You could cook on the firebox though, put a skillet or something on there, fry some eggs. You'll come up with something. The guy will think it's his idea.

Not really, the main spot I work in doesn't get bad, and the spatter doesn't stick hardly at all because of the little rust

KapitalJ I build mine the same way, it's easier to clean out and if you need a lot of air it's easier to open
