heck of a lot lighter witch is huge for me because I car top it
@@AliexFolgueira (I deleted the previous comment because it did just seem negative.) anyways- this is true, and ultimately the consumers choice. But even you yourself made a short saying not to buy cheap boats to save money. I’m just saying kayaks aren’t that much of a different monster. The peddle drive will most likely fail sooner that one you get on a $2600 boat. I could be wrong and the peddle drive could be a tank. The plastic is usually thinner which is the #1 complaint on the ascend kayaks, that it bends when you stand on them and causes the deck to deform and crack around the seat. I’m not saying this one has that problem, but it might. (Though many people buy it anyways and mitigate the problem by stuffing hard foam into the hull.) I just wanted to share my input and the reasoning that I went with a $1,500 paddle kayak instead of a $1,500 peddle kayak. Also because I can get a trolling motor and battery later on down the road and be in around the same price of a nice paddle yak. If someone else decides differently than me- that’s why they have menus at restaurants ;)
I'm here in central Florida so it's Tampa or Orlando for Bass Pro or Academy so I usually end up at Academy. They also have better ammo prices. What Sucks is the trip to Augusta GA. 4 the closest Cabellas which is hands down so much better than Bass Pro.

Worked at academy for 3 years at one of the biggest stores in Tx during college. (Don't work there, it aint the best 😂) .They've stopped selling the super nice fishing equipment like they used to years ago. Its all getting to be pretty low quality products it seemed, except they started stepping up their own magellan and h20x products which is starting to look better for most anglers that are getting into fishing or visiting the coast. That store looks 100x better than most of them I've been too here in Tx. Definitely cool to see the waterloo rods there! They used to sell the hp lites, but now its only salinity and phantoms which are still products the best rods they sell for inshore and built an hr away from me in Victoria tx.
I guess it depends on the area, gonna try one close to Orlando next month
@@AliexFolgueira Looking at the newport 180pro/300 or using the Autoboat converson (adds spotlock and wireless remote to basic transom trolling motor) on a kaku voodoo. Which would you choose? I fish shallow water down here in the tx flats mostly.

Never been in one. I got a Bass Pro about 20 miles away. Looked like no kayaks over 10-6 so not really interested. Was worth a gander.
People are enjoying these walking kayak tours, number says so, I came up with 4-5 more videos ideas, easy to film and edit and people like them

@cerescop that right there is the big issue Nelson, something works for 1-3 videos then nada. This year I added camping and it looks to me like that content has potential, will add the "survival " aspect to it
@@AliexFolgueira There are islands out there in the mangroves. You can do the "challenge" of I only have the kayak and these items in it can I 'survive' for 3 days on what I have here? Then have like a micro wood stove, pan, knife, some water, and a wool blanket and a tent. Along with your regular fishing gear. Should be a snap

@AliexFolgueira To me, Bass Pro is overpriced on half of their stuff, and with Academy half the crowd, Bass Pro is like a tourist attraction nowadays..

They just opened one here maybe 8 mnths ago. Fishing department is great but kayak and kayaking gear they are weak on!
Bass pro is better ! Not sure what bass pro you have but the fishing and hunting selection at bass pro has always been better by far….
Varies by location, I went to Miami and Islamorada, both are lacking

@@AliexFolgueira well i live next to one in Bossier city and it sucks they do have some nice kayaks there and some really nice boats but it is not the same as it was just a few years ago. And the staff are nice but know nothing about fishing or anything. unless your in the gun department.
