  • Here is a 2010 Daimler Orion VII Lithium-Ion Next Gen Low-Floor Hybrid bus, 4690, making an appearance on a northbound M5 to Washington Heights-G.W. Bridge (178th Street and Broadway), cruising up the Riverside Viaduct in the rain, with 135th Street as its next stop. This was a double days before Tropical Storm Debby was slated to hit the New York region.
The M5 is based out of Manhattanville Depot, which is now a healthy mix of Nova and New Flyer Hybrids, with the 2010 Next Gens being a remnant fleet at this depot.
4690 has been at Manhattanville since 9/15/2022, and was sent to the depot along with a few other 4600s from Casey Stengel, to assist in replacing older Orion VII Next Gens, mainly Hawkers at the time.
•Due to the onset of LFS HEVs, XDE40s and XD40s, the Next Gen Hybrid era has concluded at Gun Hill, Michael J. Quill, Tuskegee Airmen, Mother Clara Hale, Grand Avenue and East New York Depots, but East New York has since rekindled their Next Gen era as of 7/24/23, and some of the depots listed here occasionally use MHV Next Gens as loans.
MaBSTOA only has 2010 Next Gen units, all of which are contained in Manhattanville Depot. Manhattanville is expected to rid themselves of their remaining Next Gens using displaced LFS HEVs, which will be shifted out when the more 2023-24 New Flyer XE40s arrive.
