Like the kind of underrated where you always try 7 of the ice cream flavors at Baskin Robbins but you never actually tried the Tooty Truffle McGoop flavor and then you finally try it and go "wow, that's actually pretty good, I'd recommend this to a friend." Yeah that's what THE DUFF is like. So you should watch us watch the duff so you can figure out how crappy or good your friends are.

Its a fun movie once you forget its a book adaptation. The book was so dark and had so many serious topics like alcoholism, abuse, violence,etc. They really went from Bianca using sex with Wesley to avoid being at home with her alcoholic and violent father who was dealing with divorce after Bianca´s mom left them, to a comedy. They just took the name and the characters and threw the entire rest of the plot to the trashcan
I never knew that… which is sad cause I loved this movie
And I'm happy about that, it's one thing reading about it, it's another thing to see it, this movie came out when I was a child so I'm glad they didn't follow the book

This makes so much sense... I read the book like 6 years ago and didn't bother to watch the movie until just before I watched this reaction. While I was watching the movie I was thinking that even though I could not remember specific details of the the book for the life of me, the movie did not feel the same at all. Now I know why!

I've always been aware that I'm a DUFF. I've always been aware and proud.
Being a DUFF is only bad when you perceive it negatively. The way I've always reacted to being called ugly or weird, is simply by telling whoever says it that it may be true, but the fact that they feel the need to point it out, means I already won because by doing that, they gave up their superior position they thought they held.
I loved this movie as a teenager BUT i could never sit through the shopping scene with the mannequin. The only time i've felt second-hand embarrassment on the sqme level was in The Edge of Seventeen with the text Hailee sends to her crush (those who've seen this movie know how intensly horrifying that scene is)
Omggg yesss I love Edge of Seventeen. Nick and Cory need to react to that movie next . I love how when she reads the text to the teacher all he says is “you need to watch out for run-on sentences” 😂
And she goes and tells her teacher about and he reads it out loud😭 BRO

The Edge Of Seventeen is the first movie starring Hailee Steinfeld that I watched after discovering her as an actress.
Mae Whitman is the voice actresses for Katara in ATLA. I can’t get over how she voiced the most badass water bender AND is the lead in this!! I know the movie is trying to be a light hearted chick-flick, but damn it, I hate when being ugly or fat is seen as the worse thing a woman can be. Not cruel, or vapid or shallow. Not self-serving or judgemental. Bianca isn’t ugly or fat, she’s just mean. So I like that in the end, Bianca realised this and tried to clean her act up. Low-key refreshing for a comedy movie.
She also voices tinker bell!
The way how fast Nick switched up on Toby is so hilarious😭
Nick & Cory never fail to disappoint. Every reaction of theirs is always worth the watch.

One other thing about this movie. Mae Whitman, the one who plays Bianca in this movie, I'd consider her very attractive if she would've been one of my classmates. When I watched this movie the first time, it was absurd that they referred to her as the ugly one. I would've honestly asked her out if she would've been at my high school. Nick and Cory would've probably been the guys in school that did the morning announcements.
Oh, and in a high school, they don't have to have everyone's number. The way teenagers are, all they'd have to do is send that video to one person, and by the next day, everyone that person knows would've seen it, and everyone that all those people know. My school only had about 500 people when I attended.
I loved this movie so much. I think it was mostly the chemistry between the two

I read the book after watching the movie. The plot in the book is different because Bianca and Wesley are much closer neighbors in the book than in the movie. They have a whole lot of sex in the book, from pretty early on, where in the movie, they don't get together until the end. I understand that the movie didn't follow the book too directly so they wouldn't have to change the rating.

I bought the book when right before seeing the movie. Then I watched the movie first and was like oh that’s cute. Then I read the book and was like ohhhhh…..noooo (that captain holt meme). Lmao I love the plot of the book much more than the plot of the movie, but I’d much prefer the movie’s plot if I were to see it on screen. Like just plot wise the book is better, but it would be a little depressing to see on the big screen.

By the way guys, if you read the book, the plot is pretty different. There is alcoholism and a different dynamic to Wesley and Bianca. Look for the book online, it's a quick read.

I remember Vine had just died and we had nothing better to do online than literally increase editing skills, youtubers/vloggers were the biggest thing on yt, there were tutorials for everything imaginable & even RUclips Rewind was starting to get massive hate cuz it wasn't that cool anymore, it was just lame. it was the rise of technology, when teens found out they could do quality sh*t online. *LMAOO* idk how old they were in 2015 but in my experience as a teen at the time i think the movie expresses it well, technology was that easy & fun (we def didn't spend months editing, more like 10 min, specially if using these pre-ready beta tools the movie applies. lol), and social media was being interesting for a good few years by then. Bros had been sleeping hard on this whole Era??

I've absolutely been the duff, and to have come from a whole lifetime of being a nobody at school and the black sheep of the family at home... It was actually the fact that me being the Duff to my college besties, of whom helped me step out of my shell and make some of my best memories, that lets you know what level of pathetic I've reached so far but at the same time is something I'd never take back. Being their Duff was my happiest and I'm just glad I was able to appreciate how happy I was because of them even back then.
