    At 4:50 when the flatfish goes under the dumbo octopus, it looks like it has its eyes open very wide in shock. SO CUTE!

    4:55
    I wonder if they fold up their tentacles to either protect their head/eyes/organs or maybe (and more likely) they're trying to allow for any prey to go under them and into their mouth to be swallowed.

    So I'm curious, are these recordings done via a rover or is there a crew in a sub?
    Awesome vids btw, I envy the people who got to see this live.

    Is it related to the vampire squid?

    • @thehantavirus
      @thehantavirus 8 лет назад +20

      nope, vampire squid belongs to vampirotheids, or whatever, its an ancient lineage, they are more like very primivitive , they belong to thier own order, and have similarities to squid and octopuses. They have what are called velar filaments, probably as sensory organs.
