Forty years ago I used to sew everything for my children including under pants. W hen they got to be teenagers I went back to work and stopped sewing for a while and now that I am retired I wanted to sew again, but being self taught I did not get the results that I wanted . I was so do happy the first time I watched one of your posts and now I can learn everything I need to know. I just wanted you to know how much your posts mean to me. Thank you so much 💓
Love that embroidered fabric ! Absolutely gorgeous. Love the way you think Karina, you’re a genius. I get to use my thinking skills but alas it’s mostly to fix my mistakes! Lol. Your skirt looks maroon on my screen. I feel the need to make one of these now with summer approaching. 😀oh, and thanks for showing us the button/hammer trick. I’ve never had to do one before.
I love the way you use contrast materials I think they make the garment look so professional. The amount of times I have given up on a make because I have been a bit short of fabric this tutorial will make me think more as I work with the patterns.
I was mentored by my great aunt in my teens and I was always amazed at what she could do with a tiny piece of fabric. Her style led to me attempting this too and I’ve had this approach for decades :)
That embroidered chambray is stunning! I look forward to seeing your completed garment. As always, your impeccable work is a tribute to sewing everywhere.
i finally grasp the pocket bags with the small amount of fashion fabric and cotton, excellent idea thank you for sharing and yes the zipper fly still is my favorite. Have a safe weekend see you later
I love the embroidered chambray! And I absolutely love how you are so mindful about the details. I’m ready to cut out and sew my glissando skirt! Thanks.
I sew the separate pocket facing (that shows above the pocket opening) with a 3-step zig zag to attach and finish the raw edge all at once. I also solved the pocket fabric issue by using batiks. The fabric looks pretty from both inside the garment and inside the pocket. Fantastic work as always!
That’s a great idea to finish the edge. I used Zig zag for everything for about 10 years before I had a serger and now have a bit of an allergy to zig zags :) If I can use the serger, I will :)
Love the chambray material. Hope you make the two other skirts you were talking about. Great ideas. You did great on making this pattern. Love your sewing. Thanks for teaching everyone.
I love the skirt but I need it below the knee. I was trying to figure out how I could put a slit in the back seam with the top stitching and up popped a pic of exactly what I wanted! Just off to buy the pattern. I've been sewing for most of my life but I'm still learning so much more from your videos. I think you are a wonderful teacher and I'm sure you inspire so many of us to try new styles.
I have never seen a jean button installed before so lots of helpful information there. I would love to see how you remove teeth from those metal zips one day when you do those other skirts you plan if possible.
Actually it’s super simple. I use an old scissors to cut the extra zipper tape and the same scissors to pull out the unwanted teeth. I don’t use special tools for it :)
Cynthia Willis of course I’ve already shown it :) I have the detailed step by step in Monday’s video about the Glissando Pants. You can see it all there. ruclips.net/video/U2gTen5e77I/видео.html
Karina what is the name and brand of the interfacing you use to stabilize? Love your videos by the way. This is where I get a lot of my sewing tips and instructions. So thanks for providing.
Unfortunately I don’t have a name or brand. I live in Brazil and purchase generic lightweight tailors interfacing. I know it’s good quality but I don’t know what it compares to. I mean to brands.
I won’t make a buttonhole tutorial separately because each machine has a different method and capacity for them. You can see me making some in this video: ruclips.net/video/jY1kHHkateg/видео.html I make sure my buttonhole piece is centered over the area well and I always practice on scraps of the same fabric first.

It sure does! I was thinking the same. Love that top on her!
Thank you a great tutorial! Love this pattern.
Lovely as usual. Everything fits you beautifully 🙂
Thank you so much 😊
This was a really great make! Loved how you made a back center seam, just because you wanted too! Thanks for sharing!
I always do things because I wanted to 😃....
Nice - thanks for the insp. Looking forward to the following makes :-) The last fabric is just stunning.
Thank you so much 😊
Great info on the pockets!
I've done this on jeans too on the waistband as well.

Yay now you can do this with many pockets and use the lovely cottons we have lying around :)
I love the embroidered chambray! And I absolutely love how you are so mindful about the details. I’m ready to cut out and sew my glissando skirt! Thanks.

@@LiftingPinsandNeedles Yeah!
I normally hate brown...but I am loving this shade! Just beautiful almost looks purple sometimes? 🤔

I’m so happy you got inspiration from the video. That makes me happy. Yes, a skirt with a slit is awesome 👏🏼

Lifting Pins and Needles Thanks for your reply. I will have to buy one and try it myself.
Did I miss a zipper hack tutorial? I was hoping you would show how you did it. The skirt and pants are beautiful!
Cynthia Willis of course I’ve already shown it :)

Thanks, I’ll be sure to watch it.i want a traditional jean skirt, too. Thanks!

Fantastic! My buttonholes are always a mess, do you have a tutorial or a video showing how you make yours? Thanks!
I won’t make a buttonhole tutorial separately because each machine has a different method and capacity for them. You can see me making some in this video: ruclips.net/video/jY1kHHkateg/видео.html
I make sure my buttonhole piece is centered over the area well and I always practice on scraps of the same fabric first.
If I wanted to make a fully lined skirt, could I extend one of the pocket pieces and if so, which one?
The picker bag, the one that has the complete hip area.
I would love to see the scaps. Or at least how much scraps.
Oh they are long gone. Tiny little shreds, literally :)
❤️👍👏👌
After switching from industrial to domestic sewing machine I can not make perfectly looking topstitching...
The presser feet make all the difference for me.
I do have same presser feets, but in my case, I need to get used to a new machine I think :) @@LiftingPinsandNeedles
