I've had the leaffilter brand, high pitched roof, water would slide right off and on to the ground, switched to aluminum with holes and no mesh (no pine trees) and it's been great ever since.

Not clear at all about which one of these products is the/a "bulldog" system, much less what that moniker's supposed to refer to?

The product you are talking about at 1:54 is a product I also sale myself it's a bit overkill for anyone not living in the north. It was designed to withstand heavyweight buildup from ice and snow

What gutter guards other than leaf filter dont go under the shiningles?

  • @walkersonneville5036

If you're pitch on the gutter guard is too steep for the Costco gutter guard the water will run right over it and off. On some rains it works okay, but if you get a downpour it will run right over the gutter. Honestly, I was not greatly impressed. It's got to be coarser, not so fine.

Josh, do most micro mesh solution prevent ice dams? Considering trying the Costco solution. Presently we have full cover gutter cover solution that works great keeping debris out of the gutters but two problems, #1 ice dams every winter unless I rake my entire drip line about 3' back and, #2 is inside corners (valleys) over flow during heavy down pours.

ok I listened further regarding micro mesh. Striate is layers of sediment in rock - striations are the layers of sediment to can see in broken rock as line of different color showing layers of different sediment. Are you implying a micro mesh will fill your gutters with sediment? "A haven for bees" - that part was funny - ultimate you recommend ""The Bull Dog System" but you never explained what a the "bull dog system" is (is it a product or an industry approach to guttering ?)
    - so moving on now, not much to see here.

@@davidlightfoot348 it says “Lansing Gutter Protection” on the sign above the three different gutter systems, Bulldog being the center system. He could of explained it since he recommended it…. Odd….

Interesting experience on getting an estimate, high pressure sales today only price now! He went from 6,400 down to 3,900. He got upset 😡 that I would not comment. He must have lost his way of the meaning of an estimate! In my opinion it is overpriced!
Just thought I would share my experience with "Leaffilter"

I spend most of my time throwing them out. So much dirt still gets underneath the guards causing more damage and resulting in a much more expensive clean. Add it to the list of scams right alongside the Microsoft Technical Support con and the classic Nigerian Prince scam.

I've been looking into different systems and brands over the years and they all have far more complaints and disappointments than satisfaction. The complaints have to do with the systems simply not working right and the companies not standing behind their products and warranties. I see these gutter system sales people at every trade shows pushing their products, so I research them.
Our gutters load up and have to be cleaned regularly or the water runs over the top, but from what I hear, people who have these systems the water runs over the top all the time a well.

What if over time fine dirt and dust accumulate in the gutters this will cause a damn effect and collect the water in between the dirt and the Dust what if mosquitoes can breed in that little bit of water this is why I don't use leaf guard gutter guards they're really a waste of time if you're going on your roof anyways to blow off the leaves just blow out the gutters at the same time

Mesh won't stop "those whirly birds that come down" - humm - what's a "whirly bird" where you come from?? - anyway small debris that makes it past the mesh will be washed down with the next big storm -right? Sounds reasonable that a small flow of water can take longer to get - but a big flush will carry all away. unless you gutter is 100%filled up with soot - which is unlikely if it has a bit of slope to it.

They are maple seeds. People call them helicopters, propeller seeds, or whirlybirds. They are the seed pods that fall from a tree and spin down like a helicopter.

@@henrycrawford2697 If I do the install myself, I can put up a nice stainless steel micro mesh similar to the expensive rip-off brand for between $100 and $200. There are several brands to choose from, including one that is in stock at my local Home Depot. It cost me almost $300 to have my gutters cleaned the last time.
